The Saints playoff game could very well be his last as a Chicago Bear. If he's a good QB, an NFL QB, wouldn't he want to truly display that for a future employer? Seems like NT Mike Pennel has signed a one year deal. Given that Goldman was a no show, this is probably insurance and depth. In our last 4 games dating back to last year we are undefeated, 4-0. Are we getting spoiled? No turnovers for the Bears against Dallas was the key to victory.

I expect Poles to do some minor restructuring to give him some additional flexibility in his first year as GM. There are several contracts that he can modify without putting too much money into future years. There are some big ones, but I think only one or two will be considered. Mack, Quinn, Whitehair, and Edwards can all safely be restructured to gain around $10M to this year's cap without putting more than $4-5M on any future cap year, if they need to. I haven’t liked an uncertain player a ton in quite some time. I remember being in love with Randy Moss and being told he was way too big of a risk. Well, I loved Skattebo also, and many were uncertain about him. Too slow. Bad competition. Won’t translate to the NFL. Even though he appears to be fast-tracking towards CTE, he could have been the guy the Bears picked to fill an obvious need. i wonder if the Bears front office even considered drafting him? Has anyone seen reports suggesting one way or another?

Good move, surprised he signed it with all the stuff going on and with the team's record. I am sure it is a nice raise.

All this information, I have come up with a new plan. Instead of the big score, lets add several smaller contracts. Jeremy Mincey/DE/6-3 270-57 tackles-8 sacks-1 intec-2 knockdowns-4 FF and he is only 26. Tracy Porter/CB- with all the contracts NOs has to worry about, he could be gotten for a song and a definite upgrade for us. Laurent Robinson- at 26 could be turning into a #1 with 11 TDs in 54 recp. Eddie Royal- a cheap addition that could score big with Cutler. Jason Jones/DT-Tenn has some cap issues-last year as a DE he stuggled, but put him back at DT. When you look at what we have done so far to the team....we have basically just filled the holes we had last year that lead to our 8-8 record. Backup QB, RB the positions that went down last year that hurt the most (we got better at the two spots), we signed two CB to fill in for Bowman and Graham (i think we got better there too)we got Weems and Thomas to fill in for Hurd and maybe Knox. We got the Beast (Marshall) to take the place of R.Williams. Now we lost two DT and a saftey. So reason will have us taking those postions in the draft. So 2022 is where the team is in a much better cap situation. They can save $12.9M by cutting Quinn as a post-June 1 cut and $7M on Foles next offseason. So $20M off the books is a nice chunk of change without losing any performance. Mack is also an easy candidate for a restructure at $30M. Graham comes off the books, so the only guys with a cap hit north of $10M would be Mack, Jackson, Whitehair, and Goldman. Even before the Quinn and Foles moves, the team would have around $40M to play with, so $60M is more than enough money to resign current guys and bring in a couple of impact FAs.
