Ruskell hasn't whiffed in the draft nearly as often as Angelo, but he's also utterly failed to bring in impact players since he left Tampa Bay. He drafted exactly ONE Pro Bowler in Seattle - Lofa Tatupu. Even Angelo's done better than that. Maybe the whole will be better than the sum of the parts, but I can't see this move helping the Bears' front office learn how to draft.

Remember when a lot of here were clamoring over Myles Jack LB in the draft. He looks like a steal for the Jags now as a 2nd RD pick.

We hoped we would trade down in round #1. Draft multiple players to start on opening day and help us in the future. We traded up. Drafted a QB who will start in 2018. Traded down. Drafted a TE who might help us in 2018. At best, this is a mediocre team next year. That's at best.

POOR performance that leaves us with lots of questions but if we'd been told we were 3-1 after the 1st qaurter of the season, we'd have took it Panthers next week with a rookie QB!

Jackson has a cap hit of $5M this year, which balloons to $15M in 2022, and would be a dead cap of $18.5M as a cut or $8.9M as a post-June 1 cut ($6.1M in savings). In 2023, he has a cap hit of $17M and dead cap of $9.5M. So there are some options. The Bears could go the post-June 1 cut route in 2022, then save the $6.1M for in-season moves or allow it to roll over into 2023. That way he is off the roster as soon as possible with minimal impact on the cap. If they keep him, then he eats up $15M next year and a roster spot, which seems worse to me. Obviously we are not contending for anything this year and in general, I am a believer in keeping draft picks (if not acquiring more picks), but given how thin we are at the wide receiver position, should the Bears be actively looking at trading for someone who can be a long-term piece (vs. waiting until free agency/draft). SO I think these will be our choices for our pick; Te'o/LB overall ratings on two sites; 10th and 16th Ogletree/LB overall ratings on two sites; 12th and 29th Etrz/TE overall ratings on two sites; 24th and 32nd Cooper/OG overall ratings on two sites; 20th and 23rd so who do you take with that first pick? ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Cutty had his Jimmy Mac moment lowering his shoulder into the DB! Loved it! Hated it! But it all ended well. OVERALL POSITIVES: 1. We still have an opportunistic D.
