So this guy got 1 target and 1 reception in Week 1. Even with that week of low usage, he still is 5th amongst TEs in receptions and yards, 3rd for 1st Downs, and has the highest Catch Rate amongst the top 20 TEs this season. He is 8th in AAV for his contract amongst TEs, only 500K more than Friermuth. It feels like the Bears got a very solid deal with Kmet who is signed thru 2027. His cap hit is fixed, so every year it is going to become an even better deal.

He’s on the trade block, injury prone, and has a big contract. I’d call the Rams and offer a 4th, whatever salary split makes sense, and see how bad they want to dump him.

Olin Kreutz was on TTNL tonight, and said some really good things about Roushar, and what it takes to make an OL work in general. In short, Kreutz has some connection to Roushar, I think he played under him somewhere, and he said he was very similar in approach and temperament to Harry Heistand, which I think is a very good thing. Seems like we are going to be looking for players on the OL that have attitude. Finally.

Has anyone ever seen these guys before? Are they Chicago guys? I started watching this and the first Question: Does Caleb have everything to succeed? They questioned the weapons because some are new and not proven yet.. Then in the second question about Kmet being here in the future, Loveland is a better TE so he might be gone in 2 yrs. So Loveland is unproven and then in the second question, he is better than Kmet. Isnt that counterdicting yourself?

OK so here's a good one. Each of our running backs in a short pass drill. What you can clearly see here is how many steps it takes them to break their speed, and turn for the ball. So you see how they get off, break down, and then start up again and turn. Check out how efficient Monangai is. He is so strong it takes him fewer steps to break his route, and then his snap and turn is just lightning fast. You can just see the explosiveness. People forget how bad last year's Week 1 was because the Bears won, but I doubt people remember that the offense didn't score a TD (Stevenson had a Pick-6 and Owens had a Blocked Punt Return). The offense had 11 first downs, 5 passing, and had 148 total yards. This year they had 20 first downs, 10 passing, and had 317 total yards against a better defense. Williams' performance has also improved: 2024: 14-29, 93 yards, 48.3%, 0 TD, 0 INT, 3.2 Y/A, 2 sacks, 55.7 QB Rating, 22.5 QBR, 5-15 rushing. 2025: 21-35, 210 yards, 60.0%, 1 TD, 0 INT, 6.0 Y/A, 2 sacks, 86.6 QB Rating, 63.8 QBR, 6-58 rushing, 1 TD.

This is not a result of Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, or anyone else but Ryan Poles. You can't continually lose on trades and under draft year after year. 2025 Draft picks in the first 4 rounds have literally contributed zero to this team in 2 weeks, and the Bears had 5 picks in the first 4 rounds. In 2024, he drafted Williams #1 and Odunze #9, which were a wash. Most had Williams going #1 and Odunze at 8. He did pass on Brock Bowers and Thomas Jr to go with Odunze. Looks to be out for awhile or possibly the entire season. Crazy think players can get hurt outside of work and basically get workers comp. Good reason for a fire sale I guess. Clean house at deadline and reset for next year. Use this year for offensive development and to evaluate players.

In the last two games he has allowed 3 receptions for 16 yards on 12 targets with 3 PBUs, an INT, and a forced fumble + fumble recovery. PFF had the LVR game as his highest graded game of his career at 93.3 and the DAL game was his 3rd best. So in the last two weeks, Stevenson had 2 of his top 3 games of his career, and both games he was technically CB1. This is year 3 for him, but if he keeps this up, the Bears may want to get in front of an extension because he will only get more expensive.

Poles was saying Ozzy won't be back until well into the season next year. Kiran is the only available option still on the roster. Theo would have to be resigned back as a restricted free agent. It could be a draft pick even the first round is in play. I would suspect it has to do with could Ozzy come back to the level he was playing at when he was injured. Or a veteran Free agent. Does anyone think the possibility they resign Braxton Jones? I hate to say it but a free agent with a ton of starts may be in play.

Saw a post on the socials recently where I learned #4 is in a contract year and an UFA after this year unless…the Bears resign him. So do they? I’m of the opinion ‘yes’ they need to. He’s done everything asked of him. Gotten better with Johnson and so far (knock on wood) has been durable. They didn’t draft any new RBs and aside from Monangai (who may have durability issues) there’s really no one left in the RB room. The reason I'm optimistic, this year, is because Tom Thayer is finally optimistic. He hasn't been this optimistic since 05. The reason for this optimism is surprising on one end and quite simple on the other. Simple reason: Ben Johnson. Thayer is the insider that knows what a solid program looks like and he claims to have seen none better than what BJ has established.(I believe him). Combine all that with year two of the offense and magic may become reality. Referencing everything from huddle control to the LOS, Caleb and the returning vets are in sync, while having the ability to correct the youngsters in real time.
