Some contract Details
A high risk / high reward contract. IF he continues to make the same impact on special teams as he has over the first 2 years AND becomes an effective #2 or #3 WR, it is worth the money. IF he becomes an elite #1 WR, even if his impact on special teams slides, it is worth the money. IF he becomes an elite #1 WR AND continues to impact the game on STs as he has, it is a bargain! Any other scenario I can think of he wins big time and the Bears were suckers and overpaid him. I pray one of the first 3 scenarios take place!

Why a new TalkBears Fantasy Forum?
Many of us love Fantasy Football Leagues and Pick'em Contests. I created this forum for many things: Announcement of when the weekly picksheet has been posted and ready to use Announcement of winners from the weeks Pick'ems after the games are complete Discussion of rules for the Pick'ems & TalkBears Fantasy Football Leagues. Do you have questions about existing rules? Do you want to see changes made in the scoring system of the Fantasy Football Leagues, etc... This is where to post them... Want others from the forum who play Fantasy Football to give you their opinion on a draft you just finished? Have lineup changes you need to make and need to get ideas from others? Want to try and get a trade and want to try and get things started or need advise about a trade proposed? Want to do a bit of trash talking? You name it, if it is about Fantasy Football Leagues or Pick'ems, this is where it belongs. Basically this sub forum is designed for all of us who love this area of Football to gather and talk without mixing the threads into the Bearstalk forum discussions. It will make it easier for us to talk Fantasy Football and make it easier for those who do not like Fantasy Football to talk Football and not have to sort through Fantasy Threads. The season is about to begin, man I am anxious for the first FFL Live Draft!

Hester Signs!!!!!!!
How much do you want to bet: Josh Cribbs just creamed his pants thinking about trying to get a new contract like Hester's The Browns' Front Office is checking the phone's Caller ID so they do not answer it if it is Cribbs agent There wasn't a measuring stick for this type of contract before, now JA has set the bar at a very high level

What's Your Biggest Worry?
I was hoping the same thing, now that we have finished extending 9 veteran contracts, signed 11 draft selections, several undrafted rookies, Booker & LLoyd, we should finally get around to some unfinished business on the OL. We need to bring in at least one serviceable veteran, if not 2, to solidify the OL and provide us some options in case of injury. Our depth on the OL worries me as much as the question marks we have as starters. I honestly believe Angelo will address this issue within the next two week.

Hester Signs!!!!!!!
Excellent news, now we can relax until 2010 when he sits out of camp wanting to renegotiate this contract, LOL.

"Butterfingers" Payton?...
I agree, just playing devils advocate and trying to rouse up some ire, LOL. Payton, like I said in the original post, was the greatest RB in NFL History. He averaged 1 fumble in every 6.5 games, that is only 2 or 3 a year, and when you consider the number of touches he averaged per year in rushes and pass receptions that is actually an amazingly small number of fumbles.

Terry Glenn to be released
Yep, then his coach from the Pats wound up in Dallas and went out and signed "she" to play for the Cowboys. Kinda tells you that he respected "her" talents. LOL

Training Camp surprises
LOL, I have 9 grandkids, so I know where you are coming from. When 2 of the older ones were living with me I actually purchased a PC for them so that they would have no excuse to "invade" my turf,

Tillman Speaks and I wonder....
Did you see him in any blitz coverage drills? I am hoping he is as good in this area as he has been reported to be coming out of college. On one of the videos on the Bears site Orton was saying Forte looked great catching screen passes. NICE!
-
Tillman Speaks and I wonder....
One thing for sure, I just watched the highlight films of practice on the Bears home website, (if you have not watched these, please do, they are worth the time) Forte looked faaast..... This guy might just sell some tickets for the Bears before long!! I think we finally got the real deal at RB!

"Butterfingers" Payton?...
On the Bears website in the ChalkTalk with Larry Meyer it has this Q&A: I would have never thought that Payton fumbled the Ball 85 times in 13 seasons. In retrospect, that is only 6.5 fumbles a season.

Tillman Speaks and I wonder....
In an Article from the Chicago Sun-Times.com Tillman states that in the NFL offense sells tickets, but not our offense. Think that might tick off the Bears offense?

I agree With the injury problems we had last year, they are going to take every precaustion possible to prevent a repeat.

Hester has hurt Hammy
No conspiracy about it, the jerk is still holding out. When asked in an interview if he would practice without an extension he says no comment. He shows up and has a mysterious hammy problem. How much you want to bet the hammy does not get better until the extension is signed? He is still a hold out. He is just using the system, makes him look good and saves him some money.

Hester reports
Great News, now hopefully Williams will be back on the field today.

Bears' season on the line
This to me is a bigger concern, more important to the Bears success this year, than David Hester trying to strike it rich. I will be looking more at this and the development of the offense as a result than David "I am mad and I want my money now" Hester. Bears' season on the line

Just got back from training camp
Thanks for the update!! Always great to get info from fellow posters attending practice. No fluff. Just facts!

The official Hester Holdout thread
Has anyone considered this? We all kinda agree he has not proved he is a number 1 WR. He wants to be paid as a number 1 WR. He knows the Bears take care of their own. He knows they were in negotiations trying to get a contract completed. Yet, knowing he was going to line up with the number 1 offense in practice and have a chance to prove himself as a number one WR he decided to holdout. Now why would he do that? The only answer I can come up with is he did not want to take a chance and prove he WAS NOT a number 1 WR through his show in practice. If he was confident he was indeed a number 1 WR all he had to do was go out there and show his stuff, dazzle everyone with his skills as a number 1 WR. He then increases his value in negotiations and if the Bears do not pony up he then has leverage by holding out. Seems to me he wants to have the Bears pay but does not want to prove a thing, just pay me the money.

Williams Signed!
Hell no. I paid big time for her first marriage (to a Colts Fan) and they got divorced after 8 years, then she married the Packer fan, told her this one I would attent but not pay for, LOL.
-
SD WR Eric Parker....
Think there would be any interest? I am surprised he was released. Other than Chambers who they picked up in a trade last year, their WR corps is kind of thin.
-
The Saints Extend Colston...
I am sorry, he should not get paid as a #1 WR until he has proven he is one. We all applauded Angelo for not paying Berrian #1 WR money when he hadn't proven himself to be one and let Minny overpay him. Same goes here. Sure, break the bank and give him the biggest ST Return Man contract ever written, but not the BIG BUCKS that a #1 WR would get.
