  1. Minnesota needs to get a QB to develop because quite frankly, they are in worse shape at QB than we are. Minnesota selects: André Woodson QB Kentucky Next up: 17 (48) Atlanta Falcons (From Texans) - Ashkum Bear
  2. I love to hear this type of story. I think it is important for players on professional teams in all sports to give back to the communities they are involved in and this is one example of a great move by several Bear's players
  3. Nope, very easy. Just click on the link. Type in your username on the first line, you will not see it unless you highlight it, not sure why, tried to log back into bravenet and forgot my password/username combo, cannot retrieve same as my old email address when I signed up for this is no longer existing. You do not have to enter profile. Just enter the Chat Room by clicking Chat Button. You will see who is present on the right side. In the main panel you will see all that is being said after you log in. At the bottom is where you type your messages to enter into the chat. Once you get started, you will see how easy it is. You will have a few options, just follow the instructions provided.
  4. If I am not tied up with followup work by my otologist visit on Friday, I will be in the BearsTalk Chat Forum just about the entire draft (a few breaks here and there). I hope to see as many of you as possible so we can bitch and complain about the draft, LOL. Should be fun, especially if we can get enough posters to chime in.

  6. Detroit selects Chris Johnson RB East Carolina Next up: 15 (46) Cincinnati Bengals - Fenom283
  7. No reason to apologize. We have been slow getting a chat room up here. Not your fault.
  8. I posted this in the pinned thread. I sent emails to an admin about this but no response so I will post link here: Bearstalk.com Chat Room Still works, we need not to go running to another forum to use their chat room when we already have our own. For some reason it just has not been linked on this site. Maybe my email system is malfunctioning? Maybe a spam filter is snagging my communications? I do not know, but it is frustrating.
  9. You know, there is a simple solution to this problem of a chat room for this site. I had a chat room set up, hosted not by sportsinfinity.com, but by bravenet. It was not a bad setup. It still works. It is free. It is ours to use. Nothing needs to be setup. Nothing needs to be uploaded, downloaded, modified, edited. All we need is to use it. Pretty simple huh? BEARSTALK CHAT ROOM Why is it necessary to go to another forum to use their chat room when we already have one, all we need to do is get the dang link on this site so we can use it!! Anyone know how to add this link to the top of the page??? I hate to see us rely on another forum to use their chat room when we already have one to use.
  10. So, while we wait for Hester to select the Bear's 2nd rd selection, any guesses as to how the Bears will go? Will the Bears go WR, OL, RB, QB, S, DT, ????? About this time next week we will know all the picks for the Bears 2008 Draft. My guess is most of the posters are going to be pissed saying Angelo blew the draft because he did not select the players they wanted. Happens EVERY YEAR. Should be interesting for sure.
  11. As much as I would like to commit to a meeting with you to watch the draft, I am a bit reluctant as I have a doctors visit this Friday, the day before the draft, which MIGHT, not certain, require followup tests and or treatment over the weekend. I have lost (guessing here) 90% of my hearing in my right ear and my regular physician believes there is something behind the ear drum causing the problem, exactly what we are not sure. I have to see a specialist Friday and see where the tests performed lead. I would most certainly be interest in getting together with others for some games, be it preseason, season, or hopefully post season contests with the Bears!!
  12. Under the banner at the top of the page click on my controls. Click on edit signature on left side of page. Just above the box where you enter you signature you will see buttons for various functions, just like when you post. When you hold your cursor over each button it tells you what that option will do. Directly to the right of the insert link button is the button for insert image. Click on it. You will have a box pop up near the top of your screen. Paste the link for your image into this box. Save your signature. That should do it for you. If you have further trouble just let me know and I will address whatever problems you are having at that time. Sure hope this helps, I am anxious to see your new sig,
  13. Thanks Mad Man GB needs a backup to Rodgers, but they will not put pressure on him by drafting a QB in the 1st rd GB has 2 aging starters at CB and need some youth, but I am not thrilled with what is left GB needs a TE to stretch the field, but none left are worth a 1st rd selection GB has two aging OTs who have had injury problems and a QB that has already proven to be fragil. Therefore, GBP selects Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt - a great value at pick #30 Next up - 31 New York Giants - NeoBear
  14. Yes, I like Delvin Thomas also. The only question mark I see with Kelly is his speed. I am not one to take a lot of stock in times ran in shorts and sprinter shoes. I think he has enough speed to go along with his atheticism to make an immediate contribution to Tampa Bay's offense. However, he could also turn out to be another Mike Williams. (I think the kid has a good work ethic and attitude so I do not envision this.)
  15. Tampa Bay as I see them: CB – lost Kelly, lots of age and no depth, a definite need WR – Galloway is 37, Clayton & Hilliard have not been able to give them the big plays, Bryant signed but may not be the answer they need. QB – Garcia had an excellent season, but how much longer can he play or stay healthy? DL – They really have no one to put pressure on the QB OL – Like many teams, the OL needs upgrading LB – Another aging group – it is time to start thinking about bringing in some fresh blood. Depending which website you visit, an argument could be made for any of the 6 position needs listed. The 3 that shows up on just about every team needs list are CB, WR, & DL. Of those 3 positions, and knowing Gruden, I suspect WR will be the selection as CB & DL have been picked over more than WR. So which WR? Sweed, Kelly, Jackson, ???? Again opinions very greatly from site to site. I know Sweed & Jackson are rated higher than Kelly by NFL Countdown but other sites actually have Kelly rated the #1 WR. I think Kelly is more polished and NFL ready than any other WR available, great size, hands, good route runner, good blocker, Tampa Bay selects Malcom Kelly, WR, Oklahoma Balta & the Washington Redskins are on the clock.........
  16. Just got an email from him - said he was away for a couple of days, will be here soon to make his pick.
  17. My My, I must be getting old, how could I have forgotten about the babes?
  18. Hi Grouchy Bear, it sure is great to see you return. I understand your frustration. I think we all share that with you. Many of the old guard have migrated over, some missing, but this time of year many of us took a break from the action until it got closer to preseason. Hopefully, by the time the 1st game in August kicks off, many more will join us. Again, welcome back, all of us hdere from BearsTalk missed your posts.
  19. I have to go into work this morning for a few hours to finish up the work on my Team that I supervise. Had to take some time off do to some health problems and that is why I was around for the past couple of days (decided to audition for the Summer Olympics gymnastics team, did some somersaults and cartwheels down a slope in my back yard only to have my progress stopped by a large immovable object just as I was picking up some good speed, LOL). Anyway, if Tampa Bay goes on the clock before I finish, just thought I would let you all know that I hope to be back by noon and will make my selection at that time. Hopefully by disclosing this the teams following Tampa will be advised that they will be on the clock at about that time.
  20. I agree with you Parker, a second day QB selection would be fine with me, especially Dixon or Johnson.
  21. Minnesota has many needs. DE - OL Depth - DT depth - QB to develop behind Jackson (current backup is Bollinger) - TE that can be a downfield threat for Jackson. After reading around the internet and checking out various mock drafts, it seems most feel Defensive end is the number one need for the Vikings. One site stated it this way: All three mocks I saw (NFL Draftcountdown, Footballsfuture, Draft Tek Simulation) had Minny selecting a DE in the first round, 2 having them select D Harvey & 1 P Merling. Some sites have Merling the #3 DE in the draft and Harvey #4. Some reverse the order. My understanding is many are thinking Merling may slip down the boards because he has had injury problems and this has kept him from working out for the scouts. Therefore I will select for the Minnesota Vikings with the 17th selection of the 2008 draft: Derrick Harvey DE Florida Next up: 18 Houston Texans - DabearsDabomb
  22. Who would of thought we would ever see a Delaware Blue Hen QB rated #1 in the draft? I also would have liked to have seen him in a Bears Uniform but as you said it is a bit unlikely now.
  23. I also would like to see a trade down in that situation however, sometimes you just can't find a trading partner.
  24. Detroit has many needs from what I have read. Their OL sucks as bad as ours. Their yds per carry by RBs was the 2nd worst in the NFL last year. They have suffered with CB coverage ever since trading away Dre' Bly They have no effective pass rush and need a DE They have an OLB playing out of position at MLB and need a true Tampa 2 type of Mike They need a RB bad, having released Kevin Jones. If either of the top 3 RB prospects were still available I would definitely have selected one here. Unfortunately for the Lions none made it to their slot in the draft and none of the other backs would be a smart selection at 15. OL is deep and can be found in later rounds. DE & ILB are interesting prospects here but IMO the best value here is at CB. Very seldom do you get a chance to select a CB in the draft that is capable of starting as a rookie and make an impact. I feel that in this case, Detroit would be foolish to pass on a chance to resolve this area of need. Therefore with the 15th selection of the draft, Detroit selects: Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tennessee St. 16 Arizona Cardinals - ParkerBear7 - you are on the clock......
