As a small school, late round rookie, he does have a ways to go. He has a great mentor to follow in Hicks, so hopefully he makes improvements now that he has seen where he lacks. I think they like his potential to be a future staple along the line. I think if they feel they need more talent, they would fill it with a vet being they are close to the chase. But going BPA, if a premiere talent falls, scoop him up.

Do they view Nichols as legit or Skiner, I think DB is the bigger need. Have to replace two next year. The draft isnt about instant starters, but guys who develop. I see Nichols making an impact with more opportunity.

I will take a shot since we are a week from the start of the first round. Needs are dwindling and picks are limited, so the Bears have to make impact picks to stay ahead of the North. Round 3 Pick 23: Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis (A+) If Hooker was available I think he would be the pick, he went rd2 in this mock. Henderson would be a steal and fits Nagys offense to a T. The offense needs a back to hit the holes quicker than Howard while being able to run routes when called upon. If they get Henderson, the talking heads will admire. Round 4 Pick 24: Isaiah Johnson, CB, Houston (A+) Rising CB prospect with size and speed to develop behind Prince. I thought about him for round 3, so doubtful he slides. We may have a pair of young CBs to take over in Johnson and Tolliver. Round 5 Pick 24: Sheldrick Redwine (FS/CB) Miami (Fla.) (A) I see the Bears double dipping into DBs, Redwine can fit the role as nickle while learning S behind Dix. Listed as a FS but has a knack for attacking the run. Round 7 Pick 8: Maxx Crosby, DE, E. Michigan (A+) Upcoming small school edge, has length and speed but needs to grow a little stronger. Hype is starting to build after his combine so who knows where he would go. Compares to a poor TJ Watt. Has work to do but could be a steal. Round 7 Pick 24: Javon Patterson, OG, Ole Miss (A+) Played all 3 positions inside and is an excellent pass protector. Strength needs to be made, but would make a great swing int lineman.

Nice thought and draft layout. I can see RB and edge flipping, but depends on who goes where and when. I dont think we leave the draft without a RB they feel can step in right away and share the load.
-
50 carrie's would be perfect to work in Bryce Love or the kid from Oklahoma who also got injured late, Rodney Anderson. If we can get one in the 4th or 5th, meaning they might have to make a trade, I would be happy. Getting a every down rb back that fits this scheme would make this offense more deceptive imo.
-
Well...I am just happy to see activity on the board...was getting worried. We may keep a kicker on the PS if we go with unknowns.
-
It is a great sight to see. Not sure why I repeated everything you said, ha. With the team set like that, I can see Pace making some draft moves to get the RB they envision. As of now, they won't need 8-9 players added in the 2020 draft. Maybe he uses one or two of those to move up.
-
I would say the Y behind Shaheen.
-
We most likely lose Trevathan and Dix but will have a plethora of draft picks to address the S. I thing Iggy may replace a Trevathan. We have cap to get Floyd and Whitehair under wraps early which can hell future years.
-
True, if the Bears put him in that role. Seems like Pace envisioned him as the big RB. I think making him the "joker" would be more fun. Line him up as RB, motion him to the TE/slot, back to FB, or out wide.
-
I see, we needed the loss. That kind of sucks. I don't think we have anyone left who can sign elsewhere that can reverse that.
-
Nice dig. I have a feeling Nall has a role this season. I know he is working on his speed and agility this offseason but I cannot find the link. This is one write up that has me thinking Nall could be much more if used right. https://www.playerprofiler.com/article/ryan-nall-advanced-stats-metrics-analytics-profile.

I did not think re-signing your own had an impact on the compensation process. Anyways, great signing imo. I thought he may go to Denver to rejoin Fangio. He is a solid #3 and can spot start if needed. This relieves the need to find OLB in the draft, unless someone we like happens to be there.

Brad Biggs has good sources and he mentions that it was likely Howard didn't make the 53. That was before the trade and I thought he was crazy. Nagy wants a specific fit that Howard didn't match.
-
He has not lived up to his draft status so far and I think Nagy would like to run more 2 and 3 TE sets. They are not getting Kelce production out of the group they have either.
-
Dax is also 24 years old. He served a church mission. He did seem to have nice hands in traffic. Wesco is more a blocking TE, but he can catch well too. He seems like the stiffest in the bunch but plays like an animal wanting to eat.
-
TE's we can get in the later rounds. I think Wesco would become a Chicago favorite with his swag. Kahale Warring, San Diego St Dax Raymond, Utah https://watchstadium.com/videos/dax-raymond-utah-state-football-highlights-2018-season-football Trevon Wesco, West Virginia https://watchstadium.com/videos/trevon-wesco-west-virginia-football-highlights-2018-season-football Kendall Blanton, Missouri

I wouldn't hesitate using the late 3rd on Love, even though it is our highest pick. Round 3 is alright to take the risk on a player who would have been a rd 1 player if he entered the draft last season. If they feel the need to grab another, get that Alex Barnes KS, later on day 3.

Who do I love, I like this kid out of Stanford. Has amazing burst that can shred defenses. His ACL will make it possible for us to draft him and it will be a cause for concern. One reason I wouldn't be shy to draft him is Todd Gurley. He plays hard and will play through pain. I believe he can become a better receiver than Stanford used him. He has faced good teams ND, USC, UCLA, Wash, Oregon and he shined. Davis, Cohen, Nall, Love and Patterson would bring a balance of speed and versatility that Nagy could get creative with. RB is now a bigger need and I can see Pace finding "conviction" in making sure he gets his guy. Who is Bryce Love?

27 days until the draft. Let's get started on some serious draft talk. What positions and players do you think we need? This year has us limited on picks, but we can find some gems. As George Thorogood said, "Who do you love":
-
I thought possibly a 4th rd comp pic, but 5th at least if we kept him. Now the Eagles may get that comp for a year of service. The trade also nets us 2 plus million in extra cap space to help us re-sign Floyd/Whitehair early which will help the cap down the road. Our trenches are getting secured long term. Come 2020, we will have 9 or 10 picks to restock with youth or have ammo to move around. I think Chase Daniel gets extended to lower his cap too adding to the security of keeping the core intact long term. We can see what the draft has to offer for RB and if we dont like a guy, then maybe sign TJ Yeldon or Bilial Powell.
-
The Bears have traded Jordan Howard to the Eagles for a 6th rd pick.
-
True, it took getting over that hump. It took getting the QB, which helped get the coach. Now the team is nearly set without needing much in FA. We are already slated to gain a 4th and 5th in the 2020 draft for losing Callahan and Amos. If we can continue to draft well and sign cheap FAs, the gains will grow when we do lose our own to FA, like Howard next off season.
-
Pace said today in a presser how many FAs expressed interest in wanting to join this organization. The Bears finally established a culture. We have a young GM, young HC, and a young QB which can give us many years of winning. As long as Pace stays on this course it is possible.
-
Henderson looks like he can do it all with catching and running. I would be alright with him. I don't mind spending a 3rd either. Howard has one year left and he is moving on. I would rather draft replacements a year early so they are groomed and ready.
