What about having Lovie call defensive plays?
Connorbear replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
Well, something needs to be done. It's like Groundhog Day out there every week. You can tell the players are getting frustrated. If he hasn't done so already, he better start. Peace -
Agreed. I was not very happy with Lance in the offseason when he skipped some workouts but he has played his arse off. Without a doubt he is our best defensive player. Peace
-
Exactly. It was better to cut our losses when we did. For whatever reason, he was not working out here. Peace
-
Exactly - trying to light a fire under Anderson. I also read in the Suntimes that KC was trying to pry him away from our practice squad. Peace
-
4. Zombie Smith's time is over. I've been all over him for a while, but it's painfully obvious his team is losing respect for him. Smith should coach the rest of the season, and if we get more of the same, he should be fired. But, again, in reality world, and given his contract, he'll be given yet one more season to continue to stay the course and look for one dim flicker amoung a thousand points of light. He's good enough and has good enough talent to keep retaining a job like Wayne Fontes did for so many years in Detoit. Yep, that's what we have folks. Wayne Fontes. Good enough to keep a job, not good enough to do much else. I know you don't like Lovie but Wayne Fontes??? How many playoff games did Wayne Fontes win? Answer: 1 (he was 1-4). Did he ever go to the SB? Answer: No Pick another example. Peace

I agree to an extent. But if someone asks a follow up question as to why the players are not executing or what can the coaches do to help I am fairly sure based on prior interviews that he would say something about we need to prepare our players better, etc... Again, its a press conference (one given by our Lovie). What did you expect. Peace
-
Wow, I'm your pal. Isn't that great!!!! Do I get a gold star Near the bottom of my post I said: "I have heard several interviews with him before where he has said that "we need to execute better" and he usually says that "starts with me as the head coach". So in many, many previous interviews I have listened to he has pointed the finger at the entire team (coaches, players, etc). I don't see this as any different. Peace
-
Agreed 100%. Get a TD on his arse and then let him know about it. Peace
-
Please take no offense but in all seriousness, I am really, really glad I don't work for any of you. I know how much we all love this game and this team but the over-reaction to some of the statements that come out of press conferences simply amazes me. This is just a press conference. We all need to relax. Peace
-
I just listened to the press conference on the Bears site and no where did he say players need to execute. When asked about changing the scheme he said, and I'm paraphrasing: The scheme is good. We just need to execute better. I have heard several interviews with him before where he has said that "we need to execute better" and he usually says that "starts with me as the head coach". Unless I missed part of the interview, I didn't hear him throwing the players under the bus. Is he stubborn? Hell yes. Does he need to make changes? Hell yes. However, I don't believe he was saying the players are the sole issue. The team as a whole (coaches, players, etc) need to execute. Peace

Is this really what we need to talk about? I would much rather worry about the fact we lost the game and why. The fact that someone didn't get Finnegan had nothing to do with the fact we lost. Peace
-
It's not hate pointing out a players deficiencies. Rex did not play good enough to help the team win. If he starts next week, he has to play a hell of alot better. Peace
-
I can't believe Turner hasn't said something to him. He coached him in college for crying out loud. Lloyd is costing himself a crap load of money in the offseason. Peace
-
If he was listed as probable and practiced all week, then he should have played. Maybe the comments from Drake earlier this week that he did not want to discuss Lloyd until he plays is a sign that he is in the doghouse. Peace
-
Jo Jo does have a rocket for an arm. However, I have heard he is not a team player. Peace
-
I don't think he hits Hester on the bomb but he does hit Davis on the crossing pattern and sideline pass. Plus, he doesn't throw into double coverage and get the int. Peace
-
So, you think Caleb Hanie is going to beat GB in GB????? No way, no how should he play unless both Kyle and Rex cannot. Rex has beaten GB in GB. Peace
-
Cost everyone on the team a SB ring???? You must have been watching the SB on a different channel. What I saw: - The defense didn't stop the run. - Turner gave up on the run for no reason. - No pressure on Manning. - Manning blowing an assignment and costing us 7. - Moose standing next to a db who just intercepted the ball and, instead of pushing him out of bounds, let him run free to an eventual TD. - Rex throwing 2 ints and fumbling a snap. Yeah, he was part of the problem. But he wasn't the reason we lost the SB. That's why it a team sport becuase it was a team loss. Today, he looked lost at times. his accuracy was off and he does not read the field like Kyle. He made an outstanding pass to Forte for a TD but also missed Davis twice and Hester for a TD. He will be gone from the team at the end of the yr. Peace
-
Unfortunately, you have to stick with Rex. He has 31 games under his belt. We simply need him to play better. No need to worry though. Kyle will start this week - book it. Peace
-
You know, what is the point to this thread? I am the last person to want to stand up for Bears88, but really let it go. If you don't like reading his posts, simply do not going forward. Everyone needs to grow up. Peace

They spent an incredible amount of money this off season resigning their own which has been their pattern: - Briggs - Url - Harris - Hester - Grossman - Orton - Clark - A Brown - Davis Recently (last 5 yrs), they have been leaving approximately 3 million in cap going into the season to sign emergency players. Not sure why Angelo held the money this yr but he found a way to get the money credited to next yr so he should be complimented for that. Peace Peace
-
The article clearly states we will be getting a cap credit of $10 million next yr since these goals are not achievable. No issue here. Peace
-
Let's hope its good Rex. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bear08.article Peace

It's about time someone on the defense said something. Here is the most important part of article: Face it: If the Bears can't turn it on soon, they're not going to this season. Eventually, you are what you are, and talking about the way the defense played en route to Super Bowl XLI, or how it performed in 2005, is just that -- talk. Peace
