I know there is speculation that LB is a big need and Chicago is known for its great history of MLBs. Going through the last 5 drafts, only 3 MLBs taken round 1. Two are from Alabama, Rolando McClain and Donta Highower, and Luke Kuechly Boston College. Size wise, 6-2 265 for Hightower and 6-3 242 for Kuechly and McClain. With this history, would the risk of taking a smaller Mosely 6-3 234 (15 reps on bench) at 14? Plus he has injury history, which may be because he is almost the size of a SS. At what point do the Bears consider dealing Earl Bennett, taking a 5th round pick and making Marquess Wilson active? I think it'd be difficult for Wilson to do less than what Bennett is right now. That's not criticizing Bennett either. Right now though, he isn't part of the Bears' offense and looks disinterested, for good reason.

The Bengals Antwan Odom, DE, was lost for the year. CIN has allowed a league-high 25 pass plays of 20+ yards. I think we matchup pretty well against the Bengals. Palmer is not very mobile, and Benson only gained 44 yards against Houston's defense. This was a game that I expected us to win before the season started, and I still believe we should win. Looking at our schedule, this is where we could go on an extended run (as long as we don't give away anymore games). Chris Simms is signing with Denver, as per PFT. He wouldn't have been great, but I liked the idea of having him as a back-up, and I really don't think we'll spend the money for Leftwich. Khalif Barnes is meeting with Oakland. He's the last tackle available who'd be an upgrade over St. Clair. (At least he's still in the mix . . . ) Jermaine Phillips, the top safety available, is meeting with the Chargers & Seahawks. I just view back-up QB, safety, WR, and o-line as MAJOR problems we need to address in the draft AND free agency. We're so damn thin we need two of each position. My optimism is fading fast.

With the 49ers new DC having mostly a 4-3 background it would seem that's the direction they are going. Fans on one message board are not too enamored with Arik Armstead and if they switch to a 4-3 most speculate he'll end up at LDE. Not an ideal fit for his skills. If nothing else most seem to want a top tier FA DT brought in which would move AA to a backup role, or kick him outside to LDE. All of which makes it possible to see AA on the trade block. We'll see which FA the 49ers are connected to when we get to the combine as that could give a good idea where they see AA fit on their D.
