How the 2020 draft could unfold. We should fill depth and gain 1 instant starter and 3 or 4 big contributors. If some of our 2019 class of picks and UDFA do well, maybe trade down for 2021 picks if we do not need all positions 2-Khaleke Hudson S Mich... starts 2-Youhanna Ghaifa DT/DE Wym... Contrib. 5-Keisean Lucier-South OLB UCLA Contrib. 5-Jacob Breeland TE Oregon...Contrib. 5 or 6 Scott Frantz OT Kan St...depth 6 Brian Chaffin G/C Stanford.. depth 7 Jalen Hurts QB OKL. .3rd string-Bray elevates 4 or 5th comp pick - Lamar Jackson CB Neb. ..Contrib.

Damn, you might be on to something. Well played by Pace by asking Buffalo first too.

Looked over the draft, have to say I liked the thought of Hooker and Love RB (if he would have been there rd 4, but was taken higher by Wash.) This was all I could do looking over selections. What we got is actually pretty good. 3-24 Amani Hooker or Chauncey Gardner-Johnson - Safeties that can play multiple positions in the backfield. 4- Calvin Ridley WR , Isaiah Johnson CB, 5 -Treyvon Williams RB 7-Duke Shelley CB - why not if he slides a few spots he has a feistiness to him and seems to be disruptive 7- Bar G - I would take a chance on the G from ND. If he never got hurt, he would be a rd 4-6 pick.

I will take a shot at this in a bit, but I really like how the draft worked out. I didn't know anything on Shelley, but seeing his work now, I think he will fit in nice as a Callahan replacement and he will behind Skrine until he gets up to speed. Pagano is more a DB guy, so I think he had input on being able to develop him and Denmark who has jump out of the pool like athletic abilities. I may have drafted Bar or Raymond instead, but we landed them anyways...which the players at that point would rather get signed undrafted and play on a two year deal instead of 4. As for trading up for Montgomery, we will see if it was worth it. He is already getting slated to be a starter by writers. If he pans out and the running game is a threat, then it was well played.

I was like Bruce? That don't seem right. Then I had to google it to see bc I drew a blank.
-
Not too far off, little smaller and hopefully a little quicker. Duke 5' 9" 180 Bryce 5'10" 188 Bruce 5'3" 150. Had the skills to climb the WR in stride and pick the ball off.?

Contract wise, only HaHa and Trevathan are set to hit FA after this season. I don't think they cut Prince or Long, maybe trade them. I think Long retires once that contract ends too.

The 2019 draft has ended and we came away with a RB and WR that will see game time and maybe a slot corner. Next year depending on who we extend, we will need the following: SS- HaHa Clinton-Dix is on a one year deal, he will put together a great season a most likely depart. Deon Bush and DeAndre Houston Carson also will be at the end. OLB-Aaron Lynch, Isiah Irving, RRH, and will be FAs and Floyd entering his final. They need to nail that down so we have a solid backup that could elevate to a quality starter C-Cody Whitehair - though I expect him to get extended before the season, he may create a huge need if he leaves. DE-Jon Bullard and RRH are due to hit FA, Nichols is slotted to elevate, but they will need another prospect in the pipes. G-Long will have one year left. Bar may be his replacement. T-Coward will hit FA, do they sign him long term or draft a top prospect. ILB-Trevathan and Kwitkowski will be hitting FA. We have Iggy but not much depth behind that. QB-Chase will be a FA and the Bears would be wise to get another young gun in the mix.

I think Bar makes it and fills the hole of the rotating career vets we have been going thru at G. I picked him a few times in mocks bc of his connection to HH. Worst case we IR him this season bc of gus ACL.

A great project to stash on the practice squad. It would be nice to see him develop and beat out Gabriel in a year or two.
-
I think you pointed to something important. Hopefully year two they get the TEs more involved. Looking at our offense and KCs, we have depth and potential that beats there's.

Dax Raymond gets signed as UDFA, good chance he makes the roster too. Burton, Shaheen, Raymond, and Bruanicker.
-
They have at least 10 guys signed so far. It will be hard seeing guys we like not making it, like Wyms who has to shine.
-
Fastest WR at the combine. 6-1 200. Compares to Mike Wallace. He could take the top off the defenses. Watch "Emanuel Hall (Mizzou Junior Highlights)" on YouTube https://youtu.be/VQw3u4BiNro

Great stable of RBs: Montgomery, Davis, Cohen, Whyte, Patterson, Nall. Like this kids speed. It will be an interesting TC to see who makes the roster.
-
Have to say this makes me feel great. 1st: Khalil Mack OLB 2nd: Anthony Miller WR 3rd: David Montgomery RBIowa State 4th: Riley Ridley WR Georgia 6th: Duke Shelley. CB Kansas State 7th: Kerrith Whyte Jr. RB FAU 7th: Stephen Denmark CB Valdosta St.
-
Whyte is a dynamic playmaker. The offense added a top RB, rated anywhere as the 2 or 3, the best route running WR, a quick fast slot CB, a blazing RB/KR, and a big, physical, fast CB. With what we had to work with, the team is improved with depth. I really like Nall but wonder if he will make a position switch to TE, they guy clones Burton.
-
Denmark, another CB drafted has size and speed. Looks like a great prospect to develop with Tolliver. Shelley will fit in the slot.
-
Strange pick because of how small he is, 165#, but he is now a Bear...so hopeful.
-
The Bears were not getting it done running the ball. Howard is a great back, look at his numbers compared to the leagues best. The problem was the way the offense needs to be ran he didn't have the quickness or decisiveness to exploit defenses. Davis and Montgomery have that and that will help this offense stay on the field longer and put us in scoring opportunities. Improving the run game will give the D time to rest, giving the big boys more juice to do their thing. Now find a inside O lineman and some dbs.
-
Gabriel is still a weapon and has a place imo. He may lose some snaps to Ridley, but I don't see his roster spot. Robinson, Miller, Gabriel, Ridley, Wims...getting that position solidified.
-
Riley Ridley WR, surprised me but now we have two Ga dogs in the wr pound. I still think Wims is the better.
-
I like the CB from Penn State, but could see going Thompson too
-
The RB that must compared to Hunt was Montgomery. He will be able to start if needed right away. I think the offense took a big leap having this fit.
