  1. If Peppers would take a big pay cut, it would be great to have these two but I think we are moving on. I think this deal was done a while ago, we had Marty to thank for that. He's been pressing on this for a long time.
  2. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/...ichael-bennett/ Hope this is correct, and hope this doesn't set us back financially.
  3. LOL! I think Lovie should give us Tampa's entire draft, we can throw in Tillman, Hester, and Cutler too. All we need is McCown to win!
  4. What about Darren Spoles? He can be a change of pace scat back/returner. He might be cheap and he might want to rejoin Kromer.
  5. I'd rather sign Delmas for FS, draft Ward/Bucannon at SS and sign Tillman to groom a 3rd or 4th RD prospect at CB.
  6. You guys take the bait so easily! Maybe watch/listen to the whole thing before reacting to the worm the writer hung out.
  7. There has been talk the past couple years of eliminating the kickoff, extra points, and so forth. Punts, would probably still be a part of the game, but they have ways to take out the returner on those too with directional, long distance, or slow high punts as we have seen. Hester eliminated his own job with being such a threat. I've also heard crazy theories how teams should be and will be getting more aggressive on 4th down attempts.
  8. At the end of the year, he was put on IR and Trestsmans comment about that was strange. He mentioned how he will not disclose his condition for medical privacy rights. It was speculated that that was said to protect him for when he hits the open market. He must have a something serious that was big enough to possibly effect a contract. Hope he is healthy enough to play if he wishes with whatever team, but hope more that it is with the Bears.
  9. Hard to say Hester is past his prime. Past his peek, I will agree, but the guy still led the NFL in punt average in yards. If he had competent blockers that didn't get called for penalties, he would have had one or two td's last year. If he had Dave Toubs best units, he'd shatter the record. If the roster was filled and we had room to cut Weems and sign Hester in his place I'd do it in a heart beat. Hester is owed nothing, but he is still one of the NFLs top returners still. His departure comes down to $, we need every dime to retool the D.
  10. It's just difference of opinions. I believe having more talent on the front 4 will make a bigger difference than the back 4. But the main key is balance and scheme. You can have players that a great a pressuring the QB, but they won't amount to anything unless you can stop the run first.
  11. DRAFT PROFILE: TREVOR SCOTT BUFFALO 6'5" 256 40 TIME: 4.52, 4.59, AND 4.67 DE/Defensive Specialist? - seems like another 4-3 / 3-4 type player.
  12. That is a great deal, I was figuring closer to 3 since this will most likely be his last pay day.
  13. The QB wouldn't have to do anything but hand off and watch the RB run 30-40 yards on every play. That's why our mediocre safety's and LB's looked terrible. Even Ronnie Lott or Ed Reed would look silly at times trying to stop a RB that is at full speed.
  14. He was scheduled to make 10 million this year. How much of a pay cut would he take? It is rumored he may be heading to Atlanta. I say sign him for the vet minimum
  15. If a player is not owed a roster bonus, there is no reason to cut him unless we have a replacement already on hand. If we cut Peppers now, the price on all DE's to the Bears would instantly rise because we would be in desperate need. The Bears are doing this the right way, just give it time and moves will be made slowly but surely.
  16. If we can keep Hester, which didn't sound promising as he was on NFL network with AJ, I would for Weems money. Hester basically said he was done in Chicago but would like to retire a Bear when his career is over. Tampa was mentioned as a suitor and Hester said he'd love to rejoin Lovie. He has a lot of respect for Lovie because of him putting faith into him. "Devin is a #1 WR"
  17. Its great Patrick Mannely is on air. He said Ratliff is a team leader, worked his butt off to get back on the field, and is the worst guy he faced on PATs and FGs. He said having his all pro experience in the locker room, is much needed. When he speaks, playersand coaches listen. He also mentioned he will play 3T and NT, and will help bc he can play both 3-4 and 4-3.
  18. Just on the score....Jay Ratliff signs 2 year deal. Wating to hear detail. Great start to rebuilding this D, having an all pro!
  19. I like Tajh Boyd also, he was one of the first players we worked out at the senior bowl. Since you noted Tajh and Jordan Lynch as players we are known to have worked out, we have also worked out Aaron Donald and Walt Aikens. It's either we are very secretive on this process or we have not looked at very many prospects yet compared to some other teams.
  20. He could be a decent pick up, was kicked out of UofI for theft, but size and speed are up there with the best. The Bears were at his pro day and worked him out. His 40 time on the fast track was 4.37 and 4.44, they say to add .05 to get a better idea of his speed. Not bad for a 6-1 205 frame.
  21. I did a search to see if anyone has posted on Walt Aikens DB Liberty and it pulled this post up. I thought it was interesting that they had us drafting Kyle Long, when everyone here never thought he'd be a RD1 prospect.
  22. Adams tweet: A sincere thank you to the Bears organization and fans for the opportunity to represent a first class franchise and city..one last #BearDown Some cap savings and hopefully we can find an improvement.
  23. We need to visit nfldraftsite's mock draft to see who the Bears will select since they had that right last February.
  24. I agree, if Hester would want to come back for a little more than the minimum, I would want him back. Our luck, we let him walk, he signs with Dallas and has a game winning record breaking return and it becomes the highlight reel of the century on espn, nflnetwork, and so on.
  25. Wootton had one great play that is worth millions, he ended the career of Brett Favre back in 2010! I think Wootton will sign for a deal closer to 3-4 million a year. I figured this: Wootton - 3.5 million, Tillman - 4.5 million, Ratliff - 3 million = 11 million 2.2 million for draft 2nd tier players: 4-5 million savings account: 3-5 million (injury settlements - replacement players)
