  1. Found this draft interesting. A 7 round mock with the writer, Bears Insider Josh Shrock from NBC Sports, giving his take on what he would do if he were Poles. Love D Wright in a rd 1 trade down. Schrock's Bears Mock Draft 7.0: Can Poles check every box?
  2. I agree, Personally I like D Wright. However, there is a ton of talk about Poles drafting Peter Skoronski. Do any of you guys think he would be a right tackle option in the NFL or will his arm length limit him? He's supposed to be the ultimate technician. Would that enable him to be the exception to the rule when it comes to arm length for offensive tackles or is he destined to be an OG?
  3. Not sure if we are able to see the entire article w/o a paid subscription. Enjoyed the article but seemed to end abruptly. I was surprised ity didn't mention his pro day fiasco. I was also surprised when it said no one from Georgia endorses him. I heard his former HC from Georgia rave about him. Then, of course, one would expect the same. I once thought Carter would slip to us. I was uncertain about him, hoping a team would trade up to snatch him from us. LOL But after reviewing over a dozen mock drafts by the "experts" (cough) it appears half a dozen have Seattle, half a dozen have Detroit, drafting him. There was one with the Raiders drafting him, and only one of the bunch posted on NFL.com had him falling to the Bears. Thursday cannot come soon enough.
  4. Like Your Take on the Draft. Would love to get that top pick in 2nd round back from Pittsburgh.
  5. A YouTube Video had a list of visitations to the Bears, the 30 pre-draft visits plus locals. From what I read, Poles didn't draft any player he brought in for a pre-draft interview last year. So I'm not sure how valuable this list is in trying to predict his draft board. Jalen Carter DT Georgia Mazi Smith DT Michigan Adetomiwa Adebawore DT Northwestern Gervon Dexter Sr DT Florida Zacch Pickens DT South Carolina Tyree Wilson DE Texas Tech Nolan Smith DE Georgia Dylan Horton DE TCU KJ Henry DE Clemson Deslin Alexandre DL Pittsburgh ================================== Paris Johnson Jr OT Ohio State Wawand Jones OT Ohio State Broderick Jones OT Georgia Darnell Wright OT Tennessee Jaelyn Duncan OT Maryland Jordan McFadden OT Clemson Tyler Beach OL Wisconsin Ricky Stromberg C Arkansas =================================== Jaxson Smith-Njigba WR Ohio State Jonathan Mingo WR Ole Miss Dontayvion Wicks WR Virginia Jayden Reed WR Michigan State Rashee Rice WR SMU Xavier Hutchinson WR Iowa State Tyler Scott WR Cincinnati Tre Tucker WR Cincinnati ==================================== Payne Durham TE Purdue ==================================== Jahmyr Gibbs RB Alabama Zach Charbonnet RB UCLA ==================================== Devon Witherspoon CB Illinois Tyrique Stevenson CB Miami Deonte Banks CB Maryland ==================================== Brandon Joseph S Notre Dame ==================================== Marte Mapu LB Sacramento State
  6. I'd love to see a team drafting in round one lower than slot nine fall in love with Carter and offer us a trade to draft him (assuming he is still there at #9). Poles has shown enough interest in Carter with his pre-draft visits to make any team wanting to draft him concerned. I know it is a wild theory but could this be a smokescreen by Poles to bait a team to trade with us to draft Carter if he falls to #9?
  7. I see your point. I just hope in that possible scenario, Braxton can switch to ROT without a drop in proficiency. We seem to have a history of switching a player on the OL to an alternate position, quite often with negative results.
  8. I've read the same thing about Skoronski. If put at ROT, I think he'd be an excellent addition. If not, a developmental project Poles drafts late in the rounds or as a UDFA can fill the role when we need Skoronski to take Jenkins spot in the OL (when Jenkins contract expires and he demands to be released or traded because he wants to be an OT not an OG).
  9. Our rushing game was the top of the league with Fields running for his life (because of a crappy OL). If he has time to operate behind the line, having a RB like Bijan Robinson would make sure we have the weapons Fields needs to give us a top 10 offense in 2023 without risking his health by escaping pressure. That said, if Poles drafts Bijan at #9, I would understand his thinking, but would still prefer manning the trenches first.
  10. I just read an article on bearswire.usatoday on what the writer considers the top 10 options for offensive tackle in this years draft. I swear, I believe any one of the ten listed would be an upgrade for us over the revolving door at ROT we had last year. That being said, I'm not so sure, after looking over this list of players (some will be there when we pick in the 2nd) that our 1st rd pick will be OT (unless it is a late 1st after a trade down). The way I see it, if all of these players are gone before we pick in the 2nd round, there will be a few experienced OTs cut from rosters in the 2nd wave of FA once replaced by the rookies that can be plugged in until next years draft when we'll have 2 1st rd selections.. LOL 10 offensive tackles for the Bears in the 2023 NFL draft
  11. I just watched a video by Swifty. He confirms what we have been hearing that the word is we are looking to trade down, possibly Pittsburgh as a partner. But what surprised me more was he said the Bears are bringing in ROT from Ohio, Dewand Jones as a top 30 predraft interview. I know nothing but the stats I dug up. Height - 6'8" Weight - 374 lbs Wingspan - 89.5 Inches! Arms - 36 3/8 Inches Hands - 11 5/8 Inches 40 Time - 5.35 I've read positive reviews and negative. Is this a guy Poles might draft late round one if he trades down? Have any of you guys watched this guy play? Would he be a good 1st, or 2nd round pick for ROT? I'm guessing he'd be asked to drop 20 lbs. ?
  12. I would love it if they grabbed Levis with their first pick, I don't want anyone in the NFCN to pick Carter unless it is the Bears. I don't want a "possible" dominate 3T to worry about in our division. Let Seattle take Carter off the board to make it easy for us to forget him.
  13. I like the trade for Claypool. No one could imagine it being a pick at the top of round two. I doubt Poles makes the trade in hindsight. Let's hope he works out as expected at the time of the trade. It does bother me we have such a huge gap between our 1st round pick and our 2nd rounders. I am like many here hoping for a trade down that allows a starter with our 1st (OL or DL) and pick up an additional 2nd that is in the top half of round two, preferably top ten.
  14. According to "Swift Sports Network" the Bears will be designated as the away team in a matchup with KC in Germany. I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere else. If true, it would be a good trade off. I'd prefer playing KC on a neutral site than at Arrowhead. Found this: Report: Bears expected to play Chiefs in Germany in 2023
  15. Let him kick butt for 4 years on his rookie deal, making the pro bowl four times, then while he is still a hot commodity (and before he flames out) trade him for two 1sts. ?

I do subscribe to his page. I love Bears' Kool aide. He always serves up a tasty blend for a thirsty Bears' fan. He does reach on occasion. I laughed when he showed how great Edmunds was at shedding blocks. As an example he used a game Edmunds played against the Bears last year. He easily shed a block (if you call it that) by Riley Reiff. Geez, Reiff made everyone he went against look great.
  17. Totally agree with everything you said! I always loved Bears' Defenses dominating games, pounding the opposition. However, it is time the Bears became a top offensive force in the league. Times change. It all starts with the offense. The offense needs a QB that can dominate. The QB cannot do that without weapons and a TOP TIER OFFENSIVE LINE.
  18. Swift Sports Network put out a short video about Poles interest in Jake Witt. Seems he has been in touch with him for over a year, interviewed him, took him out to dinner, etc... Then I read an interview held with him on windycitygridiron.com. I suspect Poles will draft him with one of our 7th round picks or gamble and pick him up as a UFA. One way or another, don't be surprised if this kid doesn't wind up as a special project for Poles on our practice squad.
  19. Back in 2018 Whitehair must have done pretty good at Center since he earned a trip to the Pro Bowl. Then, of course, Bear's switched him back to guard????
  20. There has to be a better option. I trust Poles to solve the issues in the trenches. From an article on Fansided" https://thelandryhat.com/2023/03/02/cowboys-lael-collins-contract-disaster-bengals-release-rumors-steele/
  21. I'm sure it was a cheap signing for depth at LB and a good ST player. Still, good move. Roster Move: Bears sign LB Dylan Cole
  22. I just read an article on chicagobears.com: Football, life a family affair for Tremaine Edmunds Usually, these articles do not interest me that much. Someone from the Bears' putting up fluff to engage fans during the off season. However, this article has made me a huge fan of Tremaine. Talk about a high character guy! I am going to be a huge fan of his and can't wait to see him take charge of our defense.
  23. This is the quote from BearFan PHX that I was referring to. I'll leave it at that. Everyone will have different opinions. To be honest, if I'm Poles, I pray Carter is drafted before pick #9 OR a team drafting lower in the first wants to give up a lovely 2nd rounder to the Bears to move up and draft him. Problem solved. LOL
  24. Well, I'm a bit confused. I thought it was posted on this forum, in one of the threads, that he fully cooperated with the police. Maybe the member who posted that information can bring it back to the front (I'm a bit lazy and don't want to search all of the posts that have been made over the past several weeks. LOL)
  25. Before "the incident" that led to his friends death. Before his pro day. There was an interview with his HC from Georgia where he was asked about Carter's commitment to 'the game." Now, it could be just BS, wanting to help Carter. However, he stated that Carter on more than one occasion played with injuries that could have kept him on the sidelines in street clothes. He insists that Carter refused to excuse himself, saying he wanted to be on the field with his teammates. That the kid is committed to the game of football and anyone saying otherwise is wrong. So why did he show up for his pro day out of shape? I'm far more concerned about that than the street racing and unfortunate death of his friend. Where was his agent? If this kid is struggling and needs grief therapy, which I suspect is the case, get him some help! I want Poles to be thorough in his evaluation. It wouldn't hurt to have a therapist on hand to assist in the interview process. If he truly believes Carter is no more of a risk to fail than the Ryan Leaf, Cade McNown, Kevin White, or Curtin Enis sure fire selections, than I'm on board. Every pick is a risk. The year we took Enis at #5 Minnesota drafted Moss at #21. Enis was the sure fire pick, Moss was the one with the red flags. Assuming he is even there at #9.
