I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a proposed trade in one of my leagues. I have been leaning both ways. T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Brandon Marshall for Torry Holt, Greg Olsen, and Santonio Holmes. BTW this is a PPR league.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3484075.story "If the Bears' defensive front four appears to be in a crooked alignment Sunday night, don't adjust your television. It is supposed to look that way. Having a couple of the defensive linemen in a cocked position -- usually the interior linemen -- is just one of the minor tweaks assistant head coach Rod Marinelli has implemented since taking over the defensive line." ************************************************************************** Maybe I was drinking too much during the games but I don't recall our DTs lining up this way during the preseason, at least not routinely. If I'm wrong so…

In today's Tribune, an article by Fred Mitchell (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-16-walter-payton-statue-sep16,0,3208115.story) advises that the Park District is opposed to a statue being erected outside Soldier Field. I personally find this appalling as the excuses that the Park District give is that the statue for "Sweetness" is not for a war veteran and does not take into consideration other Bear Hall of Fame members or legends. I am hoping that many Bear Fans will write to the Park District to voice displeasure with the Park District's lack of respect to the greatest running back of all time and the founding franchise of the NFL. Here is the…

T.J. Houshmandzadeh got a lot of attention this offseason because of what he said, in addition to what he did: sign with the Seahawks. He's been quiet on the field with his new team, trailing Nate Burleson and John Carlson slightly in receptions and yards. But Housh isn't done talking yet. In advance of this week's game against the Bears, Housmandzadeh was asked if he had any serious talks with Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo. "Man, the Bears ain't holler at me,'' he said. "Jerry Angelo probably didn't even think I could play. So I'm going to show him Sunday." Houshmandzadeh will have to show him without being fully healthy. The former Bengal sat out practi…

I am extremely happy with the development of our WRs. Hester, Bennett, and Knox have all stepped up big time. I do not see this as a need next yr. I would say FA and the draft should concentrate on: - Offensive line - Defensive backfield Get a top tier OL in FA and then draft best available of the 2 in the 3rd and 4th round. Peace

You can only go as far as your offensive line will take you. This organization continues to ignore it. A great O-Line will make an average QB and average RB good. A shit O-line will make a great QB and great RB look below average. It's just the way it is now. Gone are the days when the O-line were just anonymous bludgeoners. They are VITAL to offensive success. That's why most of us in here were clamoring for Faneca regardless of his price tag. It's that big of a deal. When I hear Thayer and Hampton talk about certain players lack of knowledge with hand positioning or leverage. I'm dumbfounded. These are supposed to be elite players playing at their highest lev…

some *excerpts... ok i can understand a coach getting fed up with the same questions over and over and wanting to stick up for his players. stating "we've got a good offensive line" a bit over the top but... he has no idea why?? that's a pretty scary statement. even taking heat and getting fed up with the media this is an amazing statement to utter even in your sleep. hmmmmmm... maybe if i knew each player personally i would like them too. but to say we have "good players and good depth"? is he living on bizzaro world? in regards to beekman... this is his high recommendation? his analysis of our supposedly future center? he is…

My understanding is, this was the video seen at halftime, http://www.chicagobears.com/walterpayton.asp All I can say is, it was incredible to grow up watching Payton. You always hear your father talk about having watched this player or that player, but for me, when talking to my kids, there is no greater legacy to point to having seen Walter Payton.

We've already discussed this here on the forum! Interesting read, even though as of late, Morrissey's been more Mariotti... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,6568918.column Lovie Smith inanities deserve to be reported Related Is Lovie Smith on speaking terms with the truth? The plain truth and Lovie Smith are not always on speaking terms. Is that good for the team? Yes, if you can't say anything nice, how can you fill up a news conference? No, coaches should be critics (and critics think they could be coaches). Truthfully, I don't care what Lovie Smith says. Bears players support coach Smith Topics Super Bowl Ph…

The Bears game is on TV here this week. I got a nice HD and free OTA HD broadcast, plus a basement full of homemade beer. However, The games I have watched at the bar this year the bears have won, every game I watched at home we have lost. I am usually not a superstitious person but when it comes to the bears I think anything helps....what to do what to do also for anyone out of market here is a great website that will tell you what games are playing in your neck of the woods each week. http://the506.com/nflmaps/

Has anyone else noticed that there have been quite a few OBVIOUS pass interference situations on the Bears WRs/TEs, and they have not been called? It seems that there has been many more than normal recently, with replays in more than one game making announcers say, "Yeah, that should have been pass interference." Is this a matter of respect for the passing game, or lack thereof?

Sorry I've been missing in action for a while. Didn't feel like I had anything constructive to say so I didn't say anything at all. Now that it's over, I think we need to see this team address the following: 1.) Repair the O Line through free agency. I sure wish I knew who was out there but this is (and has been) my number one concern. Having no first or second round choices this year sure isn't going to help. 2.) Determine who it was that was responsible for Devin A being unseen for the vast majority of the season and fire that guy. I'm not sure if this is Turner or Lovie but I sure recall Cutler lobbying for him during the preseason and it took all …

Of course there have been no links to the team, but I'm thinking what about Dan Reeves. This is the kind of guy I would like to see get hired for the offense. IMO, who ever gets hired as the OC is the coach of the offense. This guy has been there and done that. Last year he interviewed for the San Fran OC, so apparently he wants back in the business if he was willing to interview for that position. I think a true coach like him would be amazing for the young talent on offense.

We are going to be a better offensive football team this year with Martz!!! Everything starts in the offensive line. Everything. They allow you to keep your defense off the field, to protect the quarterback, to do what you want to do on offense. When that’s established—which we’ll get done—then I think more than anything else, you get off the bus and really you are getting in a position to hit them right in the mouth.” Martz is known primarily for coordinating an explosive Rams offense that was dubbed “The Greatest Show on Turf.” Led by quarterback Kurt Warner, running back Marshall Faulk, and wide receivers Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, St. Louis boasted a …
