  1. This is the absolute Truth...Big D....The Bears get lucky and finally get a very nice QB Prospect for free and he has proved capable of walking of the street and lighting up a 3rd string NFL Def. I was not worried about the talent he was going against I was evaluating his leadership, poise/moxie, decison making, accuracy, arm strength and mobility and I very much like what I saw from him. If his co-rookies did not get the jitters (Monk & Bennett) Caleb could very well lead the team for a come from behind win in the final 2 minutes! So we need to see more of this kid throughout preseason before we rush top the conclusion that he should go to the PS where other teams are able to steal him.

    Hanie Poll

    The next Jay Cutler........
  3. You have got to be kidding -- Cut REX and Sign BECK who has not proved anything in this league??? Rex has at least shown he is capable of playing at a very high level -- sustaining a consistent high level well that remains to be seen this year.
  4. Another player that I thought played well was FB Lousaka Polite - made some nice blocks and had a good un up the middle also caught a few passes. I also really love how Hass attacks the football and physical style of going up fo the catch. Great body control.
  5. Wolfe looked fast & elusive like he did on film from his college days -- very encouraging!
  6. How did this he go undrafted if a guy like matt cassels could be dafted by NE a few ys ago. i am extremely impressed with how this kid peformed. He not only executed the plays but showed he might have 2nd round talent. I heard flacco had a poor 1st outing. Extremly glad we did not draft Chad Henne. I still can not get over how he ran the 2-3rd sting offense like a well tuned machine that has been playing together for a while. I think the bears better keep this kid on as the #3 because he could be really special.
  7. My 2 favorite players are the entire Bears "DEFENSE" staring Urlacher and Brown and the Special Teams UNIT! But I am really dying for something entertaining and exciting from the OFFENSE instead of a high school musical disaster type performance ! My favorite play of all time currently is the TD return by Hester against the Broncos when he leaps over P Todd Sauerbaun to go the distance!
  8. Pocket poise. This is an area I have always felt is key, and w/ our OL struggling again, should be again. Rex has never looked good IMHO in this area. Orton has looked better, but enough? As QBs wear red jerseys in practice, I don't think we will know this until the preseason games are played. I mostly agree with this except for the past year and a half. I remember Rex showing good pocket poise, decision making, and good touch prior to all the injuries making him think to much about getting hit. He even was semi-mobile when he nearly rushed for a td at the Metrodome but blew out his acl instead. Decision making and Accuracy are important but probably not 95% - if that were the case Greise and a few other one dimensional QB's would still be here -- Kordell?? Steve Stenstom?? Shane....et ol. Here are 2 examples of guys that could make all the throws well enough and combined with fairly good decision making and accuracy were pretty darn effective -- Erik Kramer and Jim Miller -- only problem is that they and the OL could not stay healthy. I think Rex and Kyle may be able to duplicate these guys perfomance providing the OL gives them time and the Play calling utilizes their strengths with out being predictable. Rex has already teased us with what he is capable of doing which is why it is so frustrating when he is inconsistent. Kyle has poved Brian G to be deemed expendable. I can live with physical mistakes but the stupid BONEHEAD mistakes have to stop!
  9. Jason -- it's funny but now there is even a post created just to talk about Kellen Davis -- I guess others are paying attention to what he is doing and agree with me that he could be a big suprise..
  10. hester does deserve a raise for the impact he has on games. I also agree that the bears should not negotiate with a player who is under contract unless he is in camp. Hester is only positioning himself for an injury if he holds out of camp and that certainly would not help his career nor the bears.
  11. DEFENSE: I would think the guy who is most ready to make an imeediate impact on "D" is Dusty as long as he stay's healthy. I also think K. Payne will be pushing for starting time at SS by the end of TC. Summary: Overall this unit should be a top 5 def and the depth really looks great going into TC. OFFENSE: I have a different TE making an impact as a rookie especially in the RedZone - Kellen Davis who is a real physical specimen could be a dangerous weapon for us this season. I think Forte will have an excellent rookie season 1200 yds 12TD as well as C. Williams settliong in at LT with both players helping Rex have his best and most consistent season as a pro thus earning not only the starting job but a 4 year extension. Summary: The "O" may not have the star attractions like the way Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer give to the Bengals but I think this Blue Collar Bears offense will give a great effort and get the job done and really suprise many! Special Teams: I see Jamar Williams stepping up and being the impact on ST that BA was past few season.
  12. I sencond that ....Live in Parker, CO and did not hear of it either.
  13. Great Post - Terra!!!
  14. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding this but; how is cutting a player and taking on a cap hit (meaning money that can not be allocated to a player but not actually spent) vs. paying a player his salary and benching him for the season a better option for the team or the salary cap for that matter? Does the cap hit = Benson's annual salary or is it an additional penatly against the Bears' current cap? If they are equal than I would say that it is far more beneficial to the Bears to cut the player and eliminate the distration than paying him to ride the pine and having him around to be a distraction. Please explain if I am misunderstanding how the cap works.
  15. As far as I am concerned Benson can not be trusted and has totally lost his privelege to remain with the beloved. The Bears can only count on the same total lack of judgement, heart and disrespect for the organization to continue should Benson be given another reprieve after this arrest. I also think K. Jones would be an excellent pickup and has shown more potential than Benson but unfortunalety he has also be very injury prone. The major difference between the two is that I have not ever heard that KJ had been accused of having a poor work ethic, bad attitude nor done anything detrimental to his team. I must admit that I do not follow the lions either. I also think KJ would love an opportunity to suit up against his old team and prove that they made a mistake by letting him go. Jones has bettehr speed and vision from what I remeber and just never had a very good line nor an OC committed to running. The league should not penalize a team "salary cap wise" for cutting a player who has committed an act detrimental to the league image. This would help teams make Goodells job much easier to manage the league's image.
  16. It was a Cheap Shot by SD fullback!
  17. How about the possibilites for the REDZONE OFFENSE: QB - Grossman RB - Forte 6'2'' WR - Monk 6'4'' WR - Bradley 6'1'' LT - Williams 6'6'' LG - St.Clair 6'5'' C - Kruetz 6'2'' RG - Barton 6'5'' RT - Tait 6'6'' TE - Olsen 6'6'' TE - Davis 6'7''
  18. His bother (who lived with Koren) was also arrested for selling excasty; which is probably whyn the Pack dumped him and why the BEARS don't need Robinson.
  19. Lawrence looks pretty good albiet not against top talent -- check this out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZEmdqcL8tw I do like that he and Forte bring some size to the position. Note that Lawrence wore #32 in college........
  20. I agree that I am not happy with CB on or off the field but I do feel sorry for him and wish him the best --- in a Bengals uni after he gets cut!

    Caleb Hanie

I'm just glad we signed Hanie and did not draft HENNE!
  22. I say no to Dante but if he is healthy and was cheap than maybe depending what the staff thinks about our undrafted QB's: I have projected Rex's numbers over 90 starts assunimg he never improves and compared them to Dante's 90 career starts; please remeber the receivers that Rex had vs. what Dante had available. Rex: Career Stats (only 30 career starts) Passing Rushing Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Sck SckY Rate Att Yds Avg TD FUM Lost TOTAL 489 900 54.3 5,907 6.6 31 33 56 412 70.9 52 76 1.5 1 19 10 *90 start projection while assuming Rex does not improve * 1467 2700 54.3 11,814 6.6 93 99 168 1236 70.9 156 228 1.5 3 57 30 Dante: 8 year Career Stats (90 career starts) TOTAL 1,867 2,927 63.8 22,422 7.7 142 94 270 1,494 89.9 484 2,536 5.2 33 93 38
  23. I was expectcting to hear Brohm's names called but apparently they do not feel he is any different that the QB's currently on the Roster. This may also prove that RB is a bigger need than OG.
  24. There will be a Guard in the 3rd that will provide depth and challenge for a starting job. Our OL currenlty & could project as follows: LT Williams LG St Clair (he looked much better at G that OT last year). C Kruetz RG Garza / Beekman Rt Tait Plus there is Reed and Jones for depth at G.
