Ok, so I took a look at the trade values for both of the Bears 2nd round picks and which teams had compatible trade value options based on the picks they had. The options are based on the total value the team would get back, the options are in order of value the Bears would get back, so Option 1 has the most value. For the 43rd pick, it has a value of 470. I was talking to a friend today who thinks the Bears barely break the top 5, or fall just outside, in power rankings. He pointed to the schedule said every team the Bears have played, other than the Packers, is bad, and the Bears lost that game. Are they ahead of the following teams? CBS traditionally hates the Bears, I was shocked to see them at #14 on their Power Rankings, I was thinking they were between 15-20 right now based on their record. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/powerrankings/ ESPN has the Bears at #20 NFL.com has the Bears at #22 Yahoo has the Bears at #18 So an aggregate has them at 18.5 which really feels spot on.

Gotta love the national media. We are now in the top 10 of most power rankings and our odds to make the playoffs is 3rd best in the league (behind LAR and KC). According to DVOA, we have the best defense in the league (by far) and the 2nd best team overall. We only have 3 games against teams that are in the top half of the league (LAR, GB, and NE). Those are ironically all home games, and the Rams is December 9th (Bear weather).

Post Week 16 games. 2018 was probably the last time the national media had the Bears ranked this high. Here are the top 10 power rankings and the Bears ranking: CBS Sports - 4th Yahoo - 5th NFL.com - 6th Sharp - 6th NBC/PFT - 7th ESPN - 8th The Score - 8th Fox/Brady - 9th USA Today - 9th nfelo - 10th Average - 7.2 It feels like any team in the top 10 has a shot at the Super Bowl, the Rams are the closest to a complete team and they just lost to the Seahawks. If the Bears beat the 49ers, they have to be considered a top 5 team, which is hard to believe, and it is wild to see some rankings already have them in the top 5.

Want to barf... look at what the "experts" (?) think about our team. Some posters here would probably agree with these guys from the comments I have read in the threads, but quite frankly, I think the Bears should be ranked no lower that 16th at the start of the season due to some question marks and will wind up in the top 10 by mid season, then top 5 by the end of the year. Its nice to think a national writer has us ranked that high. Elliot Harrison of NFL.com has us ranked 5th. I think that might be a little high, even with the amount of Kool aid I drink every year.

Was just thinking about how we have great optimism each year for our team. Over the last decade, has any team had better propaganda than what comes out of Halas Hall? Some years I'm full on kool aid, others I call BS. This year, I'm excited!

With 16 slots, it will be interesting to see how many outside players they sign. The Bears didn't claim anyone on the waiver wire, so all the external signings will technically be free agents.

I'm just gonna throw this out there but I'd love to see Vedvik signed to our practice squad. I'm not so sure it would help Piniero with his confidence but it would help me with my confidence. Others I'd like to see added: 2) Horsted 3) Bunting 4) Fitts...see if he can finally work his way into shape. At some point you'd think the embarrassment of being pushed all over the field by TEs week after week would motivate a guy. OTOH it might not be hard to find a better PS candidate at OLB than Fitts. 5) Nall...keep the clydesdale in the stable just in case. 6) Michael Joseph...he's improved a lot over last year but still has a ways…

Fontel Mines, TE CHI News: The Bears announced Sunday which players they signed for their practice squad. The players are as follows: DE Ervin Baldwin, LB Joey LaRocque and TE Fontel Mines. Hurst is back and on the PS. Bears added Deonte Thompson who looks somewhat intriguing for those who aren't fans of Mariani. 4.31 speed, filled in as kick returnee for Jacoby Jones in Baltimore. Bruce Callahan and Ify Somethingorother are gone.
