But this is the first draft (so far...and really through 3 rounds is the benchmark anyway) I can recall where no one here is really complaining. All the picks make sense. And moreso, they look outstanding. Sure, there may have been a guy or 2 someone here would have preferred...but the 4 guys we got are just excellent on paper.

The Bears have a lot of holes left to fill, and they won't be able to fill them all through the draft. The Bears will probably sign a couple more free agents before the draft. Here are the positions we still need a player in, not in order of necessity: DE, OLB, ILB, S, CB OC/OG, OT, WR The first draft pick is going to solidify one of those positions. It will either go to the offensive line, or to the defense. If it goes offense, it will be Quentin Nelson OG from ND. He would be a force, and a really good step toward building an OL that is probably the weakest unit on the team now. The other biggest weakness is LB. Unless you're ready to …

Yes, we won, and it was great to see the team play with some emotion for once... But you can guarantee yourself that this victory will be the excuse the front offices uses to keep Lovie. Sure, it was still 50-50 at best even if we did lose out, but not its almost a certainty he will be back. Very bittersweet tonight.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true Burnett also had the eye of several scouts and coaches since he did not take part in the combine due to a hamstring injury. Burnett blew things out at the station drills, posting a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 4.46 40 and an 11-foot broad jump. He also caught well in ball-skill drills. Burnett (6-1, 210) is a likely second-round pick who is coming off a season in which he didn't build on an All-American sophomore year.

Of the 76 kicker/punters in the database, Gould finished 75th (in terms of Value-Added) with a -13.4 and O'Donnell finished 42nd with a -1.6. The part that most were concerned with was Gould's kickoffs and that was clearly illustrated in this database as he finished dead last in that category. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-ha...on-nfl-kickers/ So with a cap hit of $4.1mil next year, is Kicker an area we need to address this offseason? Gould has the 3rd highest average salary for a Kicker (behind Gostkowski and Janikowski).

Instead of debating who should start or what the best option going forward may be, how about asking why? Q: Why is Cutler starting? A: Because there's an old tradition that the starter does not lose his job to injury. Why? It's a message of loyalty and confidence to the team. Nobody wants to sacrifice their body for a coach or team with the thought that their standing will be lost during rehab. A: Because they need more film on Cutler. Why? Smith vs Kaepernick. Why? Smith was 7-0 and the highest rated QB in the NFL then loses his job to Kaepernick. SF goes on to the SB as favorite and were beaten soundly until the power outage. Karma's a bitch…

Rex Grossman needs good showing vs. Seattle An interesting article but mistitled in my opinion. It has far less to do with the title than it does with 10 topics of discussion that the author makes on issues for the Bears to face, only 1 of the 10 being Rex vs Kyle. My favorite point of the 10 mentioned:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...nee-will-be-ok/ Desmond Clark says his knee will be OK APWhen Bears tight end Desmond Clark was carted off the field Saturday night with a knee injury, it looked potentially serious. But Clark says he’s just fine. Clark wrote on Twitter that he doesn’t expect to miss much time. “Took quite a shot out there but feeling confident I’ll be ok and back on the field soon,” Clark wrote. Although he appeared to be hurt on the field, Clark walked out of the locker room without crutches and seems to have dodged a bullet.

Interesting read from Toub's interview posted on ESPN. Toub is gonna fix Hester My favorite part: DT: We're going to emphasize with him to get a first down; get the ball up the field north and south, get 10 yards and then make a big play from there. If Devin can get that in his mind, then the return TDs will be there again. He spent far too much time going backwards and sideways, thinking he could outrun anyone and everyone...even someone with a great angle on him. Hester is super, but he's not superman.

Would you guys be opposed to drafting 2 wideouts in the first 2 rounds? If some team outbids the Bears on Jackson, Johnson stays in Buffalo, Wayne goes wherever Peyton goes, Colston stays, and Bowe gets tagged, wouldn't this make sense? Also, keep in mind that it seems like the organization likes Webb and Williams at LT. I don't love this idea, because I think making the D younger is more important, but Floyd and Hill/Sanu wouldn't be too bad.

  17. Bears bringing in Dont'a Hightower to visit and McIntosh....... they also waived Max Komar, so its going to be a LB in the draft or FA. I told Jason a while back that Komar wont see the roster this year......so who is next Sanazenbacher? Maybe if we are targeting a bigger WR like any one over 6'2 like Cutler has asked for. We brought in Randle maybe Hill/Quick and on the radar as well as Floyd if he slips that far to #19.

  18. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1222885...efensive-tackle The situation behind starter Henry Melton is precarious at best and could get worse in an instant. Nate Collins, Jordan Miller, John McCargo, Ronnie Cameron and DeMario Pressley are five players vying for the fourth defensive tackle spot on the Bears roster this year. These five players have made a combined one NFL start between them.

    3. Jon Asamoah, OG, Illinois ---This guy is an absolute beast. I'm praying he falls here. Everytime I watch Illinois, the whole OL gets toasted except him. 4. Deunta Williams, FS, North Carolina ---Steltz looked OK but Afalava is a SS and we need a true FS. Williams is a steal this late. 5. Austen Lane, DE, Murray State ---Through November 19, this guy had 11 sacks on the year. This late, he's worth a try. We all know JA loves small school guys (Abilene Christian). 6. Dennis Landholt, OT, Penn State ---More OL depth. 7. Shawn Estes, C, Hawaii ---Kreutz is starting to wear down, and I'm afraid we've already molded Beekman to be an OG. Estes is a true C. …
