  1. Ya I havent approved any either but its fairly obvious which ones are spammers.
  2. You might as well tell the other team what youre doing when he is on the field as a RB then. They know its either gonna be a run to the outside or a a short pass because Hester wouldnt be able to run up the middle or block. Hes just a good return man and a salvageable 4th wr. Trying to turn him into anything else will probably hurt his return game like it did right when he moved to wr.
  3. Combining two different peoples points doesnt prove anything. Briggs has no legs to stand on to hold out. He can whine all he wants but he knows he has no leverage. Tell him to get closer to the end of his deal and if he deserves it they will restructure. I also disagree they need a miraculous offseason to contend. IMO the minimum they could do and be good enough to contend is resign/franchise Forte, sign a number 1 WR, address LT and then add a starter in the secondary (either corner or safety) and defensive line (either tackle or end). To me this is the bare minimum they could do and contend.
  4. Theyre different people. This reminds me of when people though Garrett Wolfe should have been good because his size was similar to Sproles. Hester has struggled with corner and wr, he is a great return man, thats it.
  5. The Bears defense would be crippled if they lost Briggs. He still played last season despite his crying about his contract and his teammates love him. Its not that much different then Vjax situation in SD yet everyone seems to want him. The NFL is a business so those situations are gonna happen. The goal is fielding the best team, not making a team people can feel warm and fuzzy about.
  6. It blows my mind so many people want to trade Briggs. He like a 7 time pro bowler we have under contract for a few more years that we couldnt even get anything of value for a few years ago. Why trade him for a 2nd day draft pick? What kind of sense does that make?
  7. Ya I almost think we should go back to having to manually approve new members
  8. Ok Balta, I banned 2 last night but didnt ban their ip addresses but Ill do that from now on.
  9. Im just glad to hear they are looking at people before they just hired Ruskell.
  10. Ive seen enough in 7 years of Drake. If he wasnt happy with the personnel he should have lobbied for upgrades. If your WR coach cant coach up your WRs then why does he have that position. I disagree with the point that its because weve never had any WR talent here in the sense that WRs dont need to be pro bowlers to improve. A bad WR can become an average WR and so on. If he was a good coach some of these guys would have least showed signs of improvement, instead they seem to be regressing.
  11. I was gonna chime in and say I completely agreed with you in the NFL thread on Soxtalk but I dont even want to get into it with some of the people who post in that thread. Its like talking to a wall.
  12. I didnt know much about Tice's playing career but its good to hear he played QB in college and TE in the NFL.
  13. I agree we havent done much of anything to bring in WR talent but at the same time the players who we have had have made little to no progress with Drake as the coach. Even bad or average players can improve if theyre coached up to some degree. Im not saying he should have turned Hester into a pro bowl wr or we should have expected 100 catches from Knox but it would have been nice to see them make at least the slightest improvement in some aspects of playing WR in the NFL.
  14. So do you think Drake has done an acceptable job as the WR coach since 2004?
  15. If we knew for sure we could get one of those two guys then I wouldnt make the deal either. However Id be surprised if Bowe were on the market and Vjax will be the top wr on most teams lists. I completely disagree with anyone who says theyd rather use that first rounder on a WR instead of trading it for Marshall. Thats actually insane to me how anyone would want that. If we were in range to get Blackmon thats one thing, but there may be 2-3 wrs off the board when we pick, Ill take Marshall all day. (The last part isnt directed to you madlith)
  16. Thats a tough question to answer. Theres always the chance that we had some talent here at some point that was never developed correctly but we will never really know. But from what weve seen from what weve had has been really bad. Terrible route running, not finishing routes and zero ability to go for any type of jump balls. Id like to be able to point to Brandon Lloyds recent success since he left the Bears but I think his issues here were due to injury. Either way, at some point somebody has to be held responsible for a trainwreck like this and Drake is the easiest target.
  17. I know theres been numerous times hes been brought up in the past but I seriously have to question how this guy has kept his job since 2004. The state of our WR corps under his tenure has been easily the worst in the NFL. We havent been able to develop a single WR that weve drafted and the few weve signed have done absolutely nothing here. How can a WR coach watch the product weve had on the field the past few years and not be able to do anything to improve it and still have a job? The closest thing weve had to a legit WR is Earl Bennett and thats 100% due to his familiarity with Jay because as we saw when Cutler doesnt play Bennett basically becomes a ghost.
  18. I think its beyond ridiculous if they hire ruskell but Id still be willing to give anyone mildly qualified a shot before I would have wanted to keep JA.
  19. It appears Im alone on this but I still say Id give up our first for him. Granted I dont think thats what it would cost to get him, but even if it was I dont think its a bad deal. Between our pick at 19, Briggs and Marshall there are 2 proven commodities and 1 unknown and Id rather have the 2 guys who you know what youll get from. We also dont know which of these potential FA wrs will even be on the market or how many other teams will be pursuing them.
  20. We better do better then Wayne and Royal at WR. Wayne should be if we strike out on Vjax, Bowe, Stevie or Coltson (depending on which are available) and if we did have to settle on him wed need to sign another WR better then Royal.
  21. Ya I would do either trade, I would just prefer to keep Briggs over the pick. However, that may be me still having nightmares about JA in my head so my opinion might change depending who our gm is.
  22. Id much rather give them the 19th pick then Briggs
  23. There are a lot of 2nd/3rd wr options for FA, so assuming they get one of the capable number 1s then they can either draft another early or sign 2 fa wr's. They need 2 WRs without question.
