Burnett blew things out at the station drills, posting a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 4.46 40 and an 11-foot broad jump. He also caught well in ball-skill drills. Burnett (6-1, 210) is a likely second-round pick who is coming off a season in which he didn't build on an All-American sophomore year.

Bears | L. Smith expects more from Benson Wed, 2 Apr 2008 12:44:09 -0700 Clark Judge, of CBSSports.com, reports Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith expects more from RB Cedric Benson in 2008. "Cedric is a first-round draft pick, and with that are expectations," Smith said. "And there comes a time when he needs to produce. This is an important year for us and for him, and he needs to take a step." Looks like the Bears are done being patient with him. Hopefully that lights a fire under his arse.

That Omiyale had replaced Beekman on the last drive. ZZ asked him after the game why Beekman was replaced and Lovie said that was the 1st he aware of it. ZZ asked if Beekman was injured and Lovie said no. Just food for thought. Peace

  5. Lovie Smith can say all he wants about how the Bears are a running football team that likes to pass. Oh really? I don't understand why the Bears think they have to be a running team when clearly their strength is in the passing game with Cutler and our receivers. Jim Miller brought this up last night on Bears Post Game Live and he had a great point. Why don't the Bears go with alot more empty sets? Put 5 receivers out there, spread the defense out and let Cutler do his thing. Obviously our running game is non existent so instead of forcing the issue we need to change up our offense to a New Orleans Saints style of offense. I hope we see some of these changes in next…

  7. Bears | Quarterback competition could be long one Mon, 2 Jun 2008 07:46:06 -0700 The Associated Press reports Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said he is prepared to let QB Rex Grossman and QB Kyle Orton compete for the team's starting quarterback job until the fourth game of the preseason. "Ideally you would like to have someone in place going into that last week of the preseason," Smith said. "But we'll just let it play out. If it's not clear by then, we'll let it go right up until (preseason's end)."

Haven't seen a poll in awhile. So where does Lovie's performance stand this year from a pure HC perspective.

  9. Started by Connorbear,

No change in coordinators in the offseason. Further, he said he sees Hester being a #1 receiver in the future. Peace

referring to an 8-8 season, losing 5 out of 6 games to end the season and missing the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 YEARS!! yea, who wouldn't want to to keep as many players and coaches together after that exemplary record?

I thought D.J. Moore was in Lovie's doghouse. I'm also surprised to see him sign Maneri so perhaps he is gong to revise his "Run First" offense in Tampa. I'd say this indicates he'll make a strong push to sign Tillman. If the price is high I think we let him go. ------------------------ http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rumors The Buccaneers have signed former Bears D.J. Moore and Steve Maneri. The team announced the moves. ------------------------

Dude had to get fired to REALIZE OL is important. Jamies Winston followed by OT and OG. And that's on top of the OT AND OG he drafted last year. Seriously, that guy can kiss my ass square on the butthole.

Interesting stats...quite similar... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/FontWa0.htm 8 years at Det's HC (and I think his first year in 88 he was interim coach for the tail end of their season...) 4 playoff appearances Actually a better playoff percentage than Smith... Right now Smith is only 3-8...potential to go 4-9 The players loved Fontes. Just sounds very very familiar... And Fontes was booted after 1 losing season following 3 playoff appearances.

Color Commentator: And we welcome in Lovie Smith, Head Coach for the Chicago Bears. Thanks for stopping by Lovie. “How about those Bears?!” Color Commentator: This week's loss to the Ravens was a tough one, coach. Many are disappointed. “We had opportunities but we couldn't put it away. We've got to find a way to win.” Color Commentator: The defense seems to be under fire lately, especially the cover-2. How do you think it worked on the Ravens' fade pass for a touchdown when Peanut was in coverage? “Charles has been through a lot this year. He had a tough spell early in the season. He came back after that. Good football players eventually play …
