The way I see it, the Bears QB and RB situation are nearly the same. QB: Two average starters who have done well at times, horrible at others. Nobody from other teams is scared of either Bears' QB. RB: Two average starters (and a younger guy who is outside the box), who have some good qualities, but several bad ones as well. Nobody from other teams is going to stack the box because they're afraid of the Bears' running game. So, all the talk about Mendenhall got me thinking.... What would you guys think if the Bears selected Brohm at 14? Assuming Ryan is gone, then Brohm is basically regarded as the second best QB, which is essentially what selecting…

I know there are varying opinions on whether the Bears should spend the #3 pick on a QB. I also know there are a ton of mocks that have the QBs going all over the place. Often I've seen a "top 3" QB drop into the second round. Assuming the Bears pass on QB in the 1st, and one of the top 3 QBs slide, is it a guarantee that the Bears pick said QB if he fell to them? If somehow Trubisky (highly unlikely), Watson (unlikely), or Kizer (fairly unlikely) fell to the Bears in the 2nd round, I think it's a 100% guarantee that the Bears would have to draft said QB. Agree?

Every year as the draft gets closer the hype on quarterbacks intensifies and the bears are always needing a quarterback, I look back to a list that Bill Parcels made as it relates to drafting a quarterback. 1. 3 year starter 2. Be a senior 3. Graduate from college 4. start 30 games 5. win 23 games 6. post a 2-1 td to int ratio 7. >60% completion By that list most quarterbacks wouldn't get drafted. Chicago is not like Jacksonville. It is an intense football market. So I took 3 things from that list that I would imagine are important. Games played (as most are juniors 3 year starter is out). year completi…

He wouldn't be a bad backup, but obviously if Orton doesn't pan out the Bears would still be in need for a QB.

Adam Schefter Will Delhomme return to Carolina next season? Posted: January 11th, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Carolina Panthers, Derek Anderson, Jake Delhomme, Michael Vick Streeter Lecka/Getty Images Tampa Bay is no longer the lone NFC South team expected to be looking for a quarterback this offseason. With his woeful performance Saturday night, Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme made Tarvaris Jackson look like Bart Starr. In fact, the five interceptions Delhomme threw Saturday night were two more than Starr threw in his entire postseason career that consisted of 213 passing attempts. With his 39.1 passer rating (which seemed more like 0.0), Delh…

QB Rating Calculator A bit off topic but for those who like to crunch numbers like I do I found this QB Rating Calculator and thought I would share the link with you. I have seen others in the past but this one is pretty slick, IMO.

Caleb is the starter. I am a huge fan of Tyson Bagent's as well. I think he is the backup. Case Keenum is here to provice Caleb with advice from his experience. So do we keep 3 QBs on the roster? If you put Bagent on the practice squad someone will steal him and make him QB2 somewhere. And Keenum is too old to even put on the PS. What do you think we will do? If we get a good trade offer for Bagent, then I understand that - but they JUST extended him, but I guess that also might help bring interest in a trade too... I think Bagent is a more valuable backup than Keenum, but is Keenum just for training camp?

OK, the combine is over, and some pro days have occurred. Who are you picking, and why, as the next QB for the Chicago Bears?

  12. This morning I was scrolling through nfl.com and they reminded me that Mitch is the worst in the league who’ve started a game this year so let’s look forward to our next play caller. Here’s a few names that should be available in this years draft. Gone: Tua, Herbert, Burrows Potential NFL starting QBs that may be available Mond, Bryant, Hurts, Francois

QB talk gets mentioned in almost every thread, since it wont be going away until after the draft, might as well keep it in one spot. My take: I want Fields to succeed, i want Bagent to be good, for me its what is our best course going forward. Option 1) Fields balls out and we use our 2 top picks to acquire a boat load of top 100 talent. I would prefer to get MHJ somewhere in the mix. Justin has 7 games to prove himself or I will be out with him. Even if he plays well Poles may decide there is a better QB to draft, the big money he will have to pay in 2025 may already have sealed his fate. Option 2) Draft the next great QB , the problem is which one is it?…

OK, this year is going the way it is going. Down the tubes fast. And with our current QB's on the roster I don't see any way they will help us in the future. They will keep playing Mitch for the rest of the year but I don't see him as the answe going forward. We have an above average defense and it seems like good offensive with the running backs and wide receivers on the roster. If Burton can get back to normal health he is serviceable for the next two+ years. The offensive line is a problem but I think with a 2nd round pick or two it will work its way into above average. Two me that leaves us a QB short with only a few years window open for a good playoff run. …

I've read where some qb's (Drew Brees and Eli Manning) are paying for and running team workouts. Is Cutler doing this and do you think we will be behind if the Bears are not doing this?

  16. Started by adam,

So I have always liked QBR as a way to represent QB production over other methods. I just didn't know that it had such a strong correlation to wins. Looking over the first 3 weeks of the season, a team has at least an 80% chance of victory when their QBR is in the top 10. On the flip side, a team has over a 70% chance at a loss if they are in the bottom 10. The outliers are usually super close games. Purdy had the #6 QBR and lost 27-24 this week. In Week 2, Hurts had the #3 QBR and lost 22-21, Burrow lost 26-25, and Jones lost 21-18. 3 losses by 5 pts. In Week 1, Richardson had the #1 QBR and lost 29-27, and Murray had the #4 QBR and lost 34-28. On the low end…

I think it was just last week and at least a couple of us were speculating on how the QBs would fare as the draft analysis moved forward. I said I felt Kizer would move up quite a bit from his late 1st/early 2nd Rd slot. It seems that process is starting to happen. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/nf...10-with-no-qbs/ Here Kizer is ranked 13th overall, 2 spots behind Trubisky who is 11th overall. Jeremiah has Kizer 15th overall, Trubisky way down the road at 31st. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000077...-2017-nfl-draft It's still early and these are just a couple opinions but overall I get the sense both of these QBs will …

Going into this season, we knew it would take some time to get on task with the new systems on O and D. Through week four we have seen some progression. On D, getting Booker, Jarrett and Edwards back is going to help a lot. Edmunds continues to disappoint, due to his unwillingness to stick his body into a running lane. He's my first cut candidate this off season creating an off season need. We are getting no pass rush whatsoever. This is on Poles for neglecting the position the last two drafts. It's a termination offense that won't happen. Hopefully Booker and Shemar can provide a spark because Sweat and Dexter can break through rice paper. Needs: FS, …
