When you get to the 6th and 7th round the chances of them even making the team is huge. Sure, it happens, but the chances??? I was surprised by the QB pick but if they felt that he was the highest graded player on the board at the time, why not give it a roll? I liked the first 3 picks. I am hopeful that the OL with Tice as the OL Coach and the emergence of Chris Williams allowing other players to return to their better positions will allow our OL to be much improved. Also remember, once the draft is over, the Bears and other teams will be looking at not only a lot of undrafted free agents but will be looking to fill any remaining questions on their rosters with FAs that remain out on the market. I also suspect there will be more players that become available this summer.

Scheffler, Burleson, and CJ have all three been injury prone. If they are all healthy and on the field together they may see an upgrade, but that is a BIG IF.
-
He was asked to block in passing situations 152 times, led the league in this category. Just as a defense can not be expected to rate high if on the field 65% of the clock, a teams DBs cannot be expected to have good stats if there is no pass rush and they have to cover their man for 5 seconds, now you have Forte with that many reps as a blocker in the backfield, I do not think Forte did that bad a job.
-
Not so sure about that. Quinn has a much stronger arm and can take advantage of the speed of Royal who disappeared with Orton at QB. It could be very interesting to see what happens.

Want to relocate? I will trade you homes! LOL (I live in IL next to the WI line )

From an article on the Bears Official Website giving Q&A with MM :
-
Yep, it sucked, and although I enjoyed seeing them again, and I am sure they got paid well for doing it, it was indeed an embarrassment IMO for a Bears fan to watch.
-
He has not done anything since? It has been well documented here on the forum how he improved the offense everywhere he has been since STL. I do not feel like repeating what already has been said. Maybe this team presented on a silver platter in STL would have been the greatest team stuck in mud if he hadn't been the OC?
-
So from what you are saying the OC is useless baggage, if given the right personnel, it will click and be successful no matter who the OC is. No need to develop that talent. No need to develop a playbook, teach it, implement it, call plays during the game, make game time adjustments, etc... Hell, from what you are saying they could have brought in Lovie's son as OC in STL and they would have done just as good, would have still been the "greatest show on turf" because he would have had it handed to him on a silver platter. Hogwash!
-
To bring in a WR he had better be YOUNG and DAMN GOOD or otherwise, forget it, I do not want to cut back on playing time for DA, Knox, or Bennett. Hester I like but if he truly wants to concentrate more on returning KOs & Punts, then so be it. Then we still have to see what Iglasis has to offer.
-
What would scare me is Matt Millen coming to Chicago. He is the reason behind the colapse of the Lions, THANKS MATT!

Look, Lovie, Martz, Tice, Marinelli, Angelo, etc... They are all going to fight like hell to keep their jobs, they do not want to be seeking other positions next year. I do not know if they will be successful in righting the ship or not but I can guarantee you they will do the best damn job they can. Now are they capable of the job? I honestly do not know. It is not all on them. The players have to remain healthy and perform up to their abilities also. The only thing we can do is sit back and see what happens. I stongly expect for some new players to be brought in via FA. We have done so in the past. With what would appear to be an uncapped year I believe if a player becomes available that will help turn things around we will go after him. I do not believe it will be on the O unless an OL comes free that would work for us. I think most of the players brought in will be on D. I am certainly not entertaining the idea of going and becoming a Bronco or Charger fan. That really pisses me off when posters say they should go and be a fan of another team because the Bears are not making the moves they want them to do. GO, by all means, GO, and when the Bears are back on top again, I am sure you will return. Ride that Bandwagon. I could give a shit. I am anxious now for FA to start and see what happens. Then the draft. Then the preseason camps and games. Then once the season starts and we see what kind of product we have on the field, then I will make judgement on the offseason moves. It is way too early to make an evaluation of our offseason at this point.

Interesting Article about the evolution of the cover 2 in INDY as I would expect this would influence Williams if he were hired as our DC. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,1482834.story
-
I agree. I expect a top 10 offense. I also think our defense will be greatly improved.

http://www.49ers.com/team/coaches/shane-da...87-4943112ef4c4 I do not see anything to be excited about but hey, QB coach, ???? I can only assume Martz knows him from SF and thinks he can do the job, if indeed that is who we hire. My guess is Martz will in effect be the QB coach and whoever is hired in that position will be just around to shine Cutlers shoes and fetch gatorade.

Devin A is going to be our #1, bash me for all you want, I am thick skinned, but I honestly believe, as long as he stays healthy (even during the preseason when they need to learn this new system), Devin A will put up big numbers this year, #1 numbers, with Knox, Bennett, & Hester getting good stats as well. This is going to be fun to watch!
-
Wouldn't that be of a question about Tice instead of Martz? I am pretty sure, from what I have seen, Tice has them fire out, old school smash mouth football. None of this pansy step in the bucket routine, not the "zone" blocking routine, just plain and simple get in your face and get ugly. I sure hope I am right because that is the way I played OT when I was a young'n and that is what I would like to see happen. Slobberknocker football. Pancakes anyone???

That is why I like Kampman more, he does not take off and disappear like Peppers.
-
I consider a "short" pass to a RB out of the backfield or in the flat the same as a running play. It is just a "looooonger" handoff, LOL.
-
In the beginning of the season it was widely reported that several GBP D players were not thrilled with their new roles in the 3-4 and Kampman was the most vocal. As the season progressed he became less "public" but I have to believe if he could go to a 4-3 that would utilize his strengths better he would be a happy camper.

Recently I have seen an increase in the number of posters who are copying large amounts of text from articles found on the net. It is important to remember there are copyright laws that if violated could cause the owners of the forum major legal problems or possibly having the forum shut down. When you want to copy a significant amount of text from an article please do two things: 1 - Put the text in quotes. In the tools given above the area you will see an option to add a quote, looks like a word balloon from a comic book, 2nd from the right. Click on it and paste the text between the two bracketed codes seen inserted into your post. (If you do not want to use that tool at least put the copied text you are pasting in a different color or font so the reader knows what section is from a copyrighted article). 2 - It is also very important to copy the link to the article and include it in the post. You can simply copy the URL and paste it or use the link tool (looks like a green arrow with a + sign) to add the link. If you are going to just quote one line from an article, no big deal. If you are going to quote one small paragraph, just make sure you say where it came from. BUT, IF YOU COPY A LARGER SECTION, OR THE ENTIRE ARTICLE, PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES I MENTIONED ABOVE. I can not stress how important this is. We do not want to lose another forum and have to search for another home.

Although I like Pepper, I like Kampman even better. He does not fit into their new 3-4 as well as they had hoped. He would fit right in with our scheme. With him in a 4-3 we would have what we want in a DE to pressure the QB.
-
LOL, I can only hope
-
.........or throwing for 4500 yds, 40 TDs and 5 INTs
-
Shoop, you have to be joking? Look at it this way, our offense is going to be kick ass and we will win our division (which is what we all want) OR we will flop again and we will get a new HC (which is what most of us want).
