Back in 2018 Whitehair must have done pretty good at Center since he earned a trip to the Pro Bowl. Then, of course, Bear's switched him back to guard????

There has to be a better option. I trust Poles to solve the issues in the trenches. From an article on Fansided" https://thelandryhat.com/2023/03/02/cowboys-lael-collins-contract-disaster-bengals-release-rumors-steele/

I'm sure it was a cheap signing for depth at LB and a good ST player. Still, good move. Roster Move: Bears sign LB Dylan Cole

I just read an article on chicagobears.com: Football, life a family affair for Tremaine Edmunds Usually, these articles do not interest me that much. Someone from the Bears' putting up fluff to engage fans during the off season. However, this article has made me a huge fan of Tremaine. Talk about a high character guy! I am going to be a huge fan of his and can't wait to see him take charge of our defense.

This is the quote from BearFan PHX that I was referring to. I'll leave it at that. Everyone will have different opinions. To be honest, if I'm Poles, I pray Carter is drafted before pick #9 OR a team drafting lower in the first wants to give up a lovely 2nd rounder to the Bears to move up and draft him. Problem solved. LOL
-
Well, I'm a bit confused. I thought it was posted on this forum, in one of the threads, that he fully cooperated with the police. Maybe the member who posted that information can bring it back to the front (I'm a bit lazy and don't want to search all of the posts that have been made over the past several weeks. LOL)

Before "the incident" that led to his friends death. Before his pro day. There was an interview with his HC from Georgia where he was asked about Carter's commitment to 'the game." Now, it could be just BS, wanting to help Carter. However, he stated that Carter on more than one occasion played with injuries that could have kept him on the sidelines in street clothes. He insists that Carter refused to excuse himself, saying he wanted to be on the field with his teammates. That the kid is committed to the game of football and anyone saying otherwise is wrong. So why did he show up for his pro day out of shape? I'm far more concerned about that than the street racing and unfortunate death of his friend. Where was his agent? If this kid is struggling and needs grief therapy, which I suspect is the case, get him some help! I want Poles to be thorough in his evaluation. It wouldn't hurt to have a therapist on hand to assist in the interview process. If he truly believes Carter is no more of a risk to fail than the Ryan Leaf, Cade McNown, Kevin White, or Curtin Enis sure fire selections, than I'm on board. Every pick is a risk. The year we took Enis at #5 Minnesota drafted Moss at #21. Enis was the sure fire pick, Moss was the one with the red flags. Assuming he is even there at #9.

Thanks for the link. Interesting article.

I agree. I think Edge, 3T, ORT, and CB are in need of serious upgrades. I would add OC as a concern of mine. The good thing is that those positions are the strength of the 2023 draft. Poles has said he prefers to build this team through the draft vs FA. This is his chance to shine.

Question for you draft savvy friends of mine. There has been some speculation on the forum we might trade down further in round 1 to pick up even more picks. I'm not sure I am in favor of this. I want a top OT. However, my question is, from your understanding of the trade charts & past history of such trades, if the Bears would trade back, lets say 6 to 10 slots, what type of compensation would you suspect they would receive?

Swift Sports Network just released a video that makes a convincing argument that a)Herbert is a superior RB to Monty & b) Poles has significantly improved our RB room with the addition of the two new RBs. Good statistical breakdown for anyone interested.

Poles will have a tough decision if Carter is there at #9. On one hand, you don't want to miss on your 1st round pick (the first time you have had one since taking over as GM) so you take a pass on a guy who is sliding down the boards. BUT, there is a possibility this guy is the next Aaron Donald. If so, it would be a brilliant selection. This pre-draft meeting with him is critical. I'm not worried about the street racing episode. He wasn't racing. He wasn't drunk. He cooperated with the police. If he wasn't a celeb FB player, it would have never even been in the news. The only thing I want to know is where his head is now? Why wasn't he better prepared for his pro day? Is he struggling because of the loss of his friend? The adverse publicity during the combine? The reports of him slipping down the draft boards? My guess? He has worked his ass off, played a brilliant career, and now sees everything he strived for falling apart. He needs help.

It appears everyone had Brown pegged correctly. Poles wanted him at RT, he wanted to be LT. Simple as that. We got outbid for McG by Denver, then this guy refused to accept our offer. Here is an interesting quote from Brown:
-
From what I've been reading, Brown underperformed last year, allowing a lot of QB pressures. KC fans are celebrating his departure. KC found it easy to part ways with him despite his rep as a Pro Bowl OT. I have mixed emotions about missing out on signing him. As bad as I want to solidify the OL before the draft, it appears we have to wait. Hopefully our 1st rd pick is our new starting ROT.
-
I agree with you. Some on the forum are celebrating his departure. Not me. I think it was a mistake to allow him to leave. Yes, maybe Herbert shines as RB1. Yes, maybe we draft a RB that becomes a Pro Bowler. But maybe that is too many maybes.
-
According to the guy running Swift Sports Network, Poles outbid Seattle for Dre'Mont Jones but he chose to go to Seattle instead for less money. Who knows why? Doesn't matter, but it shows Poles is still willing to sign another big deal if the situation is right. Here is what he accepted from Seattle. I wonder how much more we offered?

This year's draft is strong for OL & DL. Our 4 picks in the first 64 will, IMO, concentrate on our trenches.
-
Mistake. Sorry.
-
With Jenkins at RG, I assume G Davis plays LG, does that mean Whitehair is going to be released?
-
I'm watching NFL Network Live FA Coverage and nothing has been said about O Brown to Bears. Speculation he will be moved, but no solid news so far as to who would sign him. From what I have read, he underperformed in KC and they were not happy with him.

100%
-
Thanks for the info. I will be interested what type of money is involved if he is signed. His past injury issues are a red flag.
-
Seeing some of the hyped contracts for OTs, we might be best to use our #9 on a solid OT Rookie. I would love to get some veteran insurance but from what I have seen, they are being overpaid. Now maybe for O. Brown, I'd pay 20+ but he would be the only one worth it, IMO.

Anyone know how good/bad this guy is? I'm clueless, as usual. LOL
