I think they would still like a DT as well. We are in need of bodies there, be it the draft or FA part 2
-
I was concerned at first, but after checking things out, I am fine with the pick. Things I found out: Size is not an issue, many of the others who are listed as DE prospects, including Mercilius, are no bigger, and not as fast In Lovies scheme, we would not want a 300 lb DE, we want a speed guy, and that is what we have in Shea I have found no history of injury issues to be concerned about, not like C Jones who was a late riser but had a history of knee injury Suppose to have great football instincts, extremely high motor, quick off the snap, quick hands and feet Extremely high character, farm boy who has a chance to make it big in the big city, which he says will not intimidate him Some, including myself, liked players who only had 1 good year of college production. This guy was great his entire career at Boise I was upset at first, but hey, lets give this guy a shot. He has a lot of great write-ups on the net and I loved the video highlights.
-
I kept hoping someone else would select him, as I was not high on him. However, I will wait and see. Personally, I would have loved several other options instead but then I am certainly not a good evaluator of college talent and many I did not like in the past turned into great players.
-
It was a fast selection, so I assume that it is a player we did not expect to be there and wanted.
-
I assume Cleveland, knowing Minny was shopping their pick, was concerned another team may have traded with Minny and picked Richardson. That is the only way it would make sense.
-
I have a feeling Minny is going to trade down again, they will have a boat load of picks, but hopefully they will screw up on who they select.
-
No 2nd, they swap 1st rounders, and give up a 4, 5, & 7.
-
4th, 5th, & 7th Rounder

Well, there is always an exception...... LOL

I have no doubt over half the members who post here will be moaning and groaning, some totally ballistic, about the Bears selections. Happens every year, we all have our favorites, guys we want drafted, but unfortunately they are seldom selected. I just hope this year we can keep it all in perspective and give Emery a chance to prove his worth without making rash judgements saying he is a failure because he did not pick who we want and making selections he feels will be best for the Bears, this year and the future.
-
I know we have a lot of holes to fill, but FA Part 2 will be starting soon with some good players becoming available as teams sort through what they need to do after the draft. If we could get a guaranteed, (as much as one can guarantee ANY draft selection), difference maker for our defense, why not? I would hate to give up Forte, so I would rather do it with picks only, but if they feel that Forte will walk next year, and no hope of getting him signed to a long term deal, I am ok with it.

He starts off by saying he hates to do mocks, and it sure shows. This is one of the worse pieces of garbage I have seen when it comes to the Bears. Look at who he has us taking and more importantly who we pass up and leave on the board at 19. If it worked out this way I would be so pissed off you couldn't begin to imagine. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2012/mock-drafts/...HP11_hot_topics

And that is what bothers me, the "late riser". In addition, his knee injury I am reading about in 2011.
-
Remember, Tommy Harris Round 1, Tank Johnson Round 2, I would not rule it out.
-
I am hearing several, including Mayock who I respect more than most analysts, rave about this guy and have the Bears elated he "falls" to them. He was a late riser on the draft boards from what I can tell which always make me a little nervous. Seems like those guys tend to bust. Any of you guys watch this guy play? Is he the real deal? Should I be keeping my fingers crossed that we get him or should I be praying someone else gets him off the board before the Bears pick?

I have no problems with the site. Speed is fine. Just dislike the ads. Would not be so bad if the switch them on occasion, but for instance, if you watch the video of their mock they held using the NFL Network analyst, every 3 or 4 picks is interrupted with the exact same stupid ad over, and over, and over...

Good news, but expected. He will is an excellent #3 RB, just needs to learn to protect the ball a bit better. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8768

LOL, you guys are as stubborn as any posters I have seen here in over a decade.
-
I agree, it seems to me he did the right thing.

I have been waiting to hear news of what is going on with this alleged incident since the news first broke after the trade. The last I heard the police do not seem to be investigating this issue, almost as if they feel it is a false allegation. I had also heard the complainant seems to be reluctant to talk to authorities. Has this been dismissed, or is it still a time bomb ready to explode with the Commish holding the dead-man switch?

It is a good year for DT/DE, so I imagine a lot of teams will be disproportionate in regards to the number they bring in. Bottom line, I think there is at least 1 player from every position on the team coming to visit except for QB, P, & K.

Exactly, the scouting prep for this years draft had pretty much been completed by the time he came in, I am sure he is anxious to get "his staff" using "his grading system" in place asap AFTER the draft. This years draft may be a bit more difficult for him as he will be trying to extract info from the scouting reports based on a different grading system used by JA. I am sure he can handle this little "glitch" just fine.
-
...and so far all the words he uses in his press conferences can be found in the Webster Dictionary, LOL I sort of enjoyed JA's unique vocabulary, to be honest.
-
I disagree, I think he could have canned the entire scouting staff if he wanted to, just because he has to accept Lovie for one more year (which I personally do not see as a negative) does not mean he has no power over his scouts. However, that said, at this point in the year it would be foolish to make changes until after the draft. I suspect he will do so in preparations for next years draft shortly after this years draft.

When I read the title of the thread, before I read the responses, I was pissed thinking Emery actually listed the 7 players he was looking at with our #1 pick. I liked the fact he had been secretive in regards to off season moves and the draft. Thank God he is keeping his word. Very interesting, looks like he is open to all options.
