I have a bad feeling this will be the theme of the year...
-
No real argument here. Cutler played pretty poorly. His WR's didn't do anything amazing and had a few drops. Webb was a turnstile yet again. It's truly amazing the pass that guy gets. But, if this is what we're going to get out of Jay, we're in trouble. Have we ruined yet another QB?
-
He looked bad. Are the wheels truly starting to come off? If we played a half decent team, we'd have lost today.
-
It'll all depend on what he does or doesn't do this year...

Once again, I see we agree on something!

You must have a twisted sense of humor like myself!

(Alaska, I love debating these topics with you!) That I do. I am still giving him this season to make it happen, but so far, I'm concerned. I know you like you some Smith, and I respect that. He does have his good elements for sure. But, there are many that feel the bad elements could prevent us from getting the trophy. But, I digress as I want to give Smith a chance to right the ship this season. Cutler is paid to do his job. Part of that is dealing with pressure that comes with the job. He did a poor job of it last Thursday. I'm not sure there's a soul on here that doesn't feel that way. However, there's more to it than just that. Please keep in mind, as Mark Twain said, there's lies, damn lies, and statistics. Let's take a stab at hurries, knockdowns pressure, etc. I don't have time to do the research, but I venture to say Jay may lead with all of the above. And for years, Rapelesberger and Erin Rodgers had much better targets to throw to when under duress. This is the first game Jay had under such pressure with some weapons. He seemed not to use them wisely. However, as mentioned in other points...how much did his coaches and their scheme do him in? And really what do those stats tell us? That the Mannings, Brees and Brady are winners and don't get sacked often? That Rodgers and Raplesburger get sacked a lot and are still winners? Or that being under less duress is simply better than being under duress regardless? There are better and worse QB's both ahead and behind of Cutler. I'm not really sure what conclusion you can really reach. The easiest is wins and big wins. So far Jay don't have that. Like Eli, until he does...he'll be questioned. Everyone involved in the team is responsible for the loss and how we lost it. (Excluding the defensive players). Jay, the OL, the WR's. the TE's. the RB's, the coaches, the GM, and to a degree the owners. It's a group fail. I'm not sure you understand the point of my posts. I'm irritated with Jay and his poor play. But I make note that he is not being helped and in fact, could be hindered. The question was not who is to blame, but who really is failing Jay? Jay is also failing Jay until he can start winning tougher games under duress...but his players and staff are doing him almost no favors.
-
Agreed on that as well...he deserves a scolding as well. But only for his play...

Maybe the real question isn't that Jay yelled...but who should he have yelled at? Webb is a talentless hack. Shouldn't Tice have 1. known that going in 2. if he didn't see it going in, shouldn't he have adjusted for it? I get yelling at Webb. As I've mentioned in other posts, the guy seems to check out mentally. H'es like the kid playing soccer picking at the lawn instead of paying attention to the game. And for some mental lapses, he does deserve to get get called out. But he's such a Baby Huey that isn't that really Tice's failure? Between the horrific game planning (no 1st down runs, no short passes, no screens, no helping Webb) and no adjustments...Tice utterly failed Cutler and the team. I think Tice actually deserves more blame than Webb. Yelling at Webb for sucking is kind of like yelling at Corky form "Life Goes On" for not understanding nuclear physics. Maybe Tice has the same problem... Maybe that pencil got lodged into his brain. And take it up one more notch. Smith is responsible for not doing anything as usual. he just lets the game plan unfold for a given game regardless of what is actually happening. he'll make the adjustment this week, but heaven forbid he actually do something during a game! He is the MF'in head coach. When you see your OC failing miserably...step the F in and demand a change! What the F are you paid for!? I fully expect a turnaround this week. My fear is the following week... In a nutshell, I don't blame Jay for yelling at Webb...But I think Tice and Smith truly deserved more of his ire. Maybe even Emery for not doing anything about the position. But, I don't have enough history on Emery yet to lump him in with the idiot coaches. I'll also give Tice a chance to prove himself. Smith's not going to change no matter what.

DJ Moore throwing Cutler under the bus...
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Agreed. I watched a Comcast Live with the usual talking haeds and one of the non-regular guys asked "Who is DJ Moore?" "Did Urlacher say anything? How about Peanut Tillman? Peppers? Unless those guys say anything, I can't really take those comments with any seriousness." Then Kaplan and Teddy G were in an uproar. The guy said, look, unless those guys put their name to it, this guy's comments are meaningless. 1. Agreed. Also, it appeared Baby Huey wasn't paying attention or listening to Jay. Jay bumped him, as to say, "Hey! I'm talking to you man!" Not squaring off like he's ready to fight. Every single so-called expert seemed to think Jay was challenging him in the octagon. Watch what happened. Every stupid talking head hasn't a clue. I think anyone else could have bumped Webb and no one would have said anything. But with Jay, anything to make him look bad is what the media wants. So Jay needs to be aware that h'es going to paraded out if he does stuff like that. So he shouldn't have. Jay's a tough guy. He's a professional football player, not a Supreme Court lawyer. Guys like Ryan Leaf can't hack negative press. Jay could honestly care less. In fact, he may actually enjoy it. Have we thought about that? 2. Yup. I get that he's a talentless hack, but he appears to check out of games. That's mental. That's why you ride him. 3. Agreed. The guy can't win for losing. He deserves some blame, but not the petty grief he's getting. He deserves flak for bad form, some bad decisions, and some bad throws. Not for showing emotion. 4. So true! Cutler's too tough to be a Carr. Cutty has got serious constitution. -
Looks like I'm the only one with an odd sense of humor...

I can't help but laugh when I read the statement on top of the site: "This site is dedicated to the most apathetic looking athlete in the history of sports."

No, this game is in Chicago. It could be a loss if the Rams are better than expected and we pull the same BS on O. Then a loss in DAL... But I think the panic button only gets hit if it's a complete failure and a loss to the Jags before the bye.

Haters keep hating... Jay should get nice Christmas gifts from the media. He's keeping them all employed.
-
Thanks for sharing. Could we ask for any more? Glad he seeing the love in the city...that comment makes me feel good.
-
Agreed. Although I'm sure they aren't sitting Webb due to the publicity. Wait until after the Dallas game and their D has their way with him. Then we'll see Williams back.

DJ Moore throwing Cutler under the bus...
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Sorry, did you mean gives a $hit or is $hit? Jay even said himself, he cares too much... Isn't a true test of a man one that goes through adverse conditions (ie. the world hating him) than sunny conditions (the world loving him)? Give me Jay any day over Tebow please... -
DJ Moore throwing Cutler under the bus...
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
I am dead serious. A move to Campbell (barring injury, change of pace, or in blowouts) means the front office has no clue how to run a franchise. So Cutler isn't upstanding because he donates time and money to charities? Let Campbell get pummeled as often as Cutler has over the past few seasons and see how composed he is... Hey, I get that I think Cutler went a bit overboard and I'd love him to take more personal responsibility. And all that's well and good. However, I just want to see results on the field. Talk is cheap. Peyton Manning fared about as well as Cutler last night w/o the constant harassment, and no one is giving him any flak. I'm sure Cutler is an a$$hole in real life. I've heard as much from people who have run into him in Chicago. I don't care. I want him to be a great performer on the field and I don't want him being a criminal. Guys have done far worse than what Cutler did with full forgiveness from the media and peers. I'm sickened by the amount of piss & vinegar spewed over this. This is one more reason why I can't watch pre game shows... I'm a fan for now as well. I don't see any possible replacement being better. He just needs to continue to grow. If he does, we can go all the way in the future, near or shortly. If not, we'll probably sniff playoffs and get bounced. But until we get him an OL, I'm pretty much giving him a pass. I'd also prefer better coaching and scheming for that matter... I look at the incident as him yelling at a teammate who had basically concussed him (See NY, NO). And he almost did it again. And when Cutler felt he wasn't listening, he gave him a nudge. He didn't square off or shove him violently. It was a nudge. "Hey buddy, listen, I'm talking to you!". That kind of nudge. The BS Ogunleye and other guys are saying are completely off base. As after most bad losses and a long week, the Bears usually win. I expect the same this week. Winning will cure some ills. The true test will be Dallas where I still expect a loss. I just hope we have a better game plan and better execution. Cutler can win some critics if he does well under duress even with a loss. Hey, I get it. Cutler gets what he gets. If he wasn't so polarizing, he'd get a pass from everyone. But he is polarizing. If he were more savvy, he'd account for that and try to do a better job cleaning up his PR a bit. But if not, so be it. I just care he cleans up his game on game days. I am the Mad Lithuanian and I support Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears (even including our dumb coaching staff and DJ Moore's lack of filter...). Bear down. -
DJ Moore throwing Cutler under the bus...
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Why say it? Especially when later in his quotes he says not to air our your stuff publicly... Campbell is not Cutler. Not even close. If the team moves to Campbell, then we know they have no desire to win. I only want to see Campbell is Jay is hurt or the game is out of hand. (I'd have benched Jay and put Campbell in in the 4th last game personally... No controversy. just that Jay's been taking a beating and sometimes you need to change things up.) -

Not the one we we're hoping for...but I'll take it. One down, one to go...
