He has admitted we played poorly in the past many times. However, when asked on the eve of training camp I do not think he needs to talk about the past, but needs to move forward and kick ass. If he did anything else I would be disappointed.

But all the pieces are in place!

For some reason I was freezing up when trying to make the post. Sorry. At any rate, what I was trying to say is that I have read a lot of rookies and vets getting injured in OTAs and mini camps. Now, this guy is lost for the season. I do not want to hear about any injuries this off-season. We need to stay healthy if we are going to have a chance to surprise people. I have never wanted to see the Bears KICK MAJOR ASS as bad as I have this year. I am so sick and tired of all the experts and rival fans.

Let's hope this type of luck stays in other teams camps " Ravens starting CB Domonique Foxworth suffered a torn ACL in practice and will miss the season.

I do not ever recall a head coach of any pro team, including the NFL, be interviewed before the season started and say that they had a crappy team and may have problems competing. I have no problems with Smith's Optimism. Just another story to fill a column of news writers who are as bored as we all are and trying to find something to talk about.

From this clip from an article on the Tribune site it makes it sound as if Unga will probably make the 53 man cut so we will certainly have to wait and see who gets cut. Maybe he will be put at FB but the article also says he has never been put in that role so it would be a project.

My impressions from the video: He looks faster than 4.6 He looks smaller than 240+ He looks like he needs a good deal of work in the weight room He showed some good moves in the open field He had quite a few runs around the corner which I did not expect I don't know, some mixed emotions on my part as I was looking for a old style smash mouth fullback which I did not see on the film but may well be worth a gamble for a 7th round pick Even if he gets cut, no big deal
-
The way I look at it is this guy has better credentials and upside as a prospect than anything we would have been able to select in the 7th round next year. Therefore, it is a no risk pickup. Even if he does not make it, how many 7th rounders do? (I know there are exceptions to that question but the odds are high.)

Bears Banking on Another Tice Turnaround
-
I have seen statements made by Thayer that we critical and brutally honest. At last year's fan convention when questioned he was not all flattering when answering questions about the Bears. I do not think he is a puppet on a string. Larry Meyer, that is a different story. Joniak, that is a different story.

Link: http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/sha...rcTrk=RTR_95649 Clipped from the Austin American-Statesman article by Tony Plohetski and Kevin Robbins: Former University of Texas football player Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with assault with injury early today after an incident last month at Annie's West at 706 West Sixth Street, where officials said he punched a bar employee in the face. The 27-year-old current running back for the Cincinnati Bengals had been involved in an altercation at the establishment and was being escorted out when he punched an employee, according to an arrest affidavit. Benson has posted bail and has been released from the Travis County Jail, according to jail records and officials. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted of the Class A misdemeanor.

Oh I would love it, but I just do not see it happening. I think the Bears, after spending HUGE bucks in FA already, may stand pat on this one. I heard J.J. in Dallas might be in the hunt. If he is the price tag has just gone up.

The good old bucket step. I was pissed when they went to that bucket step/zone blocking bullshit. Man, how long has it been since we went to that crap? Did it start with Juaron or Wanny? I played OT in school. I loved firing off the snap and dominating my man before he had a chance to react. I love pancakes, LOL. This Pussy Footing blocking scheme we use to run drove me nuts. Once I found out Tice is "old school" I was happy!

This type of juggling happens all the time with all teams. Even NEP have one of the best run carousels in the NFL. OK, you mention Chris Harris. If you are a Carolina fan you look at it this way: We traded a late draft pick and got an excellent starter in Chris Harris. Then, even though he was a darn good safety for us and a starter during his time in CAR we trade him back for a LB who has yet to prove he can be anything more than a good backup.

Man I love it, now I am really getting anxious..........

Gary (bowlingtwig) and I went to the Fan Convention last year and were fortunate enough to get the signatures & a hand shake from Knox and Gilbert and I can tell you he definitely spends time with the weights. He may be small but if you ever see him in a t-shirt he is ripped and extremely well built for a small guy.
-
You talking about Bears players or us in the forum?
-
You know, I actually like Manning. He is a good nickle back. He can fill in at corner or safety but because he has been jerked around so much he really wouldn't be a good starter at those 2 positions. Just a backup guy. I am perfectly fine with him as Nickle and KO return specialist.

Just think of what the right side of the line would look like if Webb & Vance were starters on the right. ROT J'Marcus Webb 6'8" 335 lbs ROG Vince Vance 6'8" 325 lbs Now that would be intimidating!

Again, ALL systems work this way. Last year how many times did Cutler throw to a spot the revceiver was suppose to be but the receiver cut the wrong way or stopped his route? This caused a good number of incompletions and a few interceptions. It is because he was throwing to a spot the receiver was suppose to be, a timing route, and he threw the ball to that spot before he realized the receiver was not going to be where he was suppose to be. The only time a pro QB in a Pro system does not "throw to the spot the receiver is suppose to be before the receiver makes his cut or arrives at that spot is when the play breaks down and the QB is looking for a WR to break the route and freelance a bit to get free and save the play.
-
Doesn't all offensive schemes try and do this? I do not think throwing the ball to where the receiver is suppose to be is unique to any one particular offensive scheme.

Congratulations Gary & Pam. Great to hear from you guys and I sure am pleased everything went well. Hopefully we can get together and catch up on old news. Is it too soon to ask when #3 is due,

I agree with you totally LT.
