Noots’ Notes-Game 8: 27-23 Win over Detroit By Michael Nudo The Bears (5-3) overcame a 10-point halftime deficit and the loss of quarterback Kyle Orton to defeat the Detroit Lions 27-23 at Soldier Field. The Lions remain winless. The Bears stand alone at the top of the NFC North after the Packers were beaten 19-16 by the undefeated Titans in overtime. The Bears take on Tennessee next week. A costly win (AP Photo/Nam Y. Huh). OFFENSE QuarterbackKyle Orton (8-14-108, 2/7, TD) was off to another strong start. Although he had a misfire he’d like to have back on a throw to Greg Olsen at the goal line, he made some good adjustments. One of his best play…

  2. Last year around this time, most of the experts pre-drafts had us taking QB Andre Woodson at this time. Of course, by the time the draft rolled around: 1. We'd already given new contracts to Kyle Orton AND Rex Grossman making the idea of drafting a QB at #14 improbable. 2. Andre Woodson had been bad enough in the combine that he slipped to the 6th round. How the hell does a guy go from being projected at #14 overall to #198??? While I can't wait for the April 25-26th draft, I just wanted to rant for a moment that I hate all the pre-combine speculation . . . and I'm bored and pissed that the Vikings are winning in the second quarter.

  3. From the Sun Times: http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2008/05/or...of_firstte.html Interesting, but maybe the coaches were just trying to defuse the talk that they were determined to give Grossman the job. Discuss.

http://www.cbs47.com/content/topstories/st...bd-e87f665c4b63 Heath was one of the best small school prospects in the draft and was one my favorites in the draft. I thought he would have been a real good fit for the Bears in the later part of round 3 as someone who can compete at RT/RG. Sadly, he has died. RIP and condolences to his family. Hopefully he died of some sort of natural cause, because you never want to see a guy ruin his name by dying from drugs and/or alcohol.

There are a lot of good teams in this league, you guys must all be smart, it is hard for me to draft a good team in this league. I see my team as middle of the pack in this group. Teams I like in no particular order. Balls, Crushers and Nopper with Bell back in a couple of weeks. My strong points are Gronk,Ben,Cobb and Lacy but my #2 WR and #2 RBs could end up dooming me. Some of you have one weak spot, but I see a couple on mine that will lead to to many losses. Good luck to you guys, but make no mistake about it, I want to kick you ass, and my smack talk will all be in good fun , so dont take it to personal. I will have to say it is hard for me to…

Interesting article, just using age as a comparison of other WRs that had their breakout year at 23 or later. https://beargoggleson.com/2022/05/06/velus-jones-chicago-bears/ The top 2 WRs on the list are Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson. That's basically it. That is out of 37 WRs in that same group. I understand their point, that an older player is more fully developed, so they have an easier time against 19 and 20 year olds that are still developing. The Bears passed on Abraham Lucas, OT, Christian Harris, LB, Travis Jones, DT, Bernard Raimann, OT, Jalen Tolbert, WR, Dylan Parham, OG, and David Bell, WR. I really hope he works out and pro…

According to schefter the raiders are going to give Gruden a 10 yr $100 million deal. Why is a part of me hopes that gruden completely stinks up the place. That deal could really hurt the team if it don't work out

Or last but not least... "Don't care" I think something with TerraTor in it would be amusing. Or Stinger and SCS in an embrace would be cute. edit: ok it's apparent I have no idea how to do a poll.

  13. This sounds interesting. Has anyone seen him play? Websites seem to differ on if he projects as a ROT or LOT. For the record, I have no problem picking a OT in the first and looking at Brown in the 3rd with one of our 2 picks. Linemen are so hit (Joe Thomas) or miss (Robert Gallery). Scouts say: Ryan Clady, Boise State I say: Duane Brown, Virginia Tech The skinny: Forget about quarterback, there are more busts on the offensive line than anywhere in the draft. Clady looks the part, but I’ve got reservations about his tenacity. Brown, on the other hand, is one mean dude. And that’s what I want on my offensive line: a mean dude with an attitude. Yeah, he’s not…

Trade our 17th overall for a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. 2. Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU ---take best defensive player here, a machine who never stops 2. Kraig Urbik, OG, Wisconsin ---arguably the 2nd best OG in the nation this year- 6'6 310 3. Derek Pegues, FS, Mississippi State ---very fast and a ball hawker- can also lay the big hit 3. Troy Kropog, OT, Tulane ---going to the Senior Bowl- last time we took a Tulane guy it worked out- 6'6 320 3 (COMP). Mohamed Massaquoi, WR, Georgia ---long and lanky (6'2, 200), very reliable for Stafford at Georgia- his last game: 11 catches for 140 yards

  17. Started by Ed Hochuli 3:16,

Trade out of the 1st for a 2nd, 4th, and 5th. Sign Jordan Gross. 2. Paul Kruger, DE, Utah ---The guy is a machine and has been compared to Aaron Kampman. 2. Louis Delmas, FS, Western Michigan ---Big hitter, leader, and ball-hawk. Can you ask for much more from a FS? 3. Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State ---I'm really starting to like this kid. He is 6'2 200 but he has great hands and is a great route runner. Perfect compliment to Hester. 3. Trevor Canfield, RG, Cincinnati ---He is a great run blocker and that's what we need. 4. Zack Follet, OLB, California ---Leader and is pretty athletic. 4. Gartrell Johnson, RB, Colorado State ---After watching …

  19. Our biggest DT/NT is Goldman. Who else do we have to eat the middle up? If he can be signed to a Bear friendly contract I say why not?!

  20. Started by AZ54,

He's getting a lot of good press at the Senior Bowl (NFL Network analysts had a lot of good things to say about him) and from what little I've seen he's pretty athletic. He is not, however, Jamal Adams or Malik Hooker. That much is apparent within the first few plays watching him. Still he has some good coverage skills and looks every bit the part of a guy who can cover TEs well but I don't see him handling quicker slot WRs like Adams can, nor does he have the elite speed Hooker has. Just someone to keep an eye on when we get to the combine. http://www.walterfootball.com/seniorbowl2017rumors4.php
