So I'm a week ahead on Bears' opponents. Alex Smith was pulled in the first half of San Francisco's game today with concussion-like symptoms. Figure at some point there'll be some questions about his availability for next Sunday as a consequence.

IMHO is the Bears are to win this game two things must happen. One is the the defense MUST rush and get pressure up the middle of the Oline. They will have three new starters in including the new center. This will force Manning to roll out of the pocket into the arms of O-gun,Brown and the fleet foot Anderson. I've seen several mention the hope that the Bears do not reach on draft day. This is especially true with the first round pick. Made me think of the following question: Would any of these guys be a reach? Tyron Smith Anthony Castonzo Nate Solder Mike Pouncey Gabe Carmini Derek Sherrod If the answer is yes, then it's a bit of surprise to me. But that's player evaluation for you. People disagree. If the answer is no, then there is no reason one of those guys shouldn't be available when the Bears pick. And the guy who they have rated the highest should be selected.

Just like some of the other position groups (O-Line and TE), I think we need a purge at this position. Keep ARob, but get rid of Gabriel and Miller via trade or just outright cut. Miller seems to have discipline issues, doesn't run the correct routes, is often out of position at the LOS, and seems to generally have a bad attitude. For a 2nd round pick that we traded up for, we should expect more. What is even worse about the Miller pick (and trade up), we could've selected DJ Chark or Michael Gallup, both were available at #51. We are going to get a good player in the second round at a position of need. Dont sleep on Ego Ferguson either or Jones from PSU. We will grab a good player there.
