"TWSS" The ultimate offensive draft if Cutler got his way: 1. Mike Evans WR 6'5" 225 Texas 2 Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE 6'6" 266 Washington
-
Emery said if they run a 3-4, you typically still have the 4th lineman (Shea) up on the line. This won't be last years defensive philosophy. Should be interesting come draft day, but I'm down to Donald, Dix, Pryor, or Gilbert/Dennard if the following are taken.
-
The Bears were one slot away from getting a comp, they were slotted at #33 and 32 picks are awarded.
-
I can go with Walters mock, I put a twist on the RD4 pick and added the 6th round picks. I am also predicting we sign a TE soon Owen Daniels ? 1 HaHa Clinton-Dix FS Alabama 2 Ego Fergusan DT LSU 3 Anthony Johnson DT LSU 4 Taylor Hart DE Oregon 5 Chris Sims RB W Virginia 6 Walt Aikens CB Liberty 6 James Morris ILB Iowa

Clemons would be nice. That would free up the draft to go DT or CB. We still need a swing Tackle, TE, RB, and I wouldn't mind the C from New Orleans. Hard to say, but we are back into the market whether I like the move or not. At least it was only 5 million.
-
The Bears already have restructured Jays contract. Converting 5 million to bonus last Friday. Wonder who we anticipate on signing?
-
Weems was asked to take a pay cut and it hasn't been determined what his decision was yet. He is probably shopping himself around. The Bears no longer have the luxury of paying 3 million or more for a specialist. It's sad to see him go, but sometimes you have to make tough decisions. Williams will get the first shot, and he can play WR if needed.
-
I thought I seen Orton is or soon will be available. Another name to consider...
-
How much do you think we still have? Last I seen was about 6.6 million. Our draft is projected to cost 5.5. We have 66 players signed, after the draft and un-signed FAs, we be around 80 which is where you want to be for training camp. We need to re-sign Britton next IMO. I don't want a low end draft pick to fill his role. He played a ton of snaps. Without back loading any current contracts, we don't have much money to add a 3-4 cap hit. We also need to hold onto 2-3million for injury settlements and replacement costs. If we hold tight with what we have, we will be big players next offseason If need to be. The key is not to reach big in the market and groom your own.

If we do sign someone like Jared Allen, I wouldn't be opposed, but we would be tapping into the Cutler money. Plus Allen has mentioned that if he don't get what he wants, he will retire. Too me that's not good locker room leadership. I really think we are done in FA except for filling depth. We need a swing OT, TE, and even a better backup QB IMO. We still have 30 some contracts to sign and only have enough money to sign our draft class and a little after that. I think we are going to wait until after the draft for any significant moves.

This will be ugly but using drafttek too: 1-Timmy Jernigan DT 2-Deone Buccannon SS 2-Kelcy Quarles DT 3-Jimmy Ward FS 3-Kadeem Carey RB 4-Joe Don Duncan TE 4-Taylor Hart DE 5-Walt Aikens CB 6-Aaron Murray QB 6-Gabe Ikard C It's unrealistic, but going off the same drafttek draft order I'd be ecstatic with this. ....if we don't trade down... 1. HaHa Clinton-Dix FS 2-Austin Seferian-Jenkins TE 6-6 3-Kelcy Quarles DT 4-Taylor Hart DE 5-Walt Aikens CB 6-Aaron Murray QB 6-Gabe Ikard C
-
I think this is one of the richest safety drafts in a long time. If we don't take Dix, I like Ward in RD 2-3. The biggest impact we need is at DT, I think we have to take Donald if he's even there. 1 Donald DT 2 Bucannon SS 3 Ward FS 4 Hart DE 5 Ellis DT 6 Aikens CB 6 Best TE
-
I have no issues with this. We live in a world that pushes vaccinations, flu shots, antibiotics to make money. I find it hard to believe my friends that work in the local hospital have lunch catered in everyday from these prescription companies.
-
Wootton replied to a tweet earlier, saying he doesn't think he will be back.
-
I hope he has his best year, goes out with a ring, and shows Sherman what class is.
-
I predicted we would re-sign Ratliff, Wootton, and Tillman. Waiting on Wootton now.... I think he is ready to take the next step. If Donald is not available, then maybe we go Jernigan/Nix. Tucker likes big d-linmen. Maybe we surprise the world and take TE too? I think we are sitting at 5-6million after Tillman. I heard the draft will take 5 million this year were we are slotted. Should quite down now up into the draft, unless we release Weems/Bennett or restructure Marshall.
-
Brings Donald back into the picture, and I would think S like Bucannon rd2, then if the big DT Ellis is availble for round 3.
-
I agree, right now LB is low on the need list with the addition of DJ. Until we see what style defense we will be running, I'd rather hold off.
-
Another tidbit on Willie Young: Coming out of the draft...at age 25, he is a high ceiling prospect taken in the 7th round. He has the height and athleticism to be versatile in systems, DE in a 4-3 or a OLB in a 3-4. He is intelligent, but may take a year or two to develop.
-
Who said Peppers or Allen would play for that amount, I think that's why they haven't signed anywhere yet. Plus Allens attitude is if he doesn't get payed what he wants, he will retire. No reason to want a player that will hold that attitude against a team. Young is younger, 28. Let's be happy that we are adding youth. We will be playing a "new scheme" defensively with a 4-3 base that will employ different alignments. There's going to be a learning curve for the team as a whole.
-
Handful of options, so I'm not worried. I would actually rather add through the draft. I think we can get a great SS in rounds 2-3. FS, I'd prefer experience. Chris Clemons, Nate Allen, Kedrick Lewis, Thomas DeCoud, Roman Harper, Ed Reed, Charles Woodson Patrick Chung, Quintin Demps,

Speaking of not waiting for a bargain... Just seen Buffalo signed Chris Williams G for 4 years 13.5 with 5.5 guaranteed. Looks like he will get a good chance to start at LG.
-
Lovies D doesn't require cover corners. It would be a luxury and money would be better spent on the Dline. Tillman is not a cover corner. He plays a decent zone, but is excellant at tackling and the punch.
-
One thing I haven't read yet, is this signing can be significant in next years draft. We haven't had a complimentary pick in years and if our FA losses are greater than our aquisitions, we may reap some picks. The McCown signing and if he does start may net us a 3rd or 4th RD pick. This is were I want to see the Bears again. Growing their own and having replacements ready to step up. Not saying we are there yet, but if McCown, Tillman, Melton all sign, we may have 10 picks next year. 10 picks and we have flexibility to trade picks for future picks.

No doubt he has the right work ethic and attitude, that is really why he has cashed in.
