CNNSI has a small piece where they question whether Cutler is a franchise QB. I have no issue with this question in general. I have my opinion, but it is a fair question. The issue I have is with their reasoning. They say a franchise QB is one who makes those around him better, and goes on to say Cutler did not do this. Hester may not have had the big leap in stats many hoped, but he did continue to improve with more catches, yards and average. Bennett barely saw the field his rookie year, but managed over 50 catches and over 700 yards. Okay, been talking about the WRs, but wanted to put a similar discussion out there for the secondary. How do you see it playing out (staff's view). How would you like to see it play out? Pompei has an acticle talking about how this may be one of the deepest (depth) bears teams in some time. Do you agree? Not sure I do. I like the makup of several units, and like the prospects as well, but deep? Offense. QB - I think few would say we are deep here. RB - Absolutely agreed, and I think most would too. Ditto for TE. I realize that it may seem waaaaaaaaaay early for this, but Yahoo has opened Fantasy Football 2010 for entrance. I'm wondering if people are interested in joining yet. It might just give us another time waster of football related things to talk about. I've already renewed the league Talkbears 2 and set a draft time of Sept 5th at 8:00pm. Draft invites have been sent to all of last year's teams. I'm looking forward to seeing where the Bears WRs are ranked. Any thoughts?

I read that OL Kevin Shaffer is no longer in the mix to be the starting left guard, and the fight will be between OG Johan Asiata and OG Lance Louis will compete for the job. So where does this leave Beekman as a back up? Is Shaffer that bad at OG and will be a back up OL? Does Tice think that Asiata and Louis are doing so well that one of them will be the starter this year? What are your thoughts?
