Rodgers In
I think the only thing that will change with GB with Rogers coming back is they will be: Forced to keep extra protection for Rogers in the backfield Rogers will be less likely to take off running with the ball If he is smart and his protection breaks down (and our D actually applies pressure) he will pull the trigger a bit quicker to avoid the sack Our defense had also better watch out because after knocking Rogers out of the lineup the last time we played GB and his return this week, I am sure the refs will call anything remotely looking like "roughing the QB" against the Bears D.

Les Frazier
I think one of the reasons there are so many players on the last year of their contracts is Emery realized that after retooling the offense he was going to have to do the same with the defense this year. Tucker got the short end of the stick. He took over a team with a solid starting lineup and was very successful in the past. Then Urlacher retires, Melton goes down, etc... and before you know it he has over half of the players on the starting D that are backups &/or new to the system. I am not so sure they would be playing much better if Smith & RM were still running the show. I see Emery in the backroom right now with his Pro Scouting guys plotting a revamp of the D. I also would not be surprised if Tucker is given full control and in the process of the off-season rebuilding of the D switch to a 3-4 scheme, which is something Tucker has done in the past. As interesting as Emery's moves were last year in both Free Agency and the Draft to get our Offense in high gear, it might be equally as interesting to see what transpires this year in the "year of the defense".

To All
I as well wish everyone a happy & healthy holiday season. Sorry I have not been able to participate as much as I would like on the forum but I have been very busy with work. Be assured, I do try and check the forums often, just have not have time to get involved with exchanges. Take care everyone. Hopefully we will be talking playoffs after the game with the Packers. That would be one great gift to all of us.

I've been saying it all season but two people must go
I have always thought Shea would have been much better suited to be groomed as a linebacker. I just do not believe he has the attributes for a 4-3 DE

If Cutler's season is over, what do you do next year?
I think the Bears will bring back QB Jordan Palmer to backup.

Locked Thread
I have had several requests to lock the Webb thread so that it will roll off the page and we can get onto more important issues, things like the 2013 Bears and trying to make the playoffs. If anyone has major objections I can open it back up. Hopefully we can bury this and move on.

Are we dangerously thin at OL?
I hope this is true as I also was concerned about depth on the OL after reading the article on the team site. How often have we seen more than one OL go down in a single game? Do we want to be in a position where we have to plug in a TE on the OL in the middle of a game if we have multiple injuries during the game and run out of reserves? It might sound nuts but it has happened to other teams in the past.

FF2 guys
LOL, you trade a player who is having back pain, took shots for the back pain and now has leg pain, no one knows for sure what is going on, will he miss any games? Disc issue? Nerve Issue? or both? Will he need surgery? Will he miss the season? Is his career over? No one knows. But, you keep his handcuff, Tate, on your roster just in case. Pretty slick. Hope the trade works out for both of you but have a feeling only one of you will benefit from this trade.

Kelvin Hayden Out of the Year
I expect to see us pick up a veteran CB either now or after rosters are cut before the season starts. I do not think we will put all our chips into the ante with a raw & unproven starter. Frey might kick butt but we still need more depth.

Talkbears2 FF Options
Thanks for setting it up as PPR Everything else works, 1 day waiver, etc... (I agree that raiding the FA list during a game can be a big negative for those of us who might not have the time to spend on game days. It sort of by-passes the whole reason we have waiver position rotation to level the field) Obviously, since I brought it up before, I would prefer to drop one starting WR and change it to either 2 Flex - WR/RB or 2 Flex - WR/RB/TE (not sure if this is an option offered by Yahoo)

TalkBears2 FF League
Great job in filling out the 12 team roster for the league. I love it, makes it more competitive! Any further thought into making this a PPR scoring league? With the number of starters and limited backups I would also love to see a possible change from 2 RB - 3 WR - 1 TE - 1 Flex to 2 RB - 2 WR - 1 TE - 2 Flex It would give us added flexibility on bye weeks and to cover our butts when we are carrying an injured player on our roster.

Training Camp Surprise
I personally love the addition of TE Bennett to our lineup and feel he will be a huge weapon for Cutler. Many on this forum seem to under value him do to his lack of production with Dallas. In Dallas he was frustrated sitting behind Whitten. In his one year in NY he played very well. Bennett would not qualify as a "surprise" to me but I think he will surprise the many on the forum who seem to dismiss his value. I also agree with many on this thread that Hardin has the potential to be a big plus this year.

TalkBears2 FF League
It would be great to have 12 teams, hopefully we can get a full boat. Not sure about Da Boars.

TalkBears2 FF League
Thanks for clarifying that, I was obviously mistaken. Getting leagues mixed up, LOL

TalkBears2 FF League
I was trying to remember, I think last year the TalkBears2 League had 12 teams, 8 making the playoffs, 4 in consolidation rounds. I see 10 teams signed up so far even with Gary joining our league. Is this indeed a 12 team league with 2 teams yet to resign for the league or is it a 10 team league? Just trying to figure this out as it makes a big difference in drafting strategy.

TalkBears2 FF League
LT, sign Bowlingtwig up, I could use a couple of easy wins this year LOL

Thanks! Signed back up.

TalkBears2 FF League
If you change it to live draft and get rid of the auto-draft, I think everyone would be happy. If it is a live draft I will sign up. If you want to add 1 point per reception I personally would be thrilled, however, others, including yourself, might not agree so I will go with whatever the majority wants. I just personally like that bonus and I think it makes the rankings a bit more challenging.

TalkBears2 FF League
I got a notice to sign up for the TalkBears2 FF League I participated in last year but noticed it was set up for Auto-Draft. If it is going to be an Auto-Draft, I am not interested. Can anyone confirm that it is indeed changed to Auto-Draft this year? Last year I did not realize until a few minutes before the draft started that players did not get a point per reception, which I prefer, but went ahead and played. My fault, should have been more attentive to the rules. I just want to make sure I do not sign up for an Auto-Draft league as I think they really suck.

Patriots offer fans Hernandez Jersey Exchange
For players in the past I would have to say Rick Mirer. We gave up a 1st round pick for him, he sucked, played in a handful of games, got paid over 10 Million (in 1997 that was HUGE), and then was released in 1998 before the season began. Talk about bust, he rewrote the definition. Current player on our roster? That is a tough one. Without resorting to a player on the roster who was not active last year (we have many "camp jockies" who are temporarily on our roster) I am sorry to say I would have to pick a player who, by selecting him, will piss off several forum members. For several years all I have heard is how this player has such great potential, will continue to improve, etc... He has been given every opportunity to prove himself and IMHO has failed miserably. I would love him gone just so our current staff does not waste any further time in trying to fit what I consider is a "square peg in a round hole". I would gladly trade away a J'Marcus Webb jersey and move on.

WTF?????? Marshall, Jeffrey and Johnson????
You lost me, but at my age, I get lost a lot, LOL I will agree on this point however... that flaming each other on the forum is costing us may good posters I came to this board many many years ago after leaving another forum that was filled with posters attacking anyone who voiced an opinion that they did not agree with. I got tired of being called every name in the book and degraded whenever I voiced an unpopular opinion. When I first joined this forum there was no such activity going on here. However, I have seen a lot of this going on here recently and it has escalated over the past year. We have had a lot of very good posters leave this forum for the same reason I left the previous forum. There are far too many insults slung around by certain posters who do not like being disagreed with. Unfortunately, if I try to step in and eliminate this I know from past experience that I will then piss off many posters for any measure I can take to try and stop the verbal abuse of posters. Believe me, I know from previous experiences. Catch 22

WTF?????? Marshall, Jeffrey and Johnson????
So because he states adamantly he does not want us to consider bringing in Johnson he is a "tool" Then I guess that makes me a "tool" also, bowlingtool and pixtool. I do not want him as an option either. Or maybe you should consider that everyone who states an opinion that you do not agree with are not necessarily a "tool" or idiot or ??? Maybe the diversity of opinion in a forum is what most of those visiting a forum are actually looking for?

Well now the battle is on with the O-line
I agree with you, fluff, doesn't make sense to me. I know one thing for sure, this coaching staff is not going to be like the last and keep on trusting players saying they are going to improve, they have faith in them. That is why our OL was so bad the past 4-5 years. I firmly believe they will start the best 5 players and I honestly do not believe Webb is one of them. I have said in the past and I repeat, I remember his play at ROT in the past before being switched to LOT. He sucked at ROT. He sucked at LOT. He is a good experienced back-up option for both positions in case of injury but that is it. I suspect ROT will be between 3 players, Jonathan Scott (who I thought did exceptionally well before being injured last year), Jordan Mills (very interesting draft pick) and Kyle Long (although it is stated he will start off as an option at OG I would not be surprised to see him land at ROT if he has an excellent camp).

Carimi to be cut?
I have to agree, I cannot see writing this guy off until he has a chance to compete for a roster position in training camp. Yes, maybe he should be at OTAs but it is not unheard of for players to miss these for many reasons. But I think they will wait and see how he performs in preseason and then make the call. If he is cut I would be surprised if that came about until final cuts.
