  1. Starting this week we will be having Thursday Night Games on NFL Network. I will be putting up the Picksheets asap, usually on Tuesday evenings after I get home from work. If you want to select the Thursday night game you will need to submit a COMPLETE picksheet prior to the start of the Thursday night game. I realize this does not give you time to think over the remaining games but do not worry. After the Thursday night game is over, you will be able to resubmit a new picksheet before the start of the 1st game on Sunday to change any selections you want to adjust. If you resubmit a new picksheet after the Thursday night game, or if you choose not to select the Thursday night game and select the remaining games later in the week, you have to submit a COMPLETE picksheet. The Thursday night game will be ignored by the program I use to enter your selections once I enter the score of the Thursday night game. If you have any concerns or questions about this, please let me know before this new set of procedures go into effect with the Thursday night games coming into play. Thanks.
  2. As was said on the Score show earlier today, it would probably have been more classy of Rex to have given the ball to an OL, i.e., Olin, or to Forte, to spike. It would have shown some camaraderie and leadership on his part. However, no big deal.
  3. You know what is really scary? We hear that Kyle will be out 4+ weeks. No one knows for sure. High ankle sprains are tricky. Rex has had some injury problems in the past, fortunately not recently. However, we are one fluke injury away from having Caleb Hanie as our starting QB with no backup unless we go out and sign a free agent.
  4. Your ranting and bitching, i.e. your constant criticism of Orton no matter what he accomplished, may not have been a verbalization that Orton could hear, but anyone reading your posts on the forum when it came to the topic of Kyle Orton sure heard the Boos loud and clear. I failed to see you throwing your support behind Orton. Would I ever boo a Bears player while attending a game at the stadium? Hell no, never. Do I feel it is the right of any fan attending the game to do so if they feel upset over the players performance, yes I do. I have heard many players say it is the fan's right to do so as well. If a player let's that sort of thing bother them, they need to consider a different profession. It comes with the territory.
  5. Man, I am getting pumped up after reading this. Excellent Job Noots. I hope you can write a glowing review after the game has been played. We need to come out strong after the bye. Next week's game against the Titans is going to be the toughest game we will have this year. I want to see us on a roll.
  6. Dear Pool Member, Week 9 Pick'em sheets are ready. Please enter your picks before the deadline! Good luck in the games! http://www.talkbears.com/Contests/index.htm. Thank you, Pixote
  7. Bush is kick butt in leagues that give RBs receiving yards AND point per reception. If your league scores this way, I say definately yes, he would be a big plus for you in the playoffs. Now this is assuming you are confident you will be ok over the next few weeks while waiting for his return. You certainly seem fine atr WR.
  8. Congratulations to BearFan2000 who wins Week 8 with 10 wins, and to Gakman23 who places 2nd with 9 correct selections! Great job guys!
  9. One site I visit has some large spreads for week 9. None of these are official, however, take a look at this: I see CHI 13 point favorites over DET I see TBB 8.5 point favorites over KCC I see NYG 8.5 point favorites over DAL I see JAX 7.5 point favorites over CIN I see PHI 7.0 point favorites over SEA I see BUF 5.5 point favorites over NYJ I see TEN 5.0 point favorites over GBP I see IND 5.0 point favorites over NEP I see MIN 4.5 point favorites over HOU That makes 9 of the 14 games with more than a field goal spread. This is going to be an incredibly difficult week for Pick'ems.
  10. Yes, it does make it difficult when one plays in more than one pick'em pool. I play in two other pick'em pools with a lot of side pools involved. To try and make it a little more sane I usually use the spreads posted by one of the two "$$$" pools I am in for this pool, so that I have 2 different sets of lines to cope with instead of 3. Last week the two "$$$" pools had 6 different games where the spreads were different, usually plus or minus 1 point. Tough to keep track of it all.
  11. Just got around to uploading the first batch of 16 different contest participants. Yours was received and was uploaded in the first run I just finished.
  12. There are teams out there desperate for QB help, I wonder if there would be a market for him now. I know it would be a bold move as it would leave us with a rookie at #2 and we would have to bring in a #3, I also would admit the chances of this happening is about as good as me retiring next week, (sigh) but I would think he would be interesting in NE throwing the deep ball to Moss or in DET tossing the ball to C Johnson. Even SF is experiencing a revolving door at starting QB. He would not garner much, but I would like to get something in return for him and I do not see him being resigned at the end of the year unless things fall apart in the Orton camp.
  13. The new picksheet for week 8 is ready. Please enter your picks before the start of the 1st game on Sunday. http://www.talkbears.com/Contests/index.htm Thanks and good luck! I am out for blood this week John - Pixote
  14. Iguana - congratulations! You are the week 7 Pick'ems Guru! Jarrettsmama ties with 9 wins but loses the tie breaker! Great Job!!
  15. Man that sucks. I was so happy to see him finally get a shot and he did quite good. Then he gets ko'ed in his first game. Dumb luck. Hope he returns and continues to develop. I liked JA drafting him, was disappointed to see him cut, happy to see him resigned to the practice squad, was curious how he would do when given a chance in week 7, and was excited to see him in action. Now he get's injured. Did I say this really sucks? Yes, I guess I did.
  16. This is the ay I see it breaking down: Chicago: Currently 4-3 Week 8: Bye Week 9: DET – W – There is no way we lose this one Week 10: TEN – L – I hope I am wrong here but they are looking mighty good Week 11: @GBP – L – Assuming Rogers is healthy at GB I see a loss Week 12: @STL – W – I see no problems here as long as we contain Jackson Week 13: @MIN – W – If we can beat them with no starting DBs healthy, we can do it again Week 14: JAX – W – Jacksonville is on the slide Week 15: NOS – W – At home I feel we can take them – they have NO defense Week 16: GBP – W – Crucial game that gives us the lead in our division Week 17: @HOU – W – We will finish the season strong with a win here Chicago final total – 11-5 Green Bay: Currently 4-3 Week 8: Bye Week 9: @TEN – L – I think on the road at TEN will be a loss for GB Week 10: @MIN – W – MIN will never take them if Rogers is healthy Week 11: CHI – W – At home I think they will have the advantage over CHI Week 12: @ NOS – L – A slugfest – Bush should be back – NOS edges it out Week 13: CAR – W – At home they will take down the Panthers Week 14: HOU – W – I see no problem with them beating HOU in GB Week 15: @JAX – W – Again, JAX is playing bad at this point Week 16: @CHI – L – We will take them down with home field advantage Week 17: DET – W – No explanation needed Green Bay final total – 10-6 Minnesota: Currently 3-4 Week 8: Bye Week 9: HOU – W – I think they will edge this one out Week 10: GBP – L – GBP have too much offense for MIN to handle Week 11: @TBB – L – They will struggle against one of the better defenses Week 12: @JAX – W – You can tell I do not care much for JAX this year Week 13: CHI – L – Again, if we can best them minus 3 starting DBs, nuff said Week 14: @DET – W – No explanation necessary Week 15: @ARI – L – Arizona torches their secondary Week 16: ATL – W – Not a given but I assume they will do fine against ATL Week 17: NYG – L – Not a chance in hell they take the Giants Minnesota final total – 7-9 Detroit is currently 0-6 having already having their bye week and things are looking BAD for them. They play Was, @CHI, JAX, @CAR, TBB, TEN, MIN, @IND, NOS, & @GBP. It is hard for a team to go 0-16 as it is for a team to go 16-0 (well, almost) so I have to believe they will win one somewhere, so since I have been picking on JAX in this post, why not continue. I predict they will squeak out a game with JAX and wind up 1 – 15 for the season.
  17. It has been a long time (if ever) I have seen Turner's name as a Kudo (game ball) candidate. If our defense can step it up, and I think they will if Vasher & Tillman return healthy in week 9, then the sky is the limit for this team. I am looking forward to seeing the Bears with their "new" offense. I think this off season we will see a WR pickup to deepen our lineup. Now that we have a QB that can be effective, it is time to add some weapons for him to use. Before I feel it would be like buying shoes for a double amputee. Now I see it as a necessity.
  18. LOL, he threw 3 INTs. I am not sure his other stats but hey, good luck! (not)
  19. Thankfully we have a bye week next week and can give our secondary a chance to get healthy. It was a great game! We were so thin at the CB position I am amazed we came up with three INTs and kept this game in the win column.
  20. Fantastic! Congratulations! I know it has been asked before but I do not remember reading an answer, what did you name your son? Best wishes to you and your family!
  21. And what is your third option? LOL - Tough Matchups. I would probably roll the dice with Anderson. I know he has only had one good game (against NYG) but would you want to be the next QB to go up against a pissed off NYG defense? I would take my chance against the Skins. After all, STL did ok against them. OH, they might be pissed off also, LOL. I still would go with Anderson.
  22. Congratulations to flea, winner of week 6. He edges out staley - both had 10 wins but flea had the tie-breaker! Great job guys! A tough week for sure.
  23. I continue to be impressed with our ability to stop the running game of our opponents. We are actually 5th in the NFL in rushing defense. However, we are 27th in the league in Passing Defense. So we definitely have a problem that needs to be addressed. We are currently rated 12th in total defense, but we should be much higher if it were not for our pass defense. On Offense we are actually rated 13th in the league. I do not think any of us felt we would be ranked that high at this point. I certainly did not.
  24. I would hope we would win the turnover battle easily. If we do, and we stop Turner, we will win easily. I honestly think we win this one 30 to 17.
