Couple of things I would like your thoughts on
bowlingtwig replied to Chitownhustla's topic in Bearstalk
No kidding. That crap hot old really quick and I hope we do everything within reason to bring both back. I've heard from several ppl that's around team(don't remember who) that Josh, jay and trestman are all really close. This would explain why we see jay talking to both quite a bit and seeing jay really help josh out by going over things using the photos. If all is true I think its quote possible to see both return on friendly deals -
Right move if healthy but unless dude throws for 400 yds and 5 scores no picks. Win by 30+ the media will crush him.
-
Would love to see that
-
Could be good news as we are 4-0 in prime time games this yr
-
He does call Nashville home. I just can't see us letting him walk but I've become sick of beating this story to death
-
Definitely interesting project. Does have plenty of size at 6'2 230 so him running wouldn't scare me much. Has had a good yr coming back from that shoulder injury last yr. Wouldn't mind taking in 7th. Definitely keep eye on him during all star games/combine/pro days
-
Or at least pulled him when he 1st started to show problems
-
I'm not positive they let schaub go because of salary cap issues but them thinking cutler IMO is based on zero facts except jay is FA after yr and jay played for lovie. No basis. Honestly I don't see jay leaving us as I've never seen him more happier and more engaged as a leader
-
Try losing to them twice lol. I agree lovie makes sense. Team is built on Defense and running the ball plus its his home. Just makes perfect sense
-
Absolutely. I would give him 2 yrs if he wants
-
Sucks but I expected it unfortunately
-
Good point. In years past jay would just sit on bench by himself and now even when he's been hurt you see him up and going over things with trestman. I've seen several times where he's pulled Josh and the entire oline to the side and goes over the photos. But of course because jay is hated by media they will never mention such things. He's really becoming more and more of a true leader
-
Then I apologize as I misunderstood. I thought you were trying to make the case for dumping cutler and making josh starter. As much as I like josh I just think he is a great backup for us and not a full time starter
-
I think we all agree including emery that using the tag is last ditch effort with jay so question is what type of deal would work. I'm thinking a 5 yr deal. With cap hits of $13-14M a yr? What says everyone else
-
Absolutely
-
Listen to everything he is saying. He's making that very case
-
So mccown is better in every possible category then. Awesome. Throw cutler to curb and sign mccown to 3 yr deal. And hey when that ends up biting us in the ass nxt yr don't come crying to me cuz you know what I'll say. Do you really wanna go down that qb carrousel again possibly all because your convinced a 34 yr who's never down anything of real note has all of a sudden found that magic Lol. Your brilliant. :notworthy
-
So let's just sign mccown to 3 yr deal get rid of cutler. Make mccown the starter. I mean isn't that the obvious choice if you honestly believe Josh is better. But of course if that were to happen and father the hits him then u will bash Emery. And has anyone bothered to listen to josh himself say. "I am the backup. End of story". Doesn't that end the debate right there if josh even believes jay is better.
-
I tend to think trestman has been very conservative with josh as its no secret that josh doesn't have the arm strength to take the some times necessary risks that jay does as cracker pointed out a few posts ago. Also have u noticed that Josh's play has been coming down each game or are u blind to his body work.

And now the LSU qb goes down with ACL. Mccarron shooting up quick by default. Beer isn't only person. I've heard a handful talk about it with Bridgewater not taking that step forward like they thought he would. They discount manziel on off field issues and size concerns. I would agree that Bridgewater will probably still be the 1st to go
-
Just posting what I've seen several beat writers put out there on Twitter. Don't know if that includes all or not but I assume even if we take away ST and D scoring cutler is still the better option to ein with right now as he can put big points up on board. And that is my point
-
Sorry but I don't see the problem with what emery said. Dude speaks absolute truth and we crush him? He never did say that we wouldn't use the tag. Just said that there's a risk to using the tag and not being able to sign the qb to long term deal. $16.2M is a lot to tie up on a player when all of that counts against the cap. I suspect that Emery will use the tag if he's confident the 2 can work out long term deal and I'm starting to think that they can. Despite media jay actually likes it here and dudes got real weapons on offense with a real oline for 1st time since his Denver days. Jay is no dummy. I'm thinking he takes a little hometown discount to stay put to help emery bring in more defensive play makers
-
Forget about Marietta and hundley. Sounds like both will return to school
-
Just going by what I've heard the past couple weeks from respected college and NFL ppl. They were saying its because as of right now its completely wide open at that position
-
Boy can that statement go both ways lol
