  1. Good news, but expected. He will is an excellent #3 RB, just needs to learn to protect the ball a bit better. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=8768
  2. LOL, you guys are as stubborn as any posters I have seen here in over a decade.
  3. I agree, it seems to me he did the right thing.
  4. I have been waiting to hear news of what is going on with this alleged incident since the news first broke after the trade. The last I heard the police do not seem to be investigating this issue, almost as if they feel it is a false allegation. I had also heard the complainant seems to be reluctant to talk to authorities. Has this been dismissed, or is it still a time bomb ready to explode with the Commish holding the dead-man switch?
  5. It is a good year for DT/DE, so I imagine a lot of teams will be disproportionate in regards to the number they bring in. Bottom line, I think there is at least 1 player from every position on the team coming to visit except for QB, P, & K.

    Emery's System

Exactly, the scouting prep for this years draft had pretty much been completed by the time he came in, I am sure he is anxious to get "his staff" using "his grading system" in place asap AFTER the draft. This years draft may be a bit more difficult for him as he will be trying to extract info from the scouting reports based on a different grading system used by JA. I am sure he can handle this little "glitch" just fine.
  7. ...and so far all the words he uses in his press conferences can be found in the Webster Dictionary, LOL I sort of enjoyed JA's unique vocabulary, to be honest.

    Emery's System

I disagree, I think he could have canned the entire scouting staff if he wanted to, just because he has to accept Lovie for one more year (which I personally do not see as a negative) does not mean he has no power over his scouts. However, that said, at this point in the year it would be foolish to make changes until after the draft. I suspect he will do so in preparations for next years draft shortly after this years draft.
  9. When I read the title of the thread, before I read the responses, I was pissed thinking Emery actually listed the 7 players he was looking at with our #1 pick. I liked the fact he had been secretive in regards to off season moves and the draft. Thank God he is keeping his word. Very interesting, looks like he is open to all options.
  10. Fantastic, but the crown goes to the winner and I have already placed my picks, LOL Good luck! Hope you win the trip to the SB!
  11. So, if I remember correctly, B Marshall will be getting less per year than Wallace wants after one "break out" season. I think I would pass, if we are going to spend that kind of money I want someone more proven and and at a position of greater need. Yep, we could use one more kick butt receiver, just do not need a 10 million dollar man that may make NFL Networks top 10 1 year wonders.

    Emery's System

I am not saying this "system" he uses is the only good system, but very interesting in concept and certainly can be successful is implemented correctly. Jim Finks was one of the best GMs of all time, he had a great ability to evaluate players. If I am not mistaken, he is in the HOF due to his work.
  13. Here is an article from NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8288..._content_stream It shows that the Patriots have drafted more all-pros since 2002 than any other team. Yet they are always drafting at the bottom of the first round, or trading away their first rounder and not even drafting in the first. Oddly, JA did pretty good over that period as far as the number of all-pros drafted.
  14. I am sure some have read this article on the Sun-Tmes website, but for those who have not you might want to check it out. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...c-approach.html It basically explains differences on how players are graded in the system Emery uses, an off-shoot of the "Patriot Approach" It will probably come into play with how he selects players not only in FA but the draft. You can certainly see how his FA this season was effected by his past experiences with this system. Basically, he wanted to go into the draft without huge needs making him select a players for need instead of BPA. I suspect that is exactly what we are going to see, BPA, regardless of need, and if it happens the BPA is a need, all the better.
  15. Money isn't as much an issue with the new rookie cap structure lowering what rookies get with the new contract. However, the cost of picks needed to fill other needs is a concern.

    Pick it

Every year some player drops do to character concerns. Many knock Coples due to being "lazy". I hope he drops because between Peppers (former NC player) and Marinelli working with him I have no doubt this guy would be dynamite for us. Realistically, I am hoping Mercilus is still there after another team breaks my heart and picks Coples.
  17. I will probably finish mine up this weekend, sure hope some more guys join us. In the past we have had a good turn out for this type of draft prediction contest. I was hoping for a dozen or more just to make it a bit more fun.
  18. We want BPA in the draft for a change, we want a player who can contribute in 2012. I may disagree with some of the assessments in this article but I love the way it is presented. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d828...HP11_hot_topics
  19. I think the only "untradeable" picks are the compensatory picks awarded, which we do not have this year.
  20. They may have changed the rules for kick-offs, but Hester has always been a better punt returner than a KO guy, IMO, and nothing has changed there. Every player is "tradeable" for the right price, but it would have to be a very sweet deal!
  21. I bet he goes in the first round, just my guess, every year there is a run on the OL in the first and players you never thought would be picked 1st round disappear.
  22. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get Forte finally signed to a long term contract before the draft. It sure would make things sweet. I also would not be surprised if there was another FA addition before the draft. Players that are FA are coming down in their asking price.
  23. One thing for sure, if he tested positive for Marijuana at the Combine, he has to be out-right stupid!
  24. I have a heck of a lot more faith in Tice as an OC, OL Coach than I do our WR Coach Drake, who I have never cared for!
  25. Experienced and young, good combo for added depth to our roster http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,1464473.story
