In David Haugh's new column: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,4846510.column I still don't like it. Haugh rattles off his stats over four years like it's some impressive feat when other WRs had that in one or two years sometimes. I'd rather take Barden.

His offense just put up 47 against NE (with the best QB performance in playoff history) and 36 on KC in back-to-back weeks. Absolutely bonkers. If not for the stupid OT rule, the Bills win this game. To end the regular season after that snowmaggedeon game, the Bills offense scored 27, 31, 33, 29, and 27 going 4-1 in the process. If you include the postseason, that is 7 straight games with 27 or more points. The Bears hit 27 in 3 times the entire year.

KC receiver picked up from waivers

I think this is worth watching. A couple highlights: 1) He is the anti-Nagy: "This is our offense it's not my offense". He is incorporating things from everyone on the coaching staff. 2) On EqStBrown: He matured a lot last year, and he's glad we were able to sign him and expects him to role model what they want on offense and that he'll contribute quite a bit this year. Lots of questions on Velus and of course Fields.

I feel like Adams post is about to get hijacked with talks of all the cap room we have in 2023 so I thought I'd branch off a bit and create that conversation here. The Bears lost Tuesday's practice because they apparently exceeded the amount of contact activity earlier in the offseason. Two views on this right now. One is the team is setting the new tone and culture at all costs and losing one non-contact practice is worth the price to have contact earlier in the offseason. On the flip side, this is the second public mishap by the new regime, first the Larry O contract (which potentially prevented the signing of another top FA) and now this.

We knew what this season was going to be. Within that thought there were varied growth and win expectations from the Bearstalk family and media experts. This will be the single biggest off-season the Bears or maybe any other team has ever had. Do we know of any team has had the number one pick, an emerging QB and 120 mil to spend? Do you expect playoffs, winning record or vast improvement? What gives Poles and Eberflus the thumbs up?

It's likely going to be a wild offseason with draft rumors. Here we are fresh off the Senior Bowl with apparently two teams kicking the tires on a trade for #1. It appears Tenn was one of the teams. I say kicking the tires because at this point that's about all that is being done. If this is true, most likely the Titans GM just wants to know if Poles would be willing to drop back to #11. SEA and DET both have 4 picks in the top 60. When I was thinking about trading partners, I was looking into which teams had more flexibility to move up. Compared to someone like IND, who the Bears are linked to, would basically not pick again until the 4th round if they move up to #1.

So here is the current estimated available cap for teams with over $10M in effective cap space. These teams are really the only ones that could sign a player to a decent contract without other cap restructuring. If you consider you need $5M for rookie pool and $5-10M for operating money for the year, The Bears, Falcons, and Packers are really the only teams with room to sign players to a deal that is over $7M AAV. There are still several players left like that. The Bears could sign 2 of them and still have the most cap space. So Poles is not done yet.
