  1. I see on NFL.com that Packers are considered one of the favorites to get him, LOL. What are they thinking?
  2. http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/19/jets-agree...HP11_hot_topics Good deal, we did not need another Safety that cannot stay healthy, it seems every year all out safeties are a mash unit.
  3. Basically, he had one huge game, a fantastic performance, with a group of the best WRs in the league, and gets 10 Million guaranteed. Not bad. I have no idea if this guy is worth a darn, but he sure did make a lot of money off of that one game.
  4. From what I can tell he was to make a base salary of 4.5 million this year, then the big bonus if they kept him. Obviously, the base salary is not a problem. So what would he get on the market? Here is info and his stat line from last year: Wimbley had seven sacks, 21½ quarterback knockdowns and 9½ hurries last season, according to STATS LLC. What would those figures be if he was opposite Peppers? http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/...-out-in-oakland
  5. According to Canfora, our updated cap figure is Chicago: $12,878,335 Million, but that is just one source and what does it include? It was mentioned very early in conversations about free agency that last year Wimbley was a major interest to the Bears and Lovie but stayed with Oakland. I only assumed that if they were "hot" for his "BOD" to come to Chicago before, they would still have interest. I would love to see them use him as LB next to Briggs & Urlacher, then on Passing situations, bring him up as DE. Blitz him from LB, turn him loose at DE opposite Peppers. Sort of fill two holes with one player.
  6. I am hoping he is on his way to Chicago, I have a feeling there will be a lot of interest in him and if we do not strike quick we will not get him on board.
  7. I am not saying I want it to happen, but let's face it, Campbell will only be here one year, he wants to be a starter, but with all that is going on with Manning & Flynn he decided to take a quick easy 3 Million and sit behind Cutler for a year and try again next year when the Cap is going to increase significantly. So if you are a team near the end of the season in desperate need of a starter, knowing what is going to be available will be the dregs of the QB crop, and you see Campbell sitting on our bench, do you approach Emery? I say yes. And if you are Emery knowing that you are not likely to resign Campbell at a reasonable price next year do you listen to offers? I say yes. Normally a 3rd would be out of the question, but in a situation like that, higher compensation has been given in desperation to save a season. The Bears have no 3rd next year. Will it happen, maybe not. But it would not surprise me if "Late in the Season" and the situation comes up.
  8. Every year QBs go down and teams scramble for a QB that can take their place because they do not feel they have a good enough backup in place. I am very comfortable with both backups we have. If a team goes hunting for a emergency QB because of injuries to their starter, the Bears would be in a great position as I feel they could actually get a decent draft choice for Campbell, possibly a 3rd rounder, if a team was hurting and needed a QB with promise and starting experience to come in. Just a thought, and although I hope we keep him as an insurance policy, you never know!!!
  9. With our luck he will restructure and stay put. I think if he leaves, is cut, that the Bears will jump all over him (along with some other teams) and that that might be why we are in a holding pattern in FA at this point, he would be a great addition to the D.
  10. You joking right? With Wanny running the D you know they will be dynamite, LOL.
  11. Buffalo had a decent defense last year, not they are going to be huge, hope they can kick the Patriots ass!
  12. I like Davis and feel he has been short changed do to the offensive systems run, I think he will be utilized much more this year with Tice as OC and might just be a heck of a lot better than many realize.
  13. What has happened with Roy Williams? Has he been cut, in limbo, interviewing with other teams, ???? I have not heard anything.
  14. I certainly am not saying he will return in 2012, in fact, assuming the doctors say he will eventually return to the field, I would prefer they put him on the back shelf for a year to assure he is 100% before attempting to come back.
  15. Let's not write off Knox just yet. He may take time to heal but there is a good chance he will return, or at least I am hoping so, I kinda like the guy and hope he can make it back.
  16. We could have waited for a few weeks after all the good backups were signed by other teams and take the best backup left to sign, isn't that what Angelo use to do all the time? I like the proactive signing, let's just hope he never has to play, but we need the security of a decent backup. Like someone said earlier, if we had had him as a backup last year there is a good chance we would have been in the playoffs.

    Wyche

What about someone like Jared Gaither, SDC? My understanding is he played pretty good in place of McNeil last year when he went down.
  18. The wait for this info is over, cap at about the same as last year, 120.6 Million http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/11/salary-cap...HP11_hot_topics
  19. If between Washington & Chicago (Hear Washington would be our thorn), I know the Redskins seem to have deep pockets when it comes to FAs, but do you really think VJ would want to go to a team like Washington with the QB situation they have or prefer going to Chicago with Cutler as his QB? It would be to his advantage to go to the team that not only can offer him a big contract but also a QB that can give him a chance to excel and get to the SB.
  20. When is the last time we had a WR who looked like a LB? I hope this guy is not on Steroids. He looks like a monster WR, just what we are looking for.
  21. When Butkus was ending his career I was worried out defense would never be the same without him. Then Singletary came along and we had one of the top defenses in NFL History. Then when Samurai retired I though, oh shit, our defense is going to suck, who will replace him? Then Urlacher was drafted. I keep hearing our window of opportunity is closing, I just do not believe it. I do not care what the hell we have to pay VJ, if by doing so it helps take us to another level and a trip to the SB, then it is worth every penny. Sign VJ, then draft a top WR prospect to go along with him. That window will open wide and we will have some fun again in Chicago.
  22. Royal would be interesting because he certainly had a great year with Cutler. He would not be a #1 but would be an excellent option for Cutler as they seemed to work well together in the past. Heck, they were together when our new QB coach was working with the Denver offense, right? Still need a "Beast" as a number one option, but we need more quality receivers to go along with the #1 so Royal might just be a cheap option that would work out???
  23. I was not too high on him, I have a feeling he will never reach his potential due to attitude issues, from what I am hearing. Now Emery has ties to KC, it would not hurt me one bit to see both Carr & Bowe signed day one of FA.

    Foster

That is actually good news. Foster is very comparable to Forte IMO, great running the ball, excellent catching the ball, both young. At this point in their careers Foster would probably be considered by many as the better of the two. So now the Bears have a legitimate bargaining point with a reasonable figure to work with.
  25. I suspect this will set the standard for Forte: It will establish a ceiling, not sure if it will be matched, maybe something similar. I am anxious to hear the terms which are now being finalized.
