Noots’ Notes-Game 5: 34-7 Win at Detroit By Michael Nudo The Bears (3-2) were led by an unexpected aerial attack from Kyle Orton to defeat the Detroit Lions. The Bears got out to an early lead and never let up against Detroit, who swept the Bears a year ago. The Orton-led Bears held a huge time of possession advantage over the Lions (38:15-21:45). Motown Masterpiece (AP Photo/Paul Sancya). OFFENSE QuarterbackKyle Orton (24-34-334, 2 TD) had his finest game as a professional. He only left a couple of plays on the field, but more than made up for it with the others he hit. He took one sack on a play he probably should have seen coming (see offensiv…

  2. Sorry about the title, I was in tears laughing. It looks like Clausen may get his 2nd start against Seattle this season. Now it is in Baltimore, but I can't imagine it would be much better than the last outcome. His top running back is Allen, and top WR is Aiken. So Clausen and Trestman against a rolling Seattle team looking to make a playoff push. Should be fun. 3. Chicago Bears football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach Lovie Smith immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE. Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again this season.

I've seen lots of the Fanspeak mock drafts, and sometimes they seem worthwhile. Other times, however, there are ridiculous scenarios like a top 5 guy slipping to the Bears at 14. I'm just not sure they're reliable enough to be a valuable tool. I did three, with varying approaches, just to see the results. Draft #1 (S First, BPA > need) 14 S HAHA CLINTON-DIX ALABAMA 51 DT DOMINIQUE EASLEY FLORIDA 82 CB LOUCHEIZ PURIFOY FLORIDA 117 DT ANTHONY JOHNSON LSU 156 G JON HALAPIO FLORIDA 183 RB DE'ANTHONY THOMAS OREGON 191 S VINNIE SUNSERI ALABAMA Review: I didn't intend to go so heavy with SEC, but that's how it worked out. I'd like this draft a lot.…

With the draft and most UDFA's signed, using our pre-draft depth chart, I tried to figure out who makes the cut at 53. The biggest battles are at LB and CB, and who plays what on the DLINE. Nevertheless, it should be interesting. For simplicity sake, I plugged some guys in for only one position even though they can play multiple. Looking at this you can see why we did not draft a LB. Also, it looks like the low end of the roster turnover would be 33% and can get as high as 45% depending on which 53-man roster guys stick (I see about 6 at risk) and 18 new slots already filled. What do you think, look about right? OFFENSE (24): QB (2): Jay Cutler* / Jimmy C…

I have two Rd 2 WRs I like: Jalen Reagor and now adding Brandon Aiyuk to my list. Both are very similar body types and similar athletes with speed to go the distance any time. More importantly both are good receivers. Either would really help open up our passing game.

    Miami traded #3 to SF for #12, 2021 3rd, and SF's First Rounders in 2022 and 2023. Miami then traded #12 and their 2022 first-rounder to Philadelphia for #6 So it ends up almost like a 3-team deal: Miami trades #3 and their 2022 1st for #6, 2021 3rd, 2022 1st (SF), 2023 1st (SF). Philadephia trades #6 for #12 and 2022 1st (MIA) SF trades #12, 3rd Rounder, 2 future 1sts for #3

Tait retirement becomes official; Bears still seeking right tackle By Brad Biggson March 12, 2009 4:32 PM You can cross one name off the list of potential right tackles for the Bears this coming season. John Tait has turned in his retirement papers as an NFL source said his name came across the waiver wire less than an hour ago. The Bears have placed him on the reserve/retired list. Tait informed the Bears in January that he was seriously contemplating retirement. No move was official at the time. When the club asked him if he wanted an announcement to be made, he said no, proof that he was going to continue to think it over even if he was mostly sure wha…

If all of the top 6 OL players are gone at our 20th spot, who do we take? the top 4 OTs, and 2 top OGs I would suspect we draft our next need. Eifert/TE or maybe Austin/WR. If that happens I would like to see us move down in the draft to get extra picks. I still think AZ is a likely trade candidate. A lot of mock drafts have them taking a QB in the first round, but dont think any of the prospects merit that high of a pick. Which would give us a 39th our 50th and a 3rd round 69. (Warford/OG,Wheaton/WR and Kelce/TE would be my choices. The possibility of BPA would come into play. With the 6 OLs going ahead of us, someone real good would drop to us…

I know I made note of this in another thread but I thought it deserves it's own thread. Herring and Pasquanelli, who will be the DL coach, worked together in the same roles on the 2010 Cowboys team. Both guys have been strictly 3-4 guys in the NFL. I like it....Bears might not have Wade Phillips but they got 2 of his disciples on the staff.

http://www.csnchicago.com/football-chicago...mp;feedID=10330 What I find interesting is that he didn't make mention of Kellen Davis when he talked about the Tight Ends. Really though, has there been much from Davis worth talking about to this point? Wasn't he supposed to be the "diamond in the rough" who this year was going to bust out? Beyond that, I could see a few possible losses in the veteran ranks that Mullin mentions, but also on the Defense as well. Probably more like the ones that were signed this last offseason (IE: Hayden, Willhite).

  17. Saw on the Chicago Bears website Robinson was the team’s selection to be a finalist of the Walter Payton - Man of the Year award. And he desires to remain in Chicago for the remainder of his career. Seems logical to me... I look forward to him being yet another Bear inducted into the Hall of Fame. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2019/12/10/21004628/allen-robinson-chicago-bears-all-time-franchise-johnny-morris-walter-payton-nagy-ryan-pace-contract

Landing Justin Fields added a new chapter that no one knew was coming. We figured this book was ending with the Red Rifle leading the Bears down a tanking season with hopes of landing a top 1-3 pick next year. Could you imagine going through that scenario and then the top QB prospect is from North Carolina. That would have been a nightmare. The magic that just happened guaranteed a sequel. As I look at this team and it's new needs, next season I am thinking they are looking for a WR and CB as high priority (2-3). It would be nice to get another WR with size and also find a solid replacement for Fuller. Then (5,6, & 7) S, OLB, ILB, & DT are all needs the D …

I've been reading some articles by some naysayers who question the positive outlook many of us have for the Bears offense in 2024. After all, we got a new OC to replace the dumbass we had last year. We added dynamic skill players to our offense. So why are they so negative? Do they dislike the Bears? So, I did some fact-checking. Last year, the Bears offense ranked #18 in points scored (360). Where did Seattle rank? They were #17 (364). I know we have a dynamic set of skill players, but we also have a rookie quarterback. Geno Smith, Metcalf, & Lockett are certainly a good set of players. So should we be concerned that they, with our new OC, were basically tied wi…

There's a lot of mention of "fire sale",etc...and I'm not sure that's the case. A few have mentioned here that we simply got rid of and got something for guys that weren't working out for us. If we see Bennett or Forte moved, then I think we're in a full scale youth movement. Until that happens, I think the regime stays their course. Keep drafting young talent, pick up a few key FA's and attempt to retain a handful of big contract guys. Bennett: I do see Bennett leaving after his contract, so there is a good reason to shop him. However, we can still use him. He's under contract for a little while and we can tag him. Forte: Either we get the hometown d…
