  1. If Robinson is back (and he should be) it will be Robinson, Miller, Wims, Ridely and Cohen in the slot. There is room for another WR there, and every team can use a burner, but with our issues on OL and at TE, I dont see us investing a lot of capital on WR this year. Even if they choose to replace Robinson's big contract, then I don't see them looking to a rookie to fill that role, so it would be a downgrade via Free Agency at WR to gain cap room to sign OL and TE. And I dont see the letting Robinson go. So yes, Gabriel is gone, but he wasn't a huge part of the offense anyway and it wont be a top pick that replaces him in my opinion.
  2. AHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU FOUND IT!
  3. no I mean it. In the post, I reached new levels of intellectualism never before seen on the planet. And it got erased, and I forgot it all.
  4. I wrote the most brilliant thing I'd ever written. Seriously, if you read it you guys would realize I know so much more about football and life than anyone here - it was pulitzer prize winning stuff. It was full of amazing points that were as much about the secret to life as football. But it got deleted. And I dont remember any of it anymore.
  5. in a game where they ran more than usual.
  6. Hey Mr. 7 running attempts: The 49ers are going to the super bowl, and have only throewn the ball 6 times with 12:50 left int he 4th quarter. 34 points too. RUN. THE. BALL. I mean sure, have your high tech offense too but RUN. THE. BALL. NAGY!
  7. I dont think the NFL fixes games for any reason. Bad calls happen, but there is no overarching strategy to work for or against any team by the league.
  8. tell ya what, you take 2 and under, and Ill take 3 and over! That's probably right on the line anyway, so it's a fair bet.
  9. we heard the same sunk costs argument about Parkey. Theyd have to bring him back because theyre paying him. But the money is already spent. You cant get it back. So the question is Leno or someone else? I believe they will have several new starters on the OL this coming year, no matter what the contract situations are.
  10. you know what? scratch that. Im not even really making that argument. I'm just saying Montgomery has the skill set to excel at what you ask a running back to do.
  11. do those rushing rankings still hold up in yards per carry? Because I think those are total rushing yards, which doesnt really tell the story of complimentary football as you suggested, and I just clarified above.
  12. Oh I'm not saying to never pass. I'm saying the consistent 4 or 5 yard running play is the most dangerous play in football, not the long pass. And so, the role of the running back isnt to get 80 yard runs, but to move the chains and force the defense to have to move toward the ball, which opens up the passing game and complimentary football like you said. And therefore, Montgomery is great, and we dont need to replace him with a "home run hitter" - lord knows Walter Payton wasn't one. But he was the best back ever. Jim Brown too.
  13. Oops! Sorry! I'm just so disgusted by it I guess I'm seeing things that arent there. And I totally agree the WRs are fine, and TE is a huge need. Carry on!
  14. What I saw was a staff that all agreed not to call any power running plays. They were busy pulling people for trap blocks all the time, and no one knew who to block, or how to block. It was remarkably consistent in it's stinkiness.
  15. I think Montgomery is a really great back. It's not necessary for a RB to be a home run hitter. Payton surely wasnt. Put it this way, if you can get 4 yards per carry every single time without fail, your team cannot lose, and you will be the most dominant offense in football even if you never do anything else but hand the ball to that RB. A 10 minute 15 play drive ending in a touchdown is MUCH more dangerous than a long 80 yard touchdown pass. RB is a strength on this team. If you want to augment the running game (and yes we should really want that!!) then the Bears need these things: 1) an actual run blocking offensive line 2) a coach that will call the run, and the right run, and often 3) an effective passing game to stretch the defense, and keep safeties out of the box The running back is the only part of the equation we already have. If the Bears do a decent job of some of these things, and we will all be buying Montgomery jerseys.
  16. No way Leno is our starting LOT next year. No way. I dont care what they are paying him. We will have someone else at that position. If not, they need to fire everyone immediately, from Pace on down. That guy has no business playing another down for the Bears.
  17. I hear ya. I'd be OK with keeping Floyd at a lower price as a backup, but if they have the money or picks to replace him with someone with a better upside, that'd be great too.
  18. Bingo. Someone understands the idea of sunk costs. There should be ZERO chance that Leno plays another snap for us period. Any coach that thinks he needs another chance should be fired immediately. Hopefully there are no coaches on the Bears that think that. Leno is bad at football.
  19. they only reason they arent being fired right now is the money remaining on their contracts. next year they are clearly on the hot seat if they dont prove something on the field.
  20. If this turns out to be true of our roster - how likely do you think Nagy is to abandon the RPO? I think the odds he can meaningfully change are very low.
  21. Great article, but I think that if you assume that both current OTs will be starting again next year, youre making a mistake. I know that's how the cap looks now, but I think we will see a lot more new blood on the OL than common wisdom projects. I had the same discussion here two years ago about the wide receiver squad. I think they cut Leno. I really do.
