  1. Add a 2025 first-rounder to that, and I would agree. Overpay by use of the chart, I didn't check, but probably yes. However, this year's #1 competition will reap an overpayment.
  2. What the hell did I just say that you did not understand?
  3. Why do you always think I'm mad at you? Because I disagree with you? Hell, I disagree with many forum posters. They don't accuse me of being mad at them simply because we disagree. We have healthy debates, respecting each other. I've seen you mention I am upset with you because of your argument with Stinger. No. I was disappointed with both of you for continuing to argue despite several moderators asking both of you to stop for the sake of the forum's health. I wasn't mad at either one of you, just frustrated. (You have no idea how many private messages I received asking me to put an end to your heated exchanges.) So no, I'm not mad at you and for you to continue to say I am is, as you always claim, silly.
  4. And you missed my point... A team would be crazy to gamble on Fields with solid veterans available, especially if they can obtain him w/o giving up draft picks. You seem to think anyone who has positive things to say about Fields thinks he is a generational/francise QB. Many of us who like Fields, and see some positive traits, realize we still need to draft a QB. I said it before, on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being the best, you see Fields as a 0, not even reaching 1. Whereas, many of us who see some positive traits in Fields, play, would probably rate him between 4 and 6. Not good enough to be a francise savior, but not garbage.
  5. Yes, we know you don't like Fields as a QB. Yes, we get it. Believe me, we all know!
  6. Did you see where Brian Burns was traded t NYG, signing for 150M / 5 years! It's really getting crazy stupid, 30M a year?
  7. It's really quite simple. Cousins, Mayfield, and Wilson were all free agents with no draft capital involved. All three established veterans. Mac Jones went cheap as a backup, low risk for late round pick.
  8. Well, Hondo Carpenter, I know when I owned my hobby store, if someone came into my store to purchase a collectible that I had priced at 1,000.00 and he offered me 500.00, I would politely reject the lowball. I've said repeatedly that I am tired of the Bears giving players away in trades while other teams get great returns. If Poles didn't get a proper bid, one that he felt was fair for the Bears, I applaud him for not accepting. I have no doubt that next year the FA market will not have as many quality options for QB needy teams. If he cannot get good value this year, keep him.
  9. And now we know why we didn't sign McKinney. Signed for 4 years / 68 Million 17M / yr vs 7.5M / yr
  10. That is a very expensive message! I hope the real estate market is better in Arlington Heights than Rockford. LOL
  11. Is this for real or is Warren sending a message to Arlington Heights that they had better renegotiate the tax assessment evaluation?

Yes, but I had no idea he was so young. Great that we signed him.

Look no further than our DBs currently on our roster: Blackwell - 24 Brisker - 24 Gordon - 24 Hicks - 24 J Johnson - 24 Q Johnson - 24 Jones - 26 Smith - 24 Stevenson - 23 Stroman - 28 That has to be the youngest group of DBs in the league We needed a vet with experience to help this group reach its potential Bringing in a 30-year-old former pro bowler was important
  14. I do not know of Russinni. First I've heard of her. If she is correct, Warren has far more influence than I had envisioned. So my question for you guys, who probably know far more than I about the front offices of teams, Is it normal for the President & CEO of a team to wield that much influence over decisions made by his GM?
  15. Are these the same analytics that had Zack Wilson drafted #2 and T Lance #3, or the one that had Young chosen over Stroud? The one that had Mahomes chosen #10 with Watson going #12? All I am saying is that NOTHING is a given, even with the advanced analytics. There are too many intangibles.
  16. Caleb might be the GOAT of the future. However, I remember other quarterbacks that GMs were drooling over, and they never made it in the NFL. QBs that received just as much praise as Williams prior to being drafted. The first two that come to mind are JaMarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf. Predraft, fans of their teams were already reserving seats for their HOF ceremonies. Will Caleb be another Russell or Leaf? I don't think so. You certainly don't. But one thing is for sure: success is not guaranteed when drafting any player, for any position, in any draft slot. That is as certain as the old adage about death and taxes.
  17. I would hope that is not the case. No GM can do his job properly with that type of limitation.
  18. Good Grief, I don't remember so many EVPs & SVPs hired. Have they announced an SVP in charge of the toilet paper acquisition? Warren is going to have a staff under him to rival the number of scouts under Poles or coaches under Flus.

OUCH, That is a lot of signings.
  20. Does he have anything left in the tank? I read he is on the downside of his career at age 30? Also, cut for salary cap reasons? What will he demand? With all of the safeties hitting FA, surely there must be a young stud on the rise.
  21. Absolutely. If you can't get value for JF now, roll the dice. Next year, before the trade deadline, a team will be desperate for a veteran quarterback to take over for their injured quarterback. That would be when we'd get the best return for JF.
  22. ... Apples to Oranges. Kyler signed a 5 year 230.5 Million Dollar contract. He is due 35.3 Million this year. You had better believe that the Cardinals can't afford to eat the remainder of this deal. He is their QB1, period.

The legal tampering period begins March 11 at 12 p.m. ET. Last year, it was then that we began to learn about some moves Poles was working on. I'm anxious to find out what he has in store for us this year. It will tell us a lot about what to expect when the draft comes about.
  24. My guess is that JJ and/or the new? QB will demand a new contract and threaten to hold out if it is not received by year 3 (assuming they are holding up their end of the bargain and performing at the Pro Bowl Level). Surprised and Happy JJ decided to buckle and sign a reasonable deal. Proves you aren't going to win in a 'stare down' contest with Poles. ? He wanted to be the top-paid CB because he declared himself the best. He got a damn good deal, and so did the Bears. Here are the current figures from OTC. I guess everyone on that list will leapfrog JJ on their next deal, causing JJ to want more money. NFL's highest-paid cornerbacks in 2024 (average salary per year): 1. Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander: $21 million 2. Browns cornerback Denzel Ward: $20.1 million 3. Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey: $20 million 4. Bears CB Jaylon Johnson: $19.8 million 4. Chiefs CB L'Jarius Sneed: $19.8 million 6. Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey: $19.5 million 7. Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore: $19.4 million 7. Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs: $19.4 million 9. Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White: $17.3 million 10. Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis: $14.8 million
  25. Let's drop it before we start fighting again. If need be, I can lock the threads or delete posts. I really do not want to do either. It has been a good thread. So again, please move on.
