Offseason thoughts
I'm not putting words in your mouth. You wrote " I'd like the Bears to target and possibly get 2 of the 3 if at all possible, at minimum one." That sounds to me like you want the the Bears to target and get at least one of those three players, if not two. And I'm saying I don't see that happening. Furthermore, we aren't "right back where we were last year" because last year we were coming off a 7-9 season with a coach and GM who needed to save their jobs and make a big splash. This year Lovie will get a new contract and the team will be coming off a season where they barely lost in the NFC Championship with their 3rd string QB playing. Sure, this team has problems. But if you can't see the difference between those two situations, I can't help you.

Offseason thoughts
You're crazy if you think this team is going to shell out the money for one, let alone two, of the top free agents this year after breaking the bank for Peppers last year. It's just not happening.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears, 1/23/11
This. Knowing Terrible Todd Collins is warming up, you have to score on that play. He had two teammates trailing him (Tillman and someone else). If he can't get past Rodgers, he has to get it to one of the other guys. Urlacher played a great game, but that's a killer.

Patriots @ Bears, 12/12/10, 3:15 CT, CBS
Of course, if this was the Bears, you'd be loving it. If the Bears don't like it, stop them.

Quick reaction
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Kreutz may be the worst offensive lineman in the starting lineup at this point. He had two stupid penalties which nullified decent gains and was not getting any push in the run game.

Seahawks @ Bears Gamethread
I could coach a defense against this team. "Stop them from running in the first quarter. They will then pass the rest of the game and we don't have to worry about it any more."

Let's face it
How many times can our tackles block the inside guy instead of the outside guy?

My first 2010 Bears mock
That's great, but I'm not so certain JA and Lovie will have any say in the draft, if you catch my meaning.

My first 2010 Bears mock
The D-line is pretty far down the list of needs for me. I'd much rather take a CB or SS with the 2nd round pick, if we don't go O-line.

Juice Williams????
Because he might actually be able to escape the relentless pressure.

The Offensive Line
Oh, and thanks God we signed Manumaleuna to act as a 6th Offensive lineman. He was terrible last night and hasn't done a thing this year to tell me he's better than Kellen Davis at anything.

The Offensive Line
I also think it's important to note that Kreutz is just as bad as everyone else and it's been obvious for at least two years now. The days when you could depend on him as an anchor on the line are long, long gone.

Lovie staring into space already
I worry about Cutler on the big stage. He wants to win for the Bears, his favorite team growing up, too much. On the throw to a double-covered Hester in the end zone he had Knox wide open on a cross and just didn't look to him because he was looking for the big play. This game worries me.

2nd Half thoughts
While I would agree that Webb has work to do, remember he's coming from a very small school at West Texas A&M, so this is a huge step up for him. And it's not like there are a ton of other deserving offensive lineman that are showing they are better than him out there. As for LeFevour, while he wasn't great, he had at least three passes that should have been caught and, as was mentioned, he had almost no time to throw. To me, the biggest disappointment were the two lines. With all the hype surrounding Marinelli and Tice, I didn't see anything last night to suggest anything has gotten better. The brightest spot I saw was probably Melton, who at least seemed to get occasional penetration. If Lance Louis is a starter on this team, we're going to have problems. The only other encouraging performances were DA and Wright. If the Bears have another year where they keep DA on the bench for half the year, only to see him step up when somone goes down, it is inexcusable. As for Wright, he's the starter, IMO. He was consistently around the ball making plays against the run and in coverage. I didn't see enough to know if he can cover like a FS (which would be better, since Harris is much better at SS), but he may be our best overall safety right now.

Bears Ratings in Madden NFL 11
I'd probably move Bowman up a bit and Tillman down a bit. I was also surprised to see Wootton rated several points ahead of Wright since Wright was drafted first.

More info on Smiley
I would expect the Bears to evaluate what they have during the mini-camp this weekend and then potentially make a move to sign a veteran OG next week if they don't like what they see.

Bears Acquire S Chris Harris for LB Jamar Williams
It should also be mentioned that the additions of Wright and Harris brings leadership to a position that didn't have it last year. Afalava and Payne and rest did an admirable job last year, but you really need leaders back there who can stand back and get the defense in line. Ask any Panthers fan, and the thing they praise Harris for most is his leadership in the secondary, which is the same thing everyone's saying about Wright. I really like that aspect of the deal.

Bears Acquire S Chris Harris for LB Jamar Williams
I was listening to the SCORE in the car and it sounds like he is reworking his deal in some way as part of the trade.

Bears Acquire S Chris Harris for LB Jamar Williams
I like this from a talent upgrade standoint, but who stays out of all the bodies at safety? Certainly Wright stays, and you have to think Harris does too if we trades for him. That leaves Afalava, Payne, Steltz, Manning, and Bullocks. You probably keep 3 of those guys for a total of 5 safeties, particularly if one is Manning, who can play some CB.

WTF!!!!!
That's what I'm thinking. It's actually kind of nice to draft a QB because we want to and not because we have to for a change...

Looks like he's at least going to get a look from the Bears. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=5133405
