Our effective rookie salary pool is about 3.1M which means we are just under 8M in available cap space to use on FA (or resigning existing players). That is more money than I thought. I presume we will keep some in reserve for in-season need signings (as long as use some of the space on future extensions) but I also am guessing when vets get cut we will be in a pretty good position.

Just saw on PFT that NE is looking at Wale. Mentioning this because just last week, several spoke about how surprised they were Wale had not been signed yet.

1. In the offseason, I think we'll let Clark walk, re-sign Rex (2 years, 4 million), let Booker walk, re-sign Lloyd (2 years, $6 million), and I think we'll release Hillenmeyer. 2. Nothing unusual here. Extended contract holdout and soft tissue injury. It's not serious but it seriously complicates his chances of being a starter in week 1 and I doubt he'll play this weekend. For the first time in a long time, the NFC North gets a decent break, playing two of the weaker divisions in the league. We draw the AFC South and NFC East, which are the two divisions with a potential 8-8 Division Winner. With this info, we need to be all in for next year, as I don't know when we will get this type of opportunity again. It also figures that we could have up to 3 NFC North teams in the playoffs next year. Here is what I want, and I'm being completely serious. 4th-Pick Desmond King. If he's not available, which is likely, I want to double down on OT. Sharpe, Davenport, Johnson. Pick 2 of 3. 5th-Ryan Switzer, WR, UNC. Seriously. I've been singing his praises for months. Great possession WR. Unguardable. Fearless returner. Trubisky' favorite target. 6th-If King was there in round 4, pick Chad Wheeler, OT, USC. Otherwise, Draft secondary. A little surprised that they went with a new guy as apposed to just bringing up Dunn or Williams. Edwards was a backup on a talented LSU team (that featured Ego) but the scouting reports I read say he has NFL talent. Has those long 35"+ arms that I remember reading Fangio likes. Talking w/ a fellow bear fan, and he brought up Michael Johnson. At one time, we seemed to be tied to MJ w/ our top pick. Since then we traded away our pick, but also, MJ seems to have slip. I told him I do not think he will slide all the way to our pick, but his arrow does seem to be pointing down as Kiper, McShay and Mayock all have him falling past us. I'd LOVE to have him as our offensive coordinator. In 2010 when he was the OC in Carolina, they ranked #7 on offense. He's currently working as a special assistant in Indy. It will be interesting to see if they let us interview him.

Ok, so I took a look at the trade values for both of the Bears 2nd round picks and which teams had compatible trade value options based on the picks they had. The options are based on the total value the team would get back, the options are in order of value the Bears would get back, so Option 1 has the most value. For the 43rd pick, it has a value of 470.
