Donovan Jackson moved to LT for 9 games 6-4 , 315 33-1/2 arms Josh Simmons 6-5 317. 33" arms Simmons has better feet but is known to "catch" a bull rusher. Coming off an injury worries me, but he was improving game to game until he that. Jackson must be a no fit for LT even though he played there when needed and did so pretty well. Just using the arm length metric, you have to wonder how much makes a difference. Especially when Will Campbell's arms measure .375" shorter than Simmons, but he measures 6'6" an inch taller overall. Just break Campbell's arms and set them with a gap to get them longer 😜

Bears looking for one more wideout in free agency…
ASHKUM BEAR replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
It's a one year contract, most likely in the vet minimum range. This shouldn't hurt if he doesn't make the team. Its a position of need for a trust worthy returner. DeAndre Carter signs a 1 year deal with the Browns, so look at it as his replacement. -
I started a spreadsheet categorizing measurements and times from the combine. Going to sort by arm length since that seems to be the key. Surprising, the 15-20 guys I have listed, so far, there are guards with size and arms better than tackles. To think a half inch or less means so much is troubling too when comparing. I want to find the happy medium of size and skill.

Bears looking for one more wideout in free agency…

Not sure I'd like to take him 39 or 41, but somewhere later in the 2nd would fit. Maybe trade down is an option too in 2nd. -

My newest RB flavor of the month is Quinshon Judkins. I think the Bears will need to trade back into the 2nd to get him. -
Trade down and Emika Egbuka or Luther Burden would make a dynamic playmaker out of the slot. I would rather take TE Warren than Tet to be honest.
-
How did I miss Burch... he is one of my favorites. Gillotte is no sleeper either.
-
James Pierce is probably too light. I hope they don't go Shemar Stewart 6-5 270. Mykel Wiiliams 6-5 260 is a maybe. Round 2 seems best to get a DE. They fit the profile Poles and Allen being 6-5 260 as a benchmark. Landon Jackson, JT Tuimotoau. Rd3 Jared Ivey, Sau'von Jones, Tyler Batty. ,

Gordan might want to hold off on extending, the talk is he will be used in ways like the honey badger and a huge part of the d. Kenneth Grant, Alfred Collins, Tyler Williams, Deone Walker are all NT/DT that I would love to see added to rotate with Billings. Rd 2 looks like we can take that player. Brisker sure talks like he plans to stay and Byard was a nice veteran to have around, but the Bears need to prepare to have insurance for both. I can see round 3 to get a Brisker replacement and the prospect may be from Penn St. I feel we can get a LB late. Guys like Sanborn should be a dime a dozen. What position can the Bears get by without drafting? RB, WR, or TE

Banks measured longer at the combine 6-5 instead of 6-4, 33" arms, the 3rd widest wingspan. He might be LT #1 now. Simmons doesn't measure as great as we envision, only has 33" arms as well. Stromberg is the back up Center. If they keep Bates, he can be slotted there too. The back up depth at G is not great, so Banks, Kiran, and Jones would give depth at G if needed. Air Ersery LT, like I said is also a great option if Poles thinks he will last until we pick rd 2.
-
I laughed at that draft. If your team is deep, you might be able to sneak a RB in early. They double dipped taking RB and LB in rd 1 that year. It is why I don't want to see the Bears draft Jentry as intriguing as it may be. Round 2, maybe but we could be passing up an Edge, DT, or Oline. Poles has to be smart but also find some offensive playmakers. The window seems open, but it takes a lot of gelling to happen quick to see it this year.
-
Kiran might be the guy. He has to earn it and it will take a lot of hard work, but he has the tools. Braxton is returning from a season ending ankle injury that required surgery and entering his final year under contract. Will he have the strength and mobility regained by fall. We are a little over a month away and saying we are fine at the most important position other than QB is leaving a lot in the hands of hope. Poles said the LT spot is position they will have competition. Kiran was already competition, so I see them bringing in another piece to give them 4 or 5 years of added stability. Every prospect in the draft class also projects as a G, so taking a guy who can fit and compete there also fills the depth chart with a quality player that can play G if needed too. If the Bears take a round 1 or 2 LT, it's a great thing. Something they haven't done much the past 20 some years

I went with Membou because it is suggested that he can play LT. If Banks was an option, I would go there. WR- Luther Burden would be great for slot and jet sweeps but would require a trade down. CB - I feel between Stevenson and Smith, they should be fine with a more aggressive pass rush that Allen will call. TE- I'm intrigued, but feel better outside of pick 10 if going there. Kmet is capable but wasn't a part of the game plan last year. RB- Jentry is a strong possibility because we know Johnson uses the run game to set up the pass.
-
Featuring Caleb would be giving him a run game that would keep defenses on their toes. Ben Johnson alone will help with his play calling, but having RBs that can carve out 4.5 to 5.6 yds per carry like Monte and Gibbs makes the offense thrive. I'm not saying Jentry is the guy needed, buy Hampton, Johnson, or Henderson may be. I still think the oline needs more. Like Phoenix, I am starting to lean back on Banks but Campbell is close. Simmons who we imagine has a more LT physique, only has 33" arms where Banks is 33-1/2. Campbell 32-5/8. Plus Simmons has the knee he needs to recoup from. My sleeper LT pick is Air Ersery who is 6-6 331 and 33-1/8 arms and hovering at the top of round 2. Pick 45 could go Luther Burden WR or Princey DE, but went CB with crazy physical skills this time.

He kind of reminds me of DJ size wise. He'd be a good #3/slot and replace DJ in a couple years.
-
A 1 year extension, so thru 2027. 17.5 mil total guarantee.
-
My guy is Jalen Royals WR Utah. If we are lucky to get him rd 3, he'd be the steal of the draft. Injury limited him to 7 games last year otherwise he'd be 1st rd talk.
-
It's possible. I really like the thought of Kenneth Grant on the D-line to push Billings. It depends on how we have guys graded. We might get that same graded talent in rd 2.
-
5'8 - 185, 4.48 40 speed. Hybrid WR/RB - a gadget player (Williamson) that Johnson can be creative with.
-
The 8byear starter is the "good", great would be the probowler ...lol. There are 4 OTs worthy around slot 10. That is the only position left to upgrade. Jones is not a slouch, but do we want the 15th ranked or 5th ranked. We don't know how much time Kiran needs to learn and adjust, but if he is better that is better for the Bears. You cannot have enough Oline and Dline talent. Otherwise you are trading, signing, and scrap picking year after year.

I meant to reply under Dawizz, sorry. And I didn't throw names out under my first reply because the names are always the same. I prefer to a premium player at a premium position at top 10 if we can. The player we draft at 10, needs to be a good/great Bear 8 years from now.
-
I said premium position...LT, DE or DT. So who... Will Campbell, many experts say he is a player. His technique may need refining, but he's regarded as the top LT. Kelvin Banks LT, he has proven to be a top player during his tenure. Josh Simmons, my third choice. He is a bit more raw but has the tools the others don't. We may have Braxton and Kiran, but these are first round prospects that play the 2nd most premium position on offense. We might not get a shot at one again. Our last great was Covert?
-
I agree, at pick 10 you need to get a BPA especially a a premium position like LT, DE/3T. We better not be near 10 or 15 ever again while Caleb is our QB. Get that premium position locked in while you can.
-
Some positions I see possibly filled in draft. Rd1- LT Will Campbell, Kelvin Banks, Armand Membou, Josh Simmons Rd1-trade down: Grey Zabel G, Booker G, RD2 -DT- NT - Ken Grant, Tyliek Williams, Alfred Collins, Deone Walker RD2- RB Omarion Hampton, Kaleb Johnson, Treyveyin Henderson Rd3- S Kevin Winston, Lathan Ransom,
