Linebacker is a definite strength of this 2009 version of the Chicago Bears. Lance Briggs is a perennial Pro Bowler, Brian Urlacher is one of the better middle backers in the game, and newly named starting strongside LB Pisa Tinoisamoa has me wondering what the Rams were thinking in releasing him. Tinoisamoa (does this guy have a nickname yet) has quickly become a fan favorite. His speed and big hits have endured him to the fans, and his versatility (he played weakside LB in the past) could pay dividends in the long run. I'm thinking of signing up for NFL Field Pass so I can listen to the Bears broadcast call rather than the idiots that normally call the games. I do have a program that can record audio from an application so the thought came to mind to record the games and replace the audio with the Bears announcers. Would make for a cool option on a DVD to select either the original broadcast audio or the Bears call. I can usually get the broadcast on the radio but the signal comes and goes. Has anyone here had it in the past, has it this year and has an opinion on whether it's worth it or not?

In the draft I preferred Edmunds over Smith but after watching this video on Smith's background I understand better why we went in this direction. My best draft memories were being on the old site when: 1. The debate when we drafted Ced Benson over Mike Williams when guys were so pissed they were ready to travel cross country to kill each other, and 2. The following year when we traded out of the 1st two take Hester & Manning. Some were ready to burn down Halas. The Super Bowl seemed to lighten everyone up. Now the oldest player on the Bears roster at 32, with only 7 players 30 and older. Porter and Royal are two of them and potential cuts this offseason. The only free agent we brought in this year over 30 was Demps.

I need some feedback from our resident draft gurus. I did a bit of research on safeties in the draft and was surprised to see what appears to be a very thin group this year in terms of talent. I favor the draft analysis at the links below because their player profiles seem to be very accurate when guys get to the next level. If these guys are right, there are a couple prospects at the top and then the drop off is very rapid to day 3. There just doesn't seem to be a lot to choose from between Rd 2/3. This does not seem to be the right year to be going into a draft needing help at both safety positions. Maybe that's why we threw so many bodies at the SS position. …

So was watching an episode of "First Take" with Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless and they talked about a possibility of Brandon doing a part time gig. From what I understand BM will be taping segments of 'Inside the NFL' every week on his off day. In order to do that he'll take a charter jet from Chicago to NY each week.
