OK, as I was typing it I added the question because it came to mind he was a 3-4 guy. Won't work. My Bad.

Vic Fangio just left Miami after one season, reason wasn't given on the report I just heard on Total Access. Now that is one hell of a DC to add to the Bears' staff! Come back to Chicago, Vic, we love ya'. (Damn, I can't remember, did he run a 3 or 4 man front?)

Like several have expressed, I was concerned this was not a "done deal." Especially since it appears other teams were interviewing him for OC (NOS for one). However, if the article I have given the link to below is correct, then my fear was unfounded. It appears, according to this article, Waldron is already interviewing to fill his staff positions, including three coaches who were with him in Seattle. Bears OC Shane Waldron already working on filling out his staff I love it. Talk about getting off the bus running, this immediately brings continuity to the OC & his staff. There was also mention of Greg Olsen but he may be in line for a OC position with another team. Time will tell.

Brushing up on my knowledge of our new OC Waldron, I was encouraged with these two quotes from an article on WindyCityGridiron.com:
-
You know, at first I thought it might be a "tell" that they were interested in more info on Caleb, but then I realized that every team looking to draft their next "franchise QB" will be asking Kingsbury his opinions (along with Caleb's HC, Teammates, relatives, friends, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the teams had a background check run on him. By the time they finish, they will not only know what brand of toilet paper he prefers, but which hand he uses to wipe his ass with. LOL)
-
Hell's Bells, I sure don't think I would ever want him as a HC, but as an OC, I like the idea. ?
-
The Bears must be very high on Kingsbury as I read the Bear's brass flew to the west coast to interview him. If they plan on drafting Williams, it would be a brilliant move to sign him as our OC.
-
So Greg said "some things will come out that doesn't look good." Since he also states Williams is the most talented QB in the draft, one can only assume the "some things" are related to character issues. He then adds that the Bears passed on Pickens and Carter because of character issues. Seems to me he is trying to tell us something without betraying any confidence.

Just heard on NFL Total Access that Pierce has been retained as the HC for the Raiders. So much hype about Harbough going there, but obvious not. Last year he did some interviews. Is just using the threat to encourage Michigan to up the ante? LOL

I was upset when I first learned of Cliff Stein leaving the Bears. I was even more alarmed that it was rumored that Warren was the one who showed him the door. I just read an interesting article describing in detail the rise and fall of Cliff Stein and now fully understand why he was dismissed. The article describes Stein's change in approach to contract negotiations that had become an issue with players and their agents. It also mentioned that he felt Phillips and Stein mishandled negotiations with Arlington Heights which has led to a stalemate in Warren's plans for a stadium there. Finally, it states Warren is concerned that there are "leaks" in the front office of the organization and future dismissals might be announced in the near future. An interesting article that goes much further in detail than what I just noted: Cliff Stein’s rise and fall and what led to his dismissal

I just read on NFL.com that Ron Rivera wants to return to the sidelines as a DC. I'd love to see him return to Chicago.

I'm tired of GMs, like Pace, trying to do a quick fix and rebuild thru free agency deals, most often overspending and putting us in cap hell. I like the fact that Poles is "attempting" to rebuild by using the draft with FA as a last recourse if a player can be obtained at reasonable cost.
-
It was certainly a good list but in my mind the Philadelphia collapse really tops the list for me. How a team, without major injuries depleting their roster, can go from being the top rated team in the league to win the super bowl to losing to Tampa Bay in the wild card round is beyond me. What the hell happened? I bet their fan base is asking the same thing.

I just saw this on NFL.com, I don't recall hearing this before, or reading it here.
-
My guess is Jones still believes in Dak but will fire his HC and sign Billy boy hoping he can bring the success he had in NE with him. IMO, Billy is fools gold.
-
I meant that you both agree with me about the issue, LOL I knew you guys got along with each other.
-
Thanks! I can see why you would like him to be drafted by Poles.
-
Happy to see Stinger and AZ agree, for I also see nothing wrong if Flus call plays instead of the new DC. (Although he has also stated he "might" give up the responsibility to the new DC). Not all unusual in today's NFL coaching structure.
-
I know nothing about this guy, Zak Zinter, but if he had a serious injury that may require him to miss the entire 2024 NFL season, wouldn't he be at best a late day 3 pick or an UDFA? Seriously, educate me, I know nothing about him.

Here is the article (the only one on the subject I have seen) about our DC position possibilities. This one centers on who could be hired to be DC to retain continuity to expand on the success our defense had last year. 5 Bears defensive coordinator candidates for maximum continuity They mentioned and gave reasons for their consideration the following: Jon Hoke, Bears' CB Coach & Pass Game Coordinator Dave Borgonzi, Bears' Linebackers Coach Andre Curtis, Bears' Safeties Coach Travis Smith, Bears' Defensive Lines Coach Phil Snow, Bears' Senior Defensive Analyst
-
I'd bet that our new DC is already in Chicago as a coach for the Bears. I saw one article where they listed 5 possible candidates, four were position coaches already working with Flus. Memory might fail me but I think Hoke was the first listed.
-
I agree. I read nothing about Olsen or Cohen to make me think they would be an upgrade.
-
The Bears have one of the best, if not THE best salary cap / contract negotiators in the NFL. He will find a way to keep us clean. Thank You Poles for bringing him back. Another brilliant move!
-
I hope that while interviewing for the Washington GM they blew it and let slip their draft interests and their thoughts on filling their need at QB. LOL

I came across this in a Google search: REPORT: Caleb Williams Shockingly Reveals NFL Team He Does Not Want To Play For
