So there has been a lot of media energy on this lately, so I thought it deserved its own thread. It seems that the idea comes from a couple of data points, first Poles said during the Senior Bowl that they assess every position, every year, including QB. So from the trade Fields side, this is an indication that Poles is not all-in on Fields. That's it. On the flip side, Poles knows he loses some leverage if it is known that he is moving off the pick regardless. Also, Poles could be just talking about the QB position as a whole which includes backup and 3rd/PS QB. This to me is a weak argument to believe the Bears are considering trading Fields. The next data poi…

I have read in several spots where Arz. likes Glennon/QB but at 7 is too high to take him. They will select Fisher/OT at that spot, but will have to trade up to get Glennon. so they have #38,4th round 67 and they have two 6th round picks. So i just used Walters mock as an example of who could be there. the trade would be our 20 for 38,67 and a 6th rounder. I am not sure how this rates on the traded picks scale, but maybe swapping our 4th round picks would be more equal. 38-Larry Warford/OG (also the top 2 TEs) 50(our pick) they had us taking Austin/WR but I would select Reddick/LB 67-Marcs Wheaton/WR-speed guy 114(our pick) Kelce/TE

Let's say the draft unfolds like this (unlikely maybe, but not unthinkable): 1) Dolphins - Jake Long, OT, Michigan 2) Rams - Chris Long, DE, Virginia 3) Falcons - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU 4) Raiders - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC 5) Chiefs - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College 6) Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State Or something like that. So, at #7, both Darren McFadden and Ryan Clady are available, and the Patriots are more than willing to move down. A swap of #14, #44 & #75 to the Patriots and #7 & #63 to the Bears works almost exactly in the pick value chart (1775 to 1776). 1. Do you move up? 2. If so, do you take Clady or McFadden (or so…

I don't know if any of you have ever followed YourBoyRoy. He used to video tape Training Camp in Bourbonais a few years ago and would upload it onto youtube for the fans that couldn't make it there. Because of him the Bears Org. posted that no video taping practice would be allowed, yet this also forced ChicagoBear.com to raise their standards of the Camp Coverage on their site. Roy has never recieved even a pat on the back for this. LOL....but, he is also a friend of mine and makes some excellent videos breaking down some of the major plays in games and shares a lot of the same oppinion that I do of our team. Check out his video and post on here what you think about…

Trestman said today that there wasn't any mental errors today. As opposed to yesterday there were quite a few. This could be huge if true. Mental errors destroyed us last yr.

Visited Bears training camp today with my brother and his boys. Observations: 1 - Much more like Platteville than Bourbonnais. Platteville was very laid back. Bourbonnais was was too corporate for my taste. 2 - Jaylon Johnson had 2 picks of Andy Dalton. The 2nd was beautifully timed where he jumped over the receiver on a long pass to haul it in. Dalton did have a nice throw to Allan Robinson on the sidelines. 3 - Justin Fields made a fantastic throw to Jesse James on a deep side-line route that went right over the top of the defender Charles Snowden. It really was a thing of beauty. 4 - Watched the defensive line prac…

Has anybody been to this? I scored tickets and I was just wondering what to expect since I’ve never been there. I attended camp at Bourbonais every year but this is a new experience.

I was looking over our roster thinking about our starting lineup for this season and was surprised to see we really have just two battles for starting roles in training camp. I see our starters as: (names in caps have to battle) S: Conte, Wright (settled) I think there is a lot of competition for the spots behind these guys but can't see anyone pushing for a starting job, however the depth may be decent in terms of talent (Zib, Steltz, Hardin). CB: Tillman, Jennings Hayden is first off the bench here and behind him I can't believe we're looking at Zach Bowman again. LB: Anderson, Williams, Briggs. (settled --- however, Bostic might cha…

OK so here's a good one. Each of our running backs in a short pass drill. What you can clearly see here is how many steps it takes them to break their speed, and turn for the ball. So you see how they get off, break down, and then start up again and turn. Check out how efficient Monangai is. He is so strong it takes him fewer steps to break his route, and then his snap and turn is just lightning fast. You can just see the explosiveness. I'd also note the order they are doing the drill in - thats the current pecking order. Hilarious that Homer is above Monangai. Mon is coming for all of you! And I gotta say, if Monangai is a true stud, that's gonna make thos…

So camp is over and for all intents and purposes the season starts on Sat. My question is who will be named the QB? “It’s not easy. It’s not clear cut. We feel really good about both of them,” Nagy said today from Halas Hall. He also said that the entire organization is pleased with both quarterbacks. I know that is coach speak but I have not read or heard anything that is inspiring. And I was all in on trading for Foles in the middle of last season. So I think they go with MT and give him 6 games to succeed or fail. If he does not reach .500 they have to pull him or Foles if that is who they choose. Next is the running back. "When ask…

I'm still fighting off the boredom of July so it's time to ask about what folks are expecting out of our players who didn't contribute much last year or who weren't even on the roster. Given how bad our D was there are plenty of opportunities for someone to garner attention in training camp. On offense it's a different story but there are some spots such as backup RB, 3rd WR, that figure to see some serious competition. I'm going with Kyle Fuller. I was very impressed by his highlight videos (game film not just highlights) and I think he's an excellent football player with outstanding instincts and smarts. I think he shows up early and often in camp, even aga…

We're one week out from the start of training camp and it's time to get a feel for the players everyone is expecting to have a breakout season. I'm expecting Alshon Jeffrey to step up this year. He worked hard this offseason and is in far better shape than he was last year. I also think he learned some valuable lessons in those late games with all his pass interference penalties and will be more subtle in how he uses his size advantage this season.

Just one more day of waiting until we start getting feedback on this years team looks. Who will be this years "surprise" and who will take the disappointment trophy away from Marcus Harrison (if anyone)? Surprise: I'm stuck choosing between the two Corey's (Wooten and Graham) but I'm going to go with Corey Graham. By all accounts he's had an excellent offseason and the speed work he did is paying off on the field. After being cast aside last year he returns this year as a viable CB option for us and gives us some desperately needed depth at this position. Disappointment: Jarron Gilbert. A 3rd Rd pick just a year ago he wasn't ready to see the field. Afte…

Hope springs eternal and then reality sets in. Here's my thoughts on who steps up and who steps down. Surprise: Mitchell Trubisky. I think from the first week in camp it will be clear he can play in this league. A rookie practicing against the same team every day and playing preseason games against backups does not make him ready to start in week 1. Nonetheless I expect to hear quite a bit of positive reviews about Trubisky during camp. Disappointment: Eddie Jackson. I was going to put Fuller in here but he's fighting for a job at this point even if it's not in Chicago. I've seen a lot of hype about Jackson after the draft but IMO he was just ok …

We're just more than a week out from the start of training camp. Scout.com has a good article on potential surprise cuts. Some on their list I'd say wouldn't be a surprise and have been discussed here during the offseason (i.e. Carey). http://www.scout.com/nfl/bears/story/15632...-cut-candidates I think Bostic is on the bubble big time. I don't know if he's healthy yet but he has a lot of catching up to do. Aside from that when you go back and recall who Fangio said he felt he could build his defense around Bostic name was pushed aside for players like SMC and Jones. Missing an entire offseason of practices is not helpful for a player like Bostic who d…
