With the drafting of Chris Conte, there's an assumption the D Manning is gone. The thing is, will Manning even be a free agent? Pending more court rulings, there's a good chance the lock-out will again be lifted and that the NFL will use 2010 rules. Under those rules, Manning would again not be a free agent. On a side note, Manning had a good season and after 5 years, we finally discovered his best position is SS. I wouldn't mind having him back.

I believe we will take him.

The Chicago Bears have placed quarterback Jay Cutler and running back Matt Forte on injured reserve according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

George McCaskey met with the the media and explains why he signed off on the deal after first saying no and then McDonald on his own flew in to meet with him and convinced George of his sincerity and he says that there are only 3 players that he as chairman got involved in the personnel matter and that is B Marsh, Sam Hurd and Ray McDonald.

We went out and got this guy pretty quickly after he got cut and he's been coached by Reggie Herring before. There are so many layers to this as it ends up essentially being a trade that will give the Bears HHCD and more than likely a comp pick while Packers get Amos and the Redskins 4th rounder. The Bears hired Jim Arthur as Strength and Conditioning coach today. Arthur was a protege and assistant of Rusty Jones, who was our S&C coach from 2005 - 2013 during the Lovie Smith era. Rusty is widely respected around the league and works in Indianapolis now. It's pretty clear that we are going back to the Tony Dungy / Lovie Smith tree for a 4-3 cover 2 type defense, and supporting staff philosophies, all the way down to S&C. And this is a very good sign. Thayer has some good analysis on our fullback and how he impacted the game. There was some discussion after the Giants game about how ineffective we were on runs up the middle but it was hit and miss.
