  1. Wouldn't that be of a question about Tice instead of Martz? I am pretty sure, from what I have seen, Tice has them fire out, old school smash mouth football. None of this pansy step in the bucket routine, not the "zone" blocking routine, just plain and simple get in your face and get ugly. I sure hope I am right because that is the way I played OT when I was a young'n and that is what I would like to see happen. Slobberknocker football. Pancakes anyone???
  2. That is why I like Kampman more, he does not take off and disappear like Peppers.
  3. I consider a "short" pass to a RB out of the backfield or in the flat the same as a running play. It is just a "looooonger" handoff, LOL.
  4. In the beginning of the season it was widely reported that several GBP D players were not thrilled with their new roles in the 3-4 and Kampman was the most vocal. As the season progressed he became less "public" but I have to believe if he could go to a 4-3 that would utilize his strengths better he would be a happy camper.
  5. Recently I have seen an increase in the number of posters who are copying large amounts of text from articles found on the net. It is important to remember there are copyright laws that if violated could cause the owners of the forum major legal problems or possibly having the forum shut down. When you want to copy a significant amount of text from an article please do two things: 1 - Put the text in quotes. In the tools given above the area you will see an option to add a quote, looks like a word balloon from a comic book, 2nd from the right. Click on it and paste the text between the two bracketed codes seen inserted into your post. (If you do not want to use that tool at least put the copied text you are pasting in a different color or font so the reader knows what section is from a copyrighted article). 2 - It is also very important to copy the link to the article and include it in the post. You can simply copy the URL and paste it or use the link tool (looks like a green arrow with a + sign) to add the link. If you are going to just quote one line from an article, no big deal. If you are going to quote one small paragraph, just make sure you say where it came from. BUT, IF YOU COPY A LARGER SECTION, OR THE ENTIRE ARTICLE, PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES I MENTIONED ABOVE. I can not stress how important this is. We do not want to lose another forum and have to search for another home.
  6. Although I like Pepper, I like Kampman even better. He does not fit into their new 3-4 as well as they had hoped. He would fit right in with our scheme. With him in a 4-3 we would have what we want in a DE to pressure the QB.
  7. .........or throwing for 4500 yds, 40 TDs and 5 INTs
  8. Shoop, you have to be joking? Look at it this way, our offense is going to be kick ass and we will win our division (which is what we all want) OR we will flop again and we will get a new HC (which is what most of us want).
  9. I would love to see the Bears make the move. He is the type of player who would automatically elevate the play of our DL. I was watching ESPN earlier and they were mentioning they thought he would be an UFA this offseason. I am sure the bidding war will be intense. Let's hope he fits within our cap space and we go after him.
  10. I knew he was fast, but did not realize he was able to run that fast!
  11. First we are complaining we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel interviewing OCs that have limited experience or credentials then we are complaining about interviewing an OC that certainly has a good resume just because, I assume, he has ties to Lovie. Does having an association with Lovie automatically disqualify you for a position with the Bears? If he tries to run the greatest show on earth here he will fail. We all know that. However, I would like to think he is smart enough to adapt his offense to what talent he has around him. I would like to think that if the Bears brought in Tice for the OL it means we still want to play smash mouth football on offense. I do not know if we will hire this guy or not. I would like to wait until after the SB and try and interview some candidates from those two teams. However, if we wait, then the Bears (according to many) are inept because they have taken too long. Guess there is not a damn thing the Bears management can do at this point to satisfy anyone, short of a total house cleaning, which will not happen, so we might as well stop thinking about that until we see what happens in the 2010 season.
  12. Is it as much JA not providing the Bears with the proper talent or the coaching staff being unable to develop that talent and utilize the skills of the players being drafted? Drafting is certainly not an exact science and all GMs screw the pooch on their selections more often than they would like to admit. In the case of the 2 guys you mention, Rex and Cedric. We may never know if Rex was that bad or if he was just screwed up with the way he was worked with over the course of his stay in Chicago. I thought the way they tried to develop him his rookie year was totally stupid, allowing him to start one or two series a game. Then look at the Offensive offensive coordinators and coaching he had that were used to develop him, Ughhh. Cedric never ran with the passion and skills we envisioned when we drafted him. We wound up letting him go. Now look what he is doing in CIN with different position coaching & OC. Harris was an outstanding selection by JA, then he became injured and seemed to lose his passion for the game. Is that JA's fault? Colombo was an outstanding selection. He had a serious injury and it seemed as if he would never recover from the injury so an injury settlement was made. Since then he has worked out pretty good in Dallas. Some of his selections in later rounds have been outstanding. If you want to knock JA for his selection of LS as HC, fine. However, I believe any HC is only as good as his Coordinators and position coaches. Lovie's main problem is he has done a lousy job of evaluating those he has brought in to fill those positions. In the past those choices have been left up totally for Lovie to make. It seems like JA has decided it is time for him to help in that process. Hopefully we get it right this time around.
  13. There are some interesting details on the Tribune site in this article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3129808.story I like the list of OCs he has been tutored by. I have to believe this means he will utilize G Olsen and will help him develop. That would be refreshing as I never felt Turner was able to do this.
  14. WoW, after reading what Marty had to say about Chud, how could you not like him as our OC? Not to show my stupidity, what type of offense do you think he would run here? Hopefully West Coast as this is what Cutler is experienced in and the transition of OCers would be smoother.

  16. .... Or all given extensions after we win the Super Bowl, LOL.
  17. But now I am worried, OMG, does it matter if we hire the OC first or do we need to hire the DC first or do we need to hire all the position coaches first or or or????
  18. I can't believe we are still dissing Lovie over his hiring of some position coaches before his coordinators. It is not unprecedented. It is not that big a deal, IMO. Fun to diss Lovie I guess? Gee, did everyone know Lovie is right handed but when he dresses he ties his left shoe first and and and it is reported by some of the "Beat=off" writers who dig deep for info to smear Lovie with that he he he wipes his ass with his left hand? Guess this proves Lovie is a schizo and can not be trusted.
  19. Heck, in Dallas they hired the OC before they hired the HC, ;-) They at least made it to the playoffs and won their first game against PHI before losing to MIN
  20. Nothing has yet to be finalized, I guess. I think I have made my decision, I am going to withdraw from the league and will not participate in it next year. Payouts, keeper rules, draft order for subsequent years, etc... all of this should have been decided before the leagues first draft. Payouts should have already been made. Do not get me wrong. DrunkBomber is a stand up guy and I am sure that he will get it all worked out eventually. I am just a guy that likes a bit more of an organized adventure, LOL. Best of luck to all of you who continue the league. I am sure you will have no trouble in replacing me in the league. It was fun and I appreciate DrunkBomber's time in running the contest.

  22. Jeff is one great guy. He and I have not exchanged emails for quite some time. I last heard from him just before the move to TalkBears. I was trying to encourage him to come back and reassume his rightful role as DaWebmaster. He told me personal family issues, work, & Church were all he could handle at that time. I agree, I miss him as well as many of the old posters that failed to migrate to the new forum.
  23. Yes, Turner did indeed recommend Heisted and Lovie took his advice and we got a terrible OL coach as a result. Maybe that is why he decided to make some of the position coach decisions on his own this time?
