He will atleast have a fair opportunity to get a staph infection if he signs in Cleveland!

Who's to say that Culter and his agent can not dictate t o which team he will go to? He could flat out say these are the teams I am willing to play for make it happen or I am holding out and won't report to the new team unless it is one of my teams? Not sure how much leverage Culter and his agent will be able to have but they will atleast bluff. I would not say the bears do not have enough to offer....I would dangle tommie harris and next years 1st!

What's not to like about Jay unless we let him go to a divisional rival that we have to face 2 times per yr for the next 12 years!!!!! What ever it takes this is worth it!!!
-
The Broncos did sign Chris Simms! so Ramsey is not their only option.
-
This would make me really happy but only if we were abe to trade up and also land WR Robiske!
-
I like Beatty and Robiskie and not sold on Freeman.
-
When he played inside he got very good pentration and had several batted passes. He needs to be on the field more and I agree he is an Absolute Beast on ST!

"Cook is the same agent who represents Brett Favre and helped facilitate the quarterback's trade out of Green Bay to the New York Jets last summer." This was an interesting fact that I did not previuosly know about and think it could be possible for Jay to be traded and Chicago better be at least one of the teams discussing what it would take.

We need to go shoplifting and steal this guy!!!!!

The only point that I could add is that one could argue that Boldin could stay healthier with a team like Chicago that "gets off the bus running " but seriously he would make this team better. I would choose Cutler iver Boldin if it was possible but I don't think the Bears want to win. -

I absoulutley agree with you Stinger that DT is not as high of a need as OL, WR, OL, WR, FS, DE, LB, CB then FB and finally DT. We have very good depth at DT especiallly when DD is healthy. Also, the DT pos is not as deep as OL, WR, and LB are in the draft so that should also drive our FA and Draft strategies. By the way Ken Lucas would be a great addition and I would loved to be a ble to pull of a trade for Culter and or Boldin! It does not matter how great our "D" is if we can not put points on the board. A strong "D" may get a team to the superbowl but the "O" is going to have to win a superbowl! I am personaly tired of watching a mediocre vanilla offense that can not get first downs let alone score TDs. It is time that this organization steps up and puts a professionl offense together! -
I am with you -- let's go out and get some players who will make an impact!! Trade 2010 1st rd + a conditional pick and Orton to Denver for Cutler. Then grab the best OT and WR in rounds 1 and 2 even if we have to trade up to get them! Culter + Nicks / Robiski and Oher /Britton / Beatty this would be a tremendous start. The rest of our offseason should include: signing WR T Holt(if cut), FB -- L Weaver, CB -- K Lucas and go after RFA FS J Page from KC, OT O Pace (at least for a visit and exam), OT J St Claire and I would say this team is ready to come out and challange for the NFC North! It may be a pipe dream but if there is even a .00001% chance of prying a QB like Culter away from DEN than that is what JA must do!

BearSox-- Hey nice highlight film and thanks for sharing. I wish I had a video from when I represented my TF South Varsity Baseball team in a hitting contest both my Junior and Senior years at Comiskey Park in the 92' and 93'. My senior year I took 3rd place too bad I only have a couple of pictures and no video. Not bad for a kid who did not even make the freshman team when I was at Curie HS before transfering to TF SOuth as a Soph. I tried out at SIU as a walk-on but it was a joke of a try out beside not many schools will give a 5'5" 155lb guy a chance. I probably could of played at a JUCO but decided to attend a University. I am glad that I at least tried out becasue I did not want to have any regrets later in life. Don't be discourage about being a late bloomer which is not always a bad thing. You have some talent and a good frame to get bigger but what can be the difference is your drive and how much you want it. There are many success stories out there and all you have to do is go out and give it your best and you never know what can happen!

We need all the Offensive help possible and would not mind adding more OL and WR help. I like Jared Page as well and he would fit in nicely. Not sure about Byron Leftwhich and would rather draft a prosepct like Bomar to develop. Although I do not love Kyle as "the QB of the Future" for the Bears I do feel Orton has shown that when healthy he is very capable of managing the offense and would be fine with him next year.
-
no to TO! beside the Bears could not afford him and he is old so it is a non-issue.

NFO - great post and I am also begining to feel the same way about the draft as you. It is the approach of getting good football players that teams like Baltimore, NE and Pittsburg seem to do deliberately and have just a way to draft well year after year. I just want our GM to go and get a player if he thinks that player is the guy that will make a positive impact on the team as soon as possible. I can not stand when a GM tries to be to cute or seems to be to passive in the draft. I am still urk that the Bears passed on FB Peyton Hillis last year when they had four 7 rounders. Since I live in Denver I hear alot about the Broncos non stop but when Shannahan moved up a few years ago to grab Cutler I absolutley loved that move mainly because he was putting his neck on the line and making a statement that this QB is someone to build a team around. I would be far more forgiving as a fan if our team missed on a player that believed in if it was their primary target and not the next best available becasue they were afraid to pull the trigger on a player value wise like Hester for example since. JA and Lovie had to fix the return game and thought he was the one and went and got him! With that being said I like Robiskie and Nicks the best and one could argue drafting both would make this team much better along with another OL. This team will not go anywhere until we get healthy on offense. We need to just tweak the Def a little but we will not have a chance to win a Superbowl with out getting a legit offense. Angelo's best attributes is that he seems to be very good at managing the cap and drafting Def now we just need to find the right personel for a good offense.
-
NFO - I see your point and I would only say that no since he would probably be fired as well especially if Culter is avaible and he is unable to secure him.
-
NFO -- good point and does make sense and I would agree and would say that io would personally subscribe to that theory but JA stopped adding talent via FA in the past few years and also failed to add solid prospects in the draft beside beekman in recent years.
-
AMEN to that! You do what it takes to get I young probowl guy like Cutler. It all about winning and I can live with some of his mistakes now because this kid is only going to get better each year. I would even argu that I am more upset the Bears did not pursue Cassel and I would have offered a conditional 1st next year for him. Cassel is going to be a good QB in this league.
-
NFO -- you are right and if this org thinks we can get by again by only sighning omiyale and st claire than we are screwed. The OL should be a non-issue this year if the JA would have done his due diligence the past 3-4 years by drafting the best OL prostect available in rounds 2-4 instead of reaching for athletic guys that noone has heard of from little obscure schools like Abilene Christian and Stanford. When a draft is deep at certain positions JA needs to realize that and draft quality players and stop stretching to fill a need. WR, OL, and LB are supposedly the deep positions in this draft and this should be where we make an effort to improve our team with grabbing WR and OL early.
-
this would also be a great start to the draft! especially if Kevin Jones resigns with the bears than we do need to look for one in the draft which would allow us to infuse the OL with some youth and talent. Something that should have been done the last 3 years.
-
This would be a great first day! I would only change best OL available at number 18 if Britton was not avaiable! Robiskie is going to be a stud and will be able to make an impact immediatly like Forte did for us last year: Prediction 1000 yrd rec and 8 TD!!!
-
only good news is that he stayed in the afc and did not end up in minny or detroit. golden opp for bears and they missed out.
-
I don't know if they are any good or even whether or not they would fit our system but they are being talked about. They are much bigger than our deffensive ends. Canty, Chris DE UFA 6-7 304 4th Season DAL Olshansky, Igor DE UFA 6-6 309 5th Season SD Babin, Jason DE UFA 6-3 267 5th Season KC TBD

I would take him for our 18th overall pick. kid is going to be really good!

Add G Brandon Moore to the FA list. http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/26/jets-release-guard-moore/ Jets release guard Moore Posted: News | Steve Wyche | Tags: Brandon Moore, Free Agency 2009, New York Jets In an expected move, the Jets released guard Brandon Moore on Thursday, according to his agent, Hadley Engelhard. Moore, who was due a $7 million roster bonus, could not come to terms on a contract restructuring and is now a free agent. Moore, a six-year veteran, started every game the past four seasons and he could be one of the more attractive options at guard in free agency.
