http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...om-back-injury/ Johnny Knox faces long road to recovery from back injury Posted by Michael David Smith on February 8, 2012, 4:12 PM EST AP Bears receiver Johnny Knox cracked a facet joint in his spinal column when he was bent backward awkwardly during a December game against the Seahawks, and when initial reports said he would need 3-4 months to recover, that sounded like good news compared to how ugly the injury looked. But now comes word that the 3-4 months estimate may have been overly optimistic. When a fan asked Knox on Twitter last week whether he thinks he can play next season, Knox didn’t answ…

He was just on Sirius radio and said he wants more than Jahri Evans' $56 million. He also said he hasn't talked to the Saints about a new deal. Sorry, but $60 million for a guard is too much.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...t-this-weekend/ Bears, Forte will meet this weekend Posted by Josh Alper on February 24, 2012, 10:31 AM EST Reuters Contract talks between the Bears and running back Matt Forte will get underway at the combine this weekend. Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports that the team and Forte’s representatives will discuss a long-term contract in advance of Forte becoming a free agent. Forte’s made no secret of his desire for such a deal over the last year, but nothing happened while Jerry Angelo was the team’s General Manager. These will be the first meetings on the topic since Phil Emery replaced Angelo earlie…

what to do this offseason and what is available... #1 priority should be a LT to keep our franchise player off of IR. what are the options? 1. convert chris williams back to his projected position as left tackle unless tice won't budge on his quality evaluation of williams at that position. if that's the case we have another angelo bust. 2. it's always a thin market for good, young, FA left tackles. the only options i have seen both come from san diego and both have questions in regards to health issues. as i have not watched many charger games i am basing this call mainly on what i have read and not seen so take that with a grain of salt. A) marcus m…

RT @BradBiggs: #Bears could target #Seahawks John Carlson in free agency if they're seeking a tight end upgrade.

Texans and Arian Foster reached agreement on a five-year, $43.5 million deal that includes $20.75 million guaranteed. per Shefter I think this is what Forte would be looking for.

With all the shit going down in NOs, would it be interesting if they let Brees go, and signed P. Manning as there new QB. That would be a big distraction to the pending issues that will go down in the south.

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...e-agency-primer Where they stand: The Chicago Bears lead the NFC North in available cap room, sitting on approximately $30 million. But it’s important to note that cap room shouldn’t be viewed as a blank check; especially when considering the Bears would likely be looking to extend several of their core players with contracts ending in the next couple of years. While upgrades on offense seem most logical of potential Bears moves during free agency, given the need to surround quarterback Jay Cutler with more weapons, it’s believed that coach Lovie Smith wants to revamp a defense led by four Pro Bowl players -- linebackers L…

V Jack Super Mario Nicks Colston If the Bears are going to go after 1 big time FA, which one do you think will pay off the most? Im torn on this one 2 reasons Nicks, makes Cutler and Forte lives easier in both the pass and run, there still is a chance to draft a WR or even sign a wr like Royal and Draft one too Mario- makes the entire defense better, CB and Safety both become less important of needs(still a need but not as imnportant), G-Men did it with the best Dline in the NFL. Also gets the D younger. I have watched very little on Vjack, is this guy a top 5 WR(i know he tore the Bears up)??? I feel that you never hear him men…

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7677375/...lions-cap-space If this is accurate and the Redskins are penalized with the removal of 36 million in cap space. I don't see how they can sign Jackson. Granted they can split this penalty into two seasons, but I don't see the benefit of backloading this penalty with so much lost with RGIII trade. This will give new found leverage to the bears in signing jackson. If he wants to win and make good money the bears are a logical fit. If he wants to be a rich loser then he should just sign in Tampa.

Emery's first call should be to OT Eric Winston then to wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Then guard Carl Nicks. Then safety LaRon Landry. Those players fill more glaring needs and would represent a wiser allocation of funds than Williams, likely the most expensive free agent on the market. Then try to sign Kamerion Wimbley and find a good CB in FA and then draft Floyd a LB,CB

Since we signed Marshall(WR) and Campbell (QB) I think going after Williams will cost to much, so would go after Kamerion Wimbley and put him at DE instead....saves lots of money and gets a good pass rusher. Now with that we might be able to land either Grubbs/Nicks (G) and or Winston(OT) which would make our Oline better than las year. In the draft get either Floyd or Hill in the first and we are good in the Offense side of the ball. Then there is talk of adding Hayden at CB, Carlson at TE, Landry at safety we might have a great team next year.

- Pretty excited about Marshall. - Indicated he talked to Marshall yesterday and Marshall is very bummed about the incident and perception but Cutler said Marshall is a good guy and Cutler will do what he needs to keep him out of the club. He said don't be too quick to judge Marshall though - When talking to Marshall said they needed to be patient and he's going to have to work and get familiar with the offense, etc. - They talked a bit about Weems, he didn't know much about Weems - Talked about Eddie Royal signing with the Skins and Cutler interupted saying he had not been signed, indicated he'd love to have Royal on the Bears but it was dependent on if the pr…

Every year QBs go down and teams scramble for a QB that can take their place because they do not feel they have a good enough backup in place. I am very comfortable with both backups we have. If a team goes hunting for a emergency QB because of injuries to their starter, the Bears would be in a great position as I feel they could actually get a decent draft choice for Campbell, possibly a 3rd rounder, if a team was hurting and needed a QB with promise and starting experience to come in. Just a thought, and although I hope we keep him as an insurance policy, you never know!!!

The Eagles trade for D.Ryan from Houston. It was for a 4th round pick and a swap of 3rd rounders. Boy would it have been nice to see him in Chicago.
