Carimi is a big question mark. However, i think he will get a shot at one last redemption. If he turns into an OK RT or OK G, then it'll be OK. If not, then he becomes another warm body for a year. Scott will be another warm body. He should have a shot to compete. But if we draft high or get a stud FA, he'll have to beat them or someone else out. I think the more warm bodies we get for the line, the better...
-
Works for me... I'd like to see more warm bodies in addition, but not necessarily marquee.
-
I suspect the same w/ the limited info we all have...
-
I see Garza and Louis being there for sure. I see Carimi getting a legit chance to start. With that said, I fully expect 1 T & 1 G in the draft or FA...with a possibility for more or a C instead of G with a move of Garza back to G. Who the new guys will be...I haven't a clue...

I'm getting that vibe from the talking heads as well. Carmicheal appears not to be a commanding presence to some... I kind of think it's McCoy. Probably has been the whole time. We're just waiting theplayoffs out. Could it be so? Dr. McCoy? Dammit Jim! I'm a HC, not an OC!

Chicago had no interest to my knowledge. No SD. Only AZ I thought had interest in Reid.

I can't get the icky feeling out that he's a Packer... Clements too...but that really won't bother me. That much. But, besides that, he's been away from coaching a long time. Like Cowher, like Gruden. Other than Vermeil...I can't think of a successful one who did. Also, to my knowledge, no coach who won a SB has ever one one for a different team. Law of averages says it should happen...but for some reason it doesn't. It probably means the fire isn't quite wast it was before getting your first...or string of them. It's happened in other pro sprts (Phil Jackson, etc.)...but not in the NLF to my knowledge. All in all, I wouldn't be mad at a Holmgren (or Cowher, or Gruden...) hiring. It just feels like those were so "4 years ago"... I'm banking that Emery will make the right call. I have the feeling the man is smart, does his homework, cares, and is a class act. We're due a little luck...hopefully, we can get him some of that and make the perfect choice.

Ignore his posts...

Until we get another SB, we haven't got what we wanted... This move hopefully gets us there faster than waiting on the same old song & dance we've seen before. Not sure anyone has said we're SB bound next season, even if Billicheck came to our team. I think everyone expects reasonable growing pains.
-
I think you pretty much nailed it... I don't beleive for a minute, anyone thinks that it'll be plug n play and easy street to the SB next season.
-
I can't see the team making a move for either of those 2. Of the old guard, I only see Gruden as a possibility. Otherwise, I'd expect someone newer... Just a feeling from following the team for decades...
-
I have no idea what's in store for Url. What he wants or what the team wants... I really would love him to stick around w/o handcuffing the team financially. But, I'm prepared to go on regardless. Lewis is a sure fire HOF'er. He played w/ and intensity rivalled by few. He played like Lambert, Buktus, Singletary... I will miss seeing his highlights. The biggest compliment I can give him is that he played like a Bear.
-
I'm in agreement w/ you guys on this as well... Join in or gloss over...no need to banish.
-
I think that's it. Emery doesnt want to really show his hand. Based on that, I'd think we may be a lock to be a 3-4 D... Put the hunting dogs on a different scent...

Good heavens! Just eliminating Drake could be a huge boon on its own!

Absolutely. He'll get work. His resume is good. And regardless what he does elsewhere, his time was up here... Sometimes it justs needs to end. -

You analysis sounds pretty solid as a broad brushstroke. -

Agreed. Nope. Just saying, if you're looking for a fight, you will probably find one... If you are looking for like-minded posts to yours, you'll probably not find many. That's all I was saying. I've always made it 100% clear that I'm an advocate of free speech. You can tell anyone or me to F off...which you've pretty much done. It's your perrogative. I don't begrudge your stance, I know where you are coming whether I agree or not. I'm enjoying the moment for what could be. I know what was... We have simply switched glasses. My glass is now is half full (if not more), yours apepars now to be half empty. We all have the same goal...a championship back in Chicago. -
Any insight on the guy? I'm cluelss on college ball. (Among other things...)

So true. That could be the biggest tell tell sign of true change. -

Thanks. I agree. This is really a marquee job in so many ways. If Emery is worth his weight, he'll make the transition from old to young as seemless as possible. He needs to strike gold in the draft. Now, his hands won't be cuffed by the previous scouting regime or coaching staff. But, he will be judged by his success and failure at this point on. This is a long term project, but can reap success early if done right. Emery appears to be a smart football man. I eagerly await what he does! -
I'll always love Hester... I hope he does retire is his heart isn't into it. He'll go out as the best return man ever in my eyes...
-
He's just a loyalist... And a not very good analyst. Jim Miller is light years better. And that's not saying much...

I've bid the man thanks, and am ready to move on. I love the Bears, not an individual HC that couldn't get the job done. In the pantheon of Bears coaches, he's below Papa Bear and Ditka. They brought us championships, Smith brought us D and wins. But not the big wins. I hope the new guy exceeds Papa and Ditka... I don't believe there's a soul on here that isn't aware of the idea we will be in some form of re-build. It was going to happen with or without Smith anyway. If you are looking for a glowing review of his tenure in Chicago and time to grieve, you may not want to read posts today! I respect your steadfast loyalty to Smith Alsaka. But today may not be the day to call everyone out that simply disagrees with you on that. I want what's best for the Bears. It appears Phil Emery and George McCaskey are in agreement with a vast majority of fans. I want championships. Not almosts... We may not get as good of a HC in our next one. But we may also get a hall of famer. Successful people and businesses, in order to have return, must take risk. I embrace it. Bear down Chicago Bears. Make every play lead the way to victory... The first play has been made. Bear down. -

Look at us! Acting like a real football franchise! I'm as giddy as a 6 year old on Christmas morning! But for me real age bracket (42), I've already enjoyed a glass of Lagavulin single malt to celebrate the new year!
