Mock Draft 1.0 post coaching hires. Used nflmockdraftdatabase.com for simulator, so players may not be slotted properly, as Watts and Moore will for sure go higher than rd 3 and 5. Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen get key players in 2025 draft. 1: Mason Graham DT 6-3 320 will be a cornerstone for Allen's D. He can play all techniques giving the Dline flexibility. Paired with Dexter 6-6 315, Billings 6-6 345, and Pickens 6-4 300, they will have a solid rotation. Ford 6-5 335 2a:Josh Conerly LT 6-4 315 Oregon - Johnson has seen Sewell, an Oregon product, dominate the RT and has no doubt that Conerly can do the same at LT for the Bears. Conerly will have competition with Jones and Amegadjie, but has faced stiffer competition at the college level to give him an edge. 2b:Omarion Hamilton RB 6-0 220 having a workhorse RB like Hamilton gives Johnson his dependable Montgomery. Swift can stay fresh being that homerun threat and change of pace. 3a: Xavier Watts S 6-0 203 - high IQ safety that lead the nation in Ints and is not afraid to tackle. Depending on Briskers future, the Bears need a solid piece to step in sooner than later. 3b: Jared Ivey DE 6-6 285 solid prospect to add to the rotation with Sweat, Booker, and Ware. High IQ and relentless motor and bend, he can quickly become a force on the front. 5a: Malachi Moore S 6-0 198 - the Bears double dip at the S position with another high IQ playmaker from Alabama. Moore can learn under Byard giving the Bears a strong DB core for years. 5b: Jay Higgins LB 6-2 232 a versatile LB that doesn't miss tackles, high IQ/field general, and plus coverage skills. The Bears need to look at life without Tremaine Edmonds who might get one more chance to shine. 5c: Jake Majors C 6-3 315 - iron man signal caller for Texas, Majors plays with nastiness and smarts and can become the Bears Jaosn Kelce. 6: Oronde Gadsden TE 6-5 236 a playmaking TE who can line across the field and give the Bears another big catch radius in the passing game. He will need to get stronger to help as a blocker, but gives Johnson a gadget to the arsenal. Jackson Hawes TE GT would be a guy you want as a great blocker only, which the Bears do need but can get in rd 7 or udfa. 7a: Tommie Hill CB 6-0 205 a 3 way player WR, CB, and KR. Hill is a high IQ football player who will find a niche on STs and can be a solid backup as a db. 7b: Luke Kandra G 6-4 323 road grading, high IQ lineman that for whatever reason was available on this draft site at pick 242.

Were/are the Lions good because of Campbell or Johnson? If they have his playbook and all the players know it, will they really be that worse? I know it's wishful thinking on our part, but until I see it, I am not assuming they will drop off.
-
Zabel was just mentioned on the score and a name I have not seen or heard before at C, so I am intrigued. Looks like a round 2 prospect. Would you take Campbell as LT/G round 1, DT/DE round 2a and Zabel 2b? Give Campbell a look at LT as he dominated college, but knowing his length is more ideal inside. Or trade down a little and take a risk on Josh Simmons LT from Ohio St. At D-line, I guess it depends on how they see Booker developing at DE. The defense dipped after Billings went down and a strong man next to Dexter is critical, so maybe Walker can develop.

My post was just reinforcing that keeping Flus might just be a blessing like you said. As Mongo mentioned, it had to be Harbaugh or nothing. What's with the pattern we are in. Keep Fields as QB1 over drafting CJ Stroud or Bryce Young then taking Caleb. Keep Flus over Harbaugh, then hiring Ben Johnson. We will find out in one or two years if Poles has his calculations right or not.
-
Glad to see the DC is official now. The next most important hire now is the Oline coach. We need a scheme that works.
-
Time will tell, but if Poles fired Eberflus last season, we wouldn't be here today with Ben Johnson. Eberflus had the Bears showing promise late last season and they thought firing Getsy and hiring Waldron would be the answer. Waldron help ressurect Geno Smiths career and I think he was hired to do the same for Justin Fields, who wasn't traded until March during St Paddy's weekend. The Bears haven't done draft evaluations yet, and there was a lot of garbage out on Caleb that needed cleared. If the Bears came through with this plan, maybe winning 7 to 9 games, we might be sitting here with the Fluster today. The collapse was a blessing as painful it was putting the Bears shirt on Sunday morning and ripping it off at night.

Other news: Ian Cunningham moving on to 2nd round with Titans

Cunningham interest is warming up again. I'd almost like to keep him one more year, but the late 3rd could be beneficial adding another player. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2025/1/24/24351256/report-chicago-bears-agm-ian-cunningham-a-candidate-for-jacksonville-jaguars-gm-job-nfl-2025 -
Campbell and Banks are slotted around 7-12 now, but both are project to be better at G. There are 2 guys slotted after them that are more LT but need some development in Air Erseray Min, and Josh Simmons OSU. That is why I think we need to move down. Get a true LT and if you want a G, draft Booker who should also be there middle of first.
-
It is intriguing, but 10 is too high. We drafted a RT at 10 that should be all pro, but took a sophmore slump. Stick to the premium positions or move down is my thought.
-
He came here because he is a Cubs fan....noooo. He enjoys rooting for lovable losers like we do.

I think the Bears surprise us and take a RB fairly early and this is a good class to do so. Today, as I look at possible players, I would prefer a trade down unless DT Graham is there or a top DE. Intrigued with Will Campbell OL, but feel he needs to slide inside and at 10, meh. The top tier is not deep, imo. But tier two goes well into round 2 and if they can move down to 15-20, gain a 2nd and build baby build. Rd1-15* trade: Austin Booker G, Josh Simmons LT, or Air Ersery LT Rd2-39: Prince Umanmeilen DE, or either Ohio St edges. Rd2-41: Wyatt Milim OT, Donovan Jackson G, Omarian Hampton RB Rd2-46* trade - Deone Walker DT, Kaleb Johnson RB Rd3-72 - Ollie Gordan RB, Cam Skattebo RB, Kevin Winston S I believe they will be more active in FA getting a couple major trench pieces while reinforcing through the draft. Blocking TE, Bell cow RB, and FB will be some key positions for Ben's scheme.

The Lion fans are furious and want tampering. They believe they lost because he was more concerned about his next job.
-
I said this at the end of last year and it was rejected since we didn't want to make a player learn another position they may not thrive at. He has the talent to play either side and being a top 10 pick, it's kind of a waste of the slot for a RT unless he's all pro. We have some bright new offensive minds coming in, so let's see how they think.

Is Kingsbury now a better option than Johnson?
ASHKUM BEAR replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
I think Daniel's biggest downfall is his size and running. If he was just a one read half field QB, WAS would not still be playing. I'll give him credit. I targeted him in the early draft process but was also for Caleb. I also targeted LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr., this was after watching an espn special on the team. -
Glad we got our guy and possibly the best available. Now get to work and help Poles/Cunningham identify the players they need to reinvent the NFL. I want to be as hated as the KC Chiefs.

Interesting Article and Stats DT Carter vs Dexter
ASHKUM BEAR replied to BearFan PHX's topic in Bearstalk
I like Wright, but a too 10 pick at RT needs to be great. So far above average. Another top 10 pick and the OT isn't any better, imo. -
Hate to say it, but Kingsbury wouldn't want the job. The Bears used him for Caleb insight and he read the cards and was not pleased.
-
That play had Thomas Browns Keenan Allens WR pass play all over it. I saw that one coming like deja vu.

Are you guessing or making a statement from a report? -

He has a bad taste in his mouth from the OC interview. He was used and knew it. He declined to comment after his I terview when asked how it went. -
You have to look at the whole picture. Every team will eventually die because it's set up that way with the CBA. New teams can flourish if they have a coach, QB, and the right talent to do so...Xetroit and Houston to name a couple. That is why there are windows like the Bears are in. We just need the right coach that can get the most out of the talent and can out coach the opponent. I am not sure which one would be best, but I was all for talking to Bellichik if Caleb is what they say he is, a coach who can only win w HOF talent. Now we have Johnson, McCarthy, and Carroll. They all have a different aspects to bring to the team to possibly win with. I have them listed in my order, but who am I...just a loyal fan.
-
Reid called the plays to start the season and handed it off to Nagy, who was technically the OC, and results we not much better. I

Did you happen to hear about the prank text Caleb got? Some young kids got his phone number some how and sent him a text saying this is Ben Johnson. Just want you to know I look forward to coaching you. Caleb responded with a heck yeah, go bears. They then face timed him laughing their asses.off saying go Raiders or dolphins. It sounds like these kids got him or he's a good sport

Cowboys might be wining and dining Deion Sanders as he was in Dallas tonight at the Mavericks game. You know Jerry sees marketing and a good up and coming coach in Sanders. That would clear a bidding partner for Johnson. I think our biggest bidder for Johnson is Detroit, especially if they get close but lose in the semis or superbowl. I'd still like to see the Bears bring Johnson in and court him like they did with Caleb to see if his heart would be open to coming here.
-
Give him some eye glasses and call him Andy Reid. My choice A, Ben Johnson may not leave Detroit and is unknown as a HC. McCarthy has been in the league for a long time and has coached Montana, Favre, Rodgers, and Zak to name a few. Either one i am cool with. One we might have growing pains and the other may only last 4-5 years. I'm okay with 4 or 5, because if Caleb is not top 5 and leading the Bears into playoffs by then it might be time to reconsider.
