I want to know why Donovan Jackson isn't in the conversation for LT. 36" arms, played the position lights out the last portion of the championship season. He is my sleeper.
-
This class is pretty deep at RB. I'd be happy with either Ohio State kid preferably rd 3.
-
I haven't looked into him, but he seems to pop on simulations in the 7th. If the brass feels he has the tools to be great, go for it. If Campbell, Banks, or Simmons are seen that way, I'm fine with that too. We have lucked into Leno and Jones who were not bad, but not great. I just want the Bears to take the lines serious and realize how it elevates teams into long term winning.

Aireonte would be a blue collared player. His arms are all in the same grouping as the rest. The only guys w longer arms are late rounders Jalen Rivers from Miami and a kid from William and Mary or some small college. Regardless of which route they go, arm length will be in that 33" range. Just get the guy who has held up the best against nfl type competition.

LT should be in consideration every year until you nail it. Most can play another position on the line unlike a QB. Glad we have that position finally nailed. Now the Bears need to get LT and DE right. There not much in this draft for those either that fit, so the work is cut out. It would be a miracle if Poles can find a trade partner that nets a potential high 1st next year while moving down 15 spots. Like a trade in the division, like Minny, we get pick and 24 and their 2026 1st. The finish last in the division and we could be picking around 8 next year.

I listen for their Bears talk too. My all time favorites were Lawrence Holmes and Zach Zaidman. I enjoyed Spiegel and Holmes especially when Jaylon Johnson is on. Wanny and Kreutz are prime listens. The only time I sour is when I stop hearing about sports or when they cut callers down as if only one opinion matters

Campbell is a grinder, leader etc that excelled by his attitude. That is one reason I like him. He would fill a spot, hopefully at LT but worst case inside. LSU turns out players and not saying he will or won't turn, but last year I was good with Jayden Daniel's and WR Brian Thomas Jr. Many of these players we are looking at might not even play much year one because we are sitting on a roster that is near filled. We can draft to replace and maintain the cap and let the player grow and earn jobs instead of handing them out Simmons doesn't have much more body size wise and recovering from a torn petallar tendon, which is a 6-12 month recovery for normal people. He will have to be evaluated by his game tape. If you find time, I probably won't, but he is called out for being a catcher. He has technique and athletic ability. Kevin Banks was gone and if it was between him or Campbell, I'd be torn to choose. Banks seems to have that better chance to be a long term LT.

One take, using#1 ..just now. I regret not getting an Edge, but couldn't pass S ranked 21st best player available. Emmanwori might be the next Polomalu. Will Campbell might be a guard for us, but get him up to speed at LT and worst case he replaces Thuney next year. Ty Williams fills a needed NT depth position that he could surpass Billings at sooner rather than later. Judkins has low miles and can be a bell cow as he thrives at attacking gaps. Johnsons offense run scheme attacks gaps, so he seems perfect. TE, Mitch Evans has untapped potential that his best days are ahead of him. The last pick I made was a S because I forgot I got the best SS already and I skipped the last pick because the site doesn't let me save the draft without giving my email. Using #2 next...

I used those seeds and got dream drafts. Must be your algorithm. But I am also pleased to see Campbell or Banks as options. I fear Jentry right now as he shows alot . Have to compare his grades to other RBs the past 5 years. If he beats them, then maybe.

The Score has really fallin off. They lost the Bears to AM1000, the Cubs to their own broadcast, and are down to the Bulls. Have they figured it out to why, I doubt it. People of different views, race, education like to tune into sports to escape and not hear how smart they are or how their political views are better. Berstein was all about cancel culture, well I am happy Karma knocked his ass of his pedestal. He brought it on himself. I wish him the best but not in a public forum.

Makes me think Thuney is on the one year deal. The same they did for Keenan Allen. 4th round pick, pay his salary and gone. I guess if he plays all pro, they can tag him if they have the cap.

Donovan Jackson moved to LT for 9 games 6-4 , 315 33-1/2 arms Josh Simmons 6-5 317. 33" arms Simmons has better feet but is known to "catch" a bull rusher. Coming off an injury worries me, but he was improving game to game until he that. Jackson must be a no fit for LT even though he played there when needed and did so pretty well. Just using the arm length metric, you have to wonder how much makes a difference. Especially when Will Campbell's arms measure .375" shorter than Simmons, but he measures 6'6" an inch taller overall. Just break Campbell's arms and set them with a gap to get them longer 😜

Bears looking for one more wideout in free agency…
ASHKUM BEAR replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
It's a one year contract, most likely in the vet minimum range. This shouldn't hurt if he doesn't make the team. Its a position of need for a trust worthy returner. DeAndre Carter signs a 1 year deal with the Browns, so look at it as his replacement. -
I started a spreadsheet categorizing measurements and times from the combine. Going to sort by arm length since that seems to be the key. Surprising, the 15-20 guys I have listed, so far, there are guards with size and arms better than tackles. To think a half inch or less means so much is troubling too when comparing. I want to find the happy medium of size and skill.

Not sure I'd like to take him 39 or 41, but somewhere later in the 2nd would fit. Maybe trade down is an option too in 2nd. -

My newest RB flavor of the month is Quinshon Judkins. I think the Bears will need to trade back into the 2nd to get him. -
Trade down and Emika Egbuka or Luther Burden would make a dynamic playmaker out of the slot. I would rather take TE Warren than Tet to be honest.
-
How did I miss Burch... he is one of my favorites. Gillotte is no sleeper either.
-
James Pierce is probably too light. I hope they don't go Shemar Stewart 6-5 270. Mykel Wiiliams 6-5 260 is a maybe. Round 2 seems best to get a DE. They fit the profile Poles and Allen being 6-5 260 as a benchmark. Landon Jackson, JT Tuimotoau. Rd3 Jared Ivey, Sau'von Jones, Tyler Batty. ,

Gordan might want to hold off on extending, the talk is he will be used in ways like the honey badger and a huge part of the d. Kenneth Grant, Alfred Collins, Tyler Williams, Deone Walker are all NT/DT that I would love to see added to rotate with Billings. Rd 2 looks like we can take that player. Brisker sure talks like he plans to stay and Byard was a nice veteran to have around, but the Bears need to prepare to have insurance for both. I can see round 3 to get a Brisker replacement and the prospect may be from Penn St. I feel we can get a LB late. Guys like Sanborn should be a dime a dozen. What position can the Bears get by without drafting? RB, WR, or TE
-
Banks measured longer at the combine 6-5 instead of 6-4, 33" arms, the 3rd widest wingspan. He might be LT #1 now. Simmons doesn't measure as great as we envision, only has 33" arms as well. Stromberg is the back up Center. If they keep Bates, he can be slotted there too. The back up depth at G is not great, so Banks, Kiran, and Jones would give depth at G if needed. Air Ersery LT, like I said is also a great option if Poles thinks he will last until we pick rd 2.
-
I laughed at that draft. If your team is deep, you might be able to sneak a RB in early. They double dipped taking RB and LB in rd 1 that year. It is why I don't want to see the Bears draft Jentry as intriguing as it may be. Round 2, maybe but we could be passing up an Edge, DT, or Oline. Poles has to be smart but also find some offensive playmakers. The window seems open, but it takes a lot of gelling to happen quick to see it this year.
-
Kiran might be the guy. He has to earn it and it will take a lot of hard work, but he has the tools. Braxton is returning from a season ending ankle injury that required surgery and entering his final year under contract. Will he have the strength and mobility regained by fall. We are a little over a month away and saying we are fine at the most important position other than QB is leaving a lot in the hands of hope. Poles said the LT spot is position they will have competition. Kiran was already competition, so I see them bringing in another piece to give them 4 or 5 years of added stability. Every prospect in the draft class also projects as a G, so taking a guy who can fit and compete there also fills the depth chart with a quality player that can play G if needed too. If the Bears take a round 1 or 2 LT, it's a great thing. Something they haven't done much the past 20 some years
-
I went with Membou because it is suggested that he can play LT. If Banks was an option, I would go there. WR- Luther Burden would be great for slot and jet sweeps but would require a trade down. CB - I feel between Stevenson and Smith, they should be fine with a more aggressive pass rush that Allen will call. TE- I'm intrigued, but feel better outside of pick 10 if going there. Kmet is capable but wasn't a part of the game plan last year. RB- Jentry is a strong possibility because we know Johnson uses the run game to set up the pass.
