Yesterday I listened to Lovie's press conference: http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/mul...lip=Y&rn=17 and when he was talking about the WRs (5min mark) he suddenly stopped and said "he's excited to see what Greg Olsen can do in his new role, and his role is changing." Lovie usually doesn't say anything beyond his usual cliches so for him to go out of his way to mention Olsen like this means there is something to it. What is his new role? Anyone heard about this? Anyone seeing anything at camp? From the Trib video all I've seen so far was that he lined up wide, outside the WR, on one play. Not sure if that means much as he lined up some at WR…

I have about 8-10 Jerseys (keeping Neal Anderson). Tons of bobbleheads, helmets, cards, shirts, McFarlane and other figures, tools, pens, 85 bears stuff (original and boxes). Once i get through puking tonight I will take some pictures. First $200 takes everything Lovie and Jerry, burn in your luxury midtown penthouses.

The Bears are one of eight teams eligible to be forced to be on Hard Knocks. So if no team wants it, HBO/NFL gets to choose one of those eight teams. That would easily be the Bears. Aside from the fact we are the biggest single team market. Angles include Jared Allen, The Black Unicorn, Cutler/Kirsten Cavalleri, Peanut . . . that would be huge. I know the Bears would hate it and management would so no. But I'd love it. I'm currently not an HBO subscriber but I'd sign up to see that.

Really loving Terrance Brooks at FS. I think Donald is the pick at 14, assuming he's there. His instincts are top notch and fast as hell. Plus he's got the boom on his tackling. These two are day 1 starters and solidify the front and back of the D. Hopefully can find a decent LB to step in

We picked up a TE that was waived by Jets Chris Pantale. Was a first year and doesnt have any stats.

Opinions on players selected, this draft brings foward something I am not used to see. There were two core groups with gaping needs, OL and LB. The Bears spent the first four picks selecting players for exactly those positions. There is no DE or Safety that were staples of the previous regime, depending on the 7th round to bring youth to the Ol. I like that the team this year saw needs and aggressively attacked the position. While I may or may not be excited about the players selected, Emery gets credit for not ignoring needs like the previous administration. I'm excited to see how this turns out. Noteworthy perhaps only because that leaves us with just three safeties on the roster with workouts coming up. Maybe we have our eye on a FA and this is a precursor to that move (Jeromy Miles would make some sense to me), or maybe it's just clearing guys out we don't see a future with. As it stands though I would expect a safety in the draft somewhere. I've been on record as not much of a fan of this safety class. Anyone have someone they really like? I'd personally prefer a good coverage guy over a big hitter, so I'm partial to a mid-round pick on a guy like Adrian Amos or Damarious Randall.

Cutler day to day with thumb sprain. Trevathan thumb surgery tomorrow. Does not sound like they are putting him on IR. Houston looks like he may be done for the year with a knee injury (I would say he is done as a Bear). Goldman - Ankle sprain, no break. Waiting on MRI. Staff is positive at this point. Garza wasn't bad at all last year, it certainly helped him to have competent guards on both sides of him, so I'm cool with this. With Garza and Boggs re signed I can't imagine they draft a center now. Deal is for 1.5M, not sure if its all cap money or what, I'm sure it will get broke down later

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Cutty had his Jimmy Mac moment lowering his shoulder into the DB! Loved it! Hated it! But it all ended well. OVERALL POSITIVES: 1. We still have an opportunistic D. We are generally bending, but not breaking. Other than the odd big play, we seem to do fairly well keeping folks out of the end zone. 2. I'm thrilled with the OL! We went from awful to good.
