  1. The Bears will eventually fade like KC once Caleb gets paid. Unless they can hit on draft picks every time at the right rythem. When I suggest trading a beloved Bear star, it is because there are rising younger players at their position and while their value is still modestly good for our beloved, we could get more in return now. The Bears need 2 starting caliber DTs, one DE, one or two S, one or two LBs, and a CB. They have extra WRs and maybe a TE that can replaced with younger/cheaper. 3 or 4 defensive starters might be draft picks, but they will also need some veterans that fit. Not much in the bank unless they can find some teams to trade with. Its just my thought on how to logically do this. Kmet is one of my favorites, so I would love him to retire a Bear. But sometimes tough decisions need to be made.
  2. I was at Favres last game, Dec 21 2010. The Dome collapsed and the game was moved to Golpher Stadium. Seats were first come first serve, I was 7 rows up, 15 yd line behind Bears bench. Corey Wooten sacked Favre and he never got up. I was also at Soldier Field Dec 29 2009 when the Bears beat the crap out of Favre as a Viking.
  3. They will start dumping resources that way this offseason, and if they can shed a DJ or Kmet, don't be shocked. Sure having them is great and keeps continuity, but there are a lot of holes on that D that draft picks cant fill.
  4. I hate it, but if they bid more than the cable networks, what can you do. It feels the market is forcing every one to streaming one way or another.
  5. All you haters better believe now. Just kidding, we f@cking beat GB twice! Whatever happenes next week, I am happy we are knocking on doors.
  6. Matt Ryan and Ryan Poles played at Boston College together. Ive heard the rumor of Atlanta trading for Poles and the Bears promote Ian.
  7. I wonder how that really happened, coaching adjusting his form or off a performance enhancer? Little digging, college uses a different formation and the punter usually gets extra steps because they slide right or left.
  8. Hightower just sitting in the corner with a grin... talk bears has shifted to someone else. I think the Bears brass know they didnt care about the D as much as putting all the resources around Caleb. If you dont develop him nothing else really matters. Caleb has shown he can be the franchise, so they can shift the focus on building a defense. With Sweat/Booker, I wouldn't be surprised if back to back DTs are taken early. A Safety and LB with speed have to be in the mix as well and of course a DE. DEs: Sweat, Dayo, Booker, Turner (in mix). Since we have 2 getting paid and 2 young, I can see a later round prospect taken if a guy not there round 1.
  9. Burden, Odunze, Walker, Loveland, and Monongai are a good core to go forward with. Id keep Kmet and find the best way to move Moore with the least amount of dead cap hit. On D, wonder if Raiders would take Sweat as part of a Crosby trade. They need a different D next season.
  10. I seen that shortly after. Well, 2nd seed has its perk if they can pull another miracle.
  11. Billings 2 false starts hurt, DBs with no speed to cover, and yes no one able to pressure. The defense needs an overhaul. I hope Poles is creative to get this phase done.
  12. Defense needs to step it up once more. Sucks they bumbled that drive.
  13. Right, why do they wait until the 4th to play. Damn
  14. Bears have no fight, punched in the mouth over and over and still not swinging back. You are playing in your house, fight back.
  15. I hate to lose picks but as late as we should be drafting and one pick would go to a DE prospect anyway, then we lose one 1st and DJ for a Crosby or Garrett. Crosby has more years left, Garrett is a goat right now. Choose your poison.
  16. It's notable because Poles is using some cap this year to add more for next. He has his team working on adjustments to help maximize moves he knows are needed.
  17. Jonah Jackson's contract was converted today. They moved 2.5 million to bonus which frees up some.
  18. Herm Edward's said they are football players, let them play. If you want to give a player a week off start with the older vets. Does Thuney need a week off? He is about the only one we might be able to spare but I think he would go no matter what.
  19. Sacks are important, but pressures are the key and the Bears are last there. I also want a front 4 that helps stop the run. As much as Dayo is criticized, he was good against the run and is missed. DJ might be the hardest to move, but the most deserving for his pay. Luther Burden has emerged and looks like the next Amon St-Brown. Odunze would be at 1000 yds if not-for the injury. Where does DJ fit and does he want to stay knowing he is 3rd or 4th going forward? I'd love to keep the squad intact but if they can make his cap a DT or DE that produces then we would be better. They really can't afford to pay him to be a 3rd target as insurance for injuries.
  20. That is why I feel a major trade is comimg as much as some hate it. The window is now and might shut for 50 more years. I dont care about DJs 50-60 receptions if he can relieve cap and have trade value to bring in a guy up front. They cannot stop the opponent and every game is a shootout. Once you have a QB and line, the rest rise.
  21. I think Montez will be that guy in 2026 unless they do something crazy and trade for one. If they don't trade for one, I see them beefing up the middle. Billings is gone, move Dexter over and draft two studs early. I only say this is because I dont see a stud DE being there pick 24-32 but good DTs.
  22. ASHKUM BEAR replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Burden is ready to take the reins. With Rome on the verge to be a dominant 1 and now Burden rising, DJ sees the writing and might be happier moving. He is the top candidate to be moved this offseason. Edmunds either restructures or gets cut. They have to get some dogs on the dline. Billings looks like a care bear running in circles.
  23. I can not complain, these Bears are legit. Hell of a game, just ran out of time.
  24. I hope so. The way these mock draft sumulators been going all DEs are gone by mid 20s. Bears might double up on DT round 1 and 2.
