Here is my best 53-man guesstimate as of 8/5. Getting DL down to 9 is going to be tough. Blue/Bold is the Special Teamers. The Bears lost key ST contributors in DHC, J. Thomas, S. Weatherford, M. Adams, R. Griffin, and look like they will be losing Ebner's, and maybe even Jaylon Jones' ST snap share. 2 QB Fields, Justin 21/1 Walker, PJ U/CAR - This seems like a lock, a 3rd QB would be a waste. 4 RB Herbert, Khalil 21/6 Foreman, D'Onta U/CAR Johnson, Roschon 23/4 (ST) - replaces Ebner Homer, Travis U/SEA (ST) - replaces Griffin - I don't see more than 4, Ebner odd man out here. 1 FB - Blasingame, Khari U/TEN (ST) 3 TE …

Here is an interesting article suggesting what the Bears do this year. What I find interesting is they have Floyd doing 14 and 1/2 sacks. Glennon has a good year. Howard is a stud. Cohen adds some offense. Meridith has a good year but I think White has more of an impact than they suggest. With the added pass rush we will have more ints that they suggest. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2709581...leaders-in-2017

We all know how dumb Ted Phillips is when it comes to running a football team, so we know the odds are against the firing of Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace during the season. Here's the prediction: Ryan Pace starts the job saving process, because he knows he can't get a gig anywhere else, by talking to Teddy today. After talking to Teddy, he heads to the family and grows a set of nuts to save his job. While talking to momma and George, they make the decision to fire Nagy Monday morning after a home loss to the putrid Lions. I hate to think of Pace being with the team next year, as I am fully on record against his negligence. But, if you look at it honestly, would…

I'm going 0-16. Marshall is a woman beater, Cutler is a pussy, all of their FA's are either back-ups or ST players, their draft is already the worst ever, and Lovie is a douche. Oh, and Emery looks like a librarian. If they bring Ditka back, I'll immediately switch that prediction to 15-1. /endsarcasm

Now that we're inside two weeks before the draft, and we've gotten some idea of the players the Bears have brought in for workouts or observed at pro days, I'm wondering what people are thinking about what the Bears will do. This is not necessarily what you want them to do, but what you think will actually happen or what their strategy might be. I'm going to go all seven rounds, based on what I've been seeing in newspaper reports and who I think might be available when the Bears draft: 3) Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB, Indiana (PA) - I don't think any of the good FSs like Nate Allen or Chad Jones will be available, though the Bears would almost certainly take one of those…

OK, by my math, we're about 24 hours from the Bears pick - so who will it be? I saw either Kevin White or Danny Shelton and will ultimately guess Shelton, because I think White will be gone. The Bears would love to trade down just a couple spots, but no farther than the Browns at #12 (Rams would be ideal) and get an extra pick. If the Browns trade up to #2, maybe the Bears would be OK trading back farther, but I think the Browns would take Shelton if the Bears didn't. As it stands, the Rams only have six picks and probably don't want to lose more and after that is the Vikings, and I doubt the Bears want to help them go up and get someone they like. Ratliff is the…

  7. I think Ingelisias and Knox will get a chance to catch a few balls this year. I think Gilbert with fill in in the rotation. Freeman could by the end of the year to become a starter at SLB. Moore will take McBrides spot on the roster. Louis will become our blocking TE. The player contributing the most from this draft will be Melton, as a situational pass rusher and the key here, OUR GOALLINE RB THAT WILL PUNCH IN TDS WE COULDNT DO LAST YEAR FROM THE THREE.

Just wanted to see who you guys think will lead some statistical categories. Here are mine: TD receptions: Olsen (7) Receptions: Hester (71) Receiving Yards: Hester (1123) Tackles: Briggs (149) Sacks: Ogunleye (10.5) Interceptions: Tillman (6) Forced Fumbles: Tillman (7) Biggest surprise: Ogunleye (special mention: Iglesias, Kevin Jones) Biggest letdown: Vasher (special mention: Anderson [at this point, is him struggling even a letdown though?], Bennett) Bears finish 11-5 and win the NFC with a 27-13 win at home vs Atlanta.

A lot of you hate doing this when the schedule is released because teams improved a lot through the draft and FA, so now that it's all over with, here I go.. FALCONS WIN ---I think this is a toss up, but hey, it's a home game and the Bears have a great D while Atlanta does not. @ Saints LOSS ---This is tough, but I think the Saints will come out on top. Better offense, period. PACKERS WIN ---Another tough won, but the Bears and Pack always play each other tough recently. I give the edge to the Bears because it's at home. PANTHERS WIN ---Whether it's Clausen or Newton, the Bears are the better team. @ Lions LOSS ---I firmly stand by my statement that…

  10. I'll start with the Bears.. I've gone back and forth on this one all Summer. At first, I was thinking there was no way they could be worse than a 10 win team with the additions they made on the defensive line and the fact that the offense is in its 2nd year under Trestman. However, over the last several weeks, it has become readily apparent that this team may have more questions than I can ever remember a Bears team having in recent memory. -Do they have A LB'er? -Do they have any reliable safeties? -Do they have a punt returner? -Do they have a kickoff returner? -Can Jared Allen stay healthy and productive? -Will any of the rookie defensive players m…

A friend who is a Cowboys fan told me he isn't that impressed with Dak so far. He said he's very inconsistent on long passes (the knock on him in the draft) but that he's good on the short routes. Of course he's also good at scrambling around and that makes up for a lot. His biggest concern was that Prescott is ineffective and often makes bad throws in the red zone. Impossible to tell if our defense will be able to find any advantage in that mix especially with so many players out with injury. We might get lucky in the red zone but Dez Bryant can make up for a lot of inaccuracies on a pass. On the other hand it all likely means Dallas will focus heavily on th…

I kept seeing the media talk about how the preseason record doesn't necessarily correlate to regular season success. So I thought about looking at it from something else that is a good measure of success over time (score differential). So I looked at all teams which allowed 40 or more points than their opponents in the preseason and see how they fared in the regular season (and I think there is some correlation there). Take a look: 2015 PIT -49 (10-6, WC) NO -47 (7-9) STL -45 (7-9) 2014 BUF -41 (9-7) KC -48 (9-7) DAL -56 (12-4, DIV) CHI -41 (5-11) 2013 JAX -51 (4-12) SD -44 (9-7) TB -49 (4-12) ATL -43 (4-12) 2012 NYJ -57 (6-10) …

Obviously for me the rookies starting in the O Line will be my #1 concern. Want to see Cutler succeed. Hopefully the WR's will all play. No excuses! This offense needs to look professional tonight. We'll get a good idea of who the coaches are likely to cut at various positions. Is Peppers playing? If so I sure hope we get more pass rush than last week. Even if he isn't, there's no excuse for that. Starters will play a quarter or so if history is any indication. Has Nerdman said otherwise? Would it be so bad to see Forte hit an actual hole the line opened for him? And, of course, let's stay healthy!

Just thought I'd open a thread for tonight's game. I hope Cutler plays a quarter with the starters and then Jimmy shows he can handle this offense at least as well as we saw him do last week. Obviously the D Line will be a big thing I'll be watching. If they can build on the success they had last week that'll be very positive. #1 goal: Stay healthy!

It's game day. I would like to see Fields and the offensive starters play at least 2 series and hopefully score on at least one. I want to see Fields getting the ball out quick with timing. Main players I will be watching besides Fields: Wright and Claypool on offense. The entire D-Line and Gordon on defense. The media is going to be so polarizing after this one. If Fields looks good as a passer, look out MVP. If he looks bad, he is a bust. There is no in between.

It was really hard to evaluate the team as a whole with so many players injured. On offense, no Monty, Pringle, Jones, Kmet, Reiff, Griffin, O'Shaughnessy, Harry and Patrick. At least 4 starters out. On defense, no Quinn, Muhammad, Blackson, Smith, Gordon, Vildor, Graham, Jackson, or Cruikshank. At least 5 starters out. Fields, playing against first teamers, didn't turn the ball over. This may not seem like a big deal but no fumbles or INTs is a positive. He looked much better overall, but with so many starters out, the entire offense is a work in progress. However, the Getsy offense already looks better than the Nagy offense. The Bears and Chiefs both h…
