Yes, I admit, I was praying someone would pick this guy before we drafted but he was there and we got him. Afterwords, instead of pouting I started researching the guy, something I should have done before the draft but did not have the time to do so, and found I understood why they selected him. I have no doubt this will play out again tonight and tomorrow, LOL.

I think he will be an every down DE and will never see special teams duty. I also do not believe any conspiracy theory that he was drafted as a LB for a 3-4 in anticipation of Lovies departure. Sorry, but I do not think Lovie will go anywhere after we win the SB this year!
-
I read that there was I believe over 700 snaps taken by the two DTs that left that need to be made up for. That makes DT a priority in my mind.
-
Well it is not the first thing that comes to mind with me. I compare athletes and their skill sets and quite frankly could give a damn about skin color, race, religion, etc... I have no problems comparing Urlacher to Ray Lewis based solely on skill sets and history of production on the field. The fact that this type of stereotyping exists does not make it right. One of the first things another poster said as to why he did not like the selection was a mention of how he was white, as if it mattered? I find it troublesome some people think this way.

I am with you on this one, I had doubts at first, but after reading everything I could get my hands on, watching as much video as I could, I am liking this pick more and more. I predicted everyone would be pissed off after we made out selection, I was right, and now I predict everyone will love this guy once he gets a chance to play for us. Now, let's see what else Emery has up his sleeve.
-
I agree, I am tired of people making reference to race / color, lets stop that crap right now. It is not something I want to see in these forums. Why the hell does anyone have to use that as an argument.
-
If we had chosen Whitney Mercilus few would be making the argument that he is too small as a DE for out system. Mercilus is 6'3" 260 lbs. Shea McClellin is 6'3" 260 lbs. The big difference? Combine numbers very similar, with Shea better in items requiring speed The main difference I see is Shea was an outstanding player for 3 years and Mercilus had one good year Yes, Boise State is not a powerhouse, but is ASU? Let's give this guy a chance and for now let's give Emery some credit for filling a need.

I have a feeling listing to some shows that Fleener will be the pick for INDY as he played with Luck and would help give him a security blanket, an outlet who he is familiar with. Makes sense to me.
-
Emery says he is a 4 down player, and after watching the videos of him, I agree. He has great technique, is fast, and plenty strong enough to play every down. I like the way he wraps up on every tackle, many rookies, hell, even pros, get sloppy and do not wrap up.

I think they would still like a DT as well. We are in need of bodies there, be it the draft or FA part 2

I was concerned at first, but after checking things out, I am fine with the pick. Things I found out: Size is not an issue, many of the others who are listed as DE prospects, including Mercilius, are no bigger, and not as fast In Lovies scheme, we would not want a 300 lb DE, we want a speed guy, and that is what we have in Shea I have found no history of injury issues to be concerned about, not like C Jones who was a late riser but had a history of knee injury Suppose to have great football instincts, extremely high motor, quick off the snap, quick hands and feet Extremely high character, farm boy who has a chance to make it big in the big city, which he says will not intimidate him Some, including myself, liked players who only had 1 good year of college production. This guy was great his entire career at Boise I was upset at first, but hey, lets give this guy a shot. He has a lot of great write-ups on the net and I loved the video highlights.
-
I kept hoping someone else would select him, as I was not high on him. However, I will wait and see. Personally, I would have loved several other options instead but then I am certainly not a good evaluator of college talent and many I did not like in the past turned into great players.
-
It was a fast selection, so I assume that it is a player we did not expect to be there and wanted.
-
I assume Cleveland, knowing Minny was shopping their pick, was concerned another team may have traded with Minny and picked Richardson. That is the only way it would make sense.
-
I have a feeling Minny is going to trade down again, they will have a boat load of picks, but hopefully they will screw up on who they select.
-
No 2nd, they swap 1st rounders, and give up a 4, 5, & 7.
-
4th, 5th, & 7th Rounder
-
Well, there is always an exception...... LOL

I have no doubt over half the members who post here will be moaning and groaning, some totally ballistic, about the Bears selections. Happens every year, we all have our favorites, guys we want drafted, but unfortunately they are seldom selected. I just hope this year we can keep it all in perspective and give Emery a chance to prove his worth without making rash judgements saying he is a failure because he did not pick who we want and making selections he feels will be best for the Bears, this year and the future.
-
I know we have a lot of holes to fill, but FA Part 2 will be starting soon with some good players becoming available as teams sort through what they need to do after the draft. If we could get a guaranteed, (as much as one can guarantee ANY draft selection), difference maker for our defense, why not? I would hate to give up Forte, so I would rather do it with picks only, but if they feel that Forte will walk next year, and no hope of getting him signed to a long term deal, I am ok with it.
-
He starts off by saying he hates to do mocks, and it sure shows. This is one of the worse pieces of garbage I have seen when it comes to the Bears. Look at who he has us taking and more importantly who we pass up and leave on the board at 19. If it worked out this way I would be so pissed off you couldn't begin to imagine. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/mock-drafts/...HP11_hot_topics
-
And that is what bothers me, the "late riser". In addition, his knee injury I am reading about in 2011.
-
Remember, Tommy Harris Round 1, Tank Johnson Round 2, I would not rule it out.
-
I am hearing several, including Mayock who I respect more than most analysts, rave about this guy and have the Bears elated he "falls" to them. He was a late riser on the draft boards from what I can tell which always make me a little nervous. Seems like those guys tend to bust. Any of you guys watch this guy play? Is he the real deal? Should I be keeping my fingers crossed that we get him or should I be praying someone else gets him off the board before the Bears pick?

I have no problems with the site. Speed is fine. Just dislike the ads. Would not be so bad if the switch them on occasion, but for instance, if you watch the video of their mock they held using the NFL Network analyst, every 3 or 4 picks is interrupted with the exact same stupid ad over, and over, and over...
