Ken Lucas may become avaiable and would be a great tandem with Tillman! http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/26/lucas-nixe...t-could-be-cut/ Official Blog of the National Football League Home « Bills release TE RoyalCowboys could cut safety Williams »Adam Schefter Panthers’ Lucas nixes deal to Detroit, could be cut Posted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Carolina Panthers, Free Agency 2009, Ken Lucas The NFL’s trading block opens Friday, though talks already have been in high gear. The Panthers tried trading cornerback Ken Lucas to the Detroit Lions. Problem is, once the two sides were engaged in discussions, Lucas let it be known that he did not and would not play in Detroit. Thus, trade talks were abandoned even though some in the league thought the trade might go through. The talks are an indication of what Carolina has in mind for Lucas, who is scheduled to make $5.6 million in base salary this season. If Carolina cuts Lucas this week, it will free up $2.375 million against its salary cap. For a team desperately searching for space, Lucas provides some of it.

Thanks Ashkum Bear for putting this together and I think it was a fantastic idea!!! Now we can have voting records like politicians. I voted for OT William Beatty -- gives us another potential starting LT but should be able to compete at RT as a rookie WR Brian Robiskie -- this guy is a pro receiver and will step in as a rookie like eddie royal was able to do for the broncos last year. Very solid pick! RB Donald Brown -- becasue the offense needs help and this guy would be a good fit. Would be very happy with Jarius Byrd DB Oregon because he could compete at a need of FS as well.

Assuming that WR's Macklin and Crabtree are gone I am taking William Beatty, OT Height:6'6" Weight:307 http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/willia...le-tab-analysis Overview A talented athlete capable of becoming one of the surprises of the 2009 draft. In a talented left tackle class, Beatty might be the best combination run blocker. Beatty's burst to the second level and explosive initial pop helped Donald Brown to a 2,000-yard season in 2008. Beatty demonstrated more than enough athleticism to protect the passer, though he was not a true blindside protector when lefty Jared Lorenzen was under center. The concern is that Beatty's level of play spiked dramatically as a senior, forcing scouts to determine if Beatty matured as a senior or was motivated by the promise of a big NFL paycheck. Had an arm span of 34 3/4 inches and a hand span of 10 inches at the combine. Analysis Positives: Intriguing athleticism. ... Gets to the second level quickly. ... Good agility and straight-line speed to pull. ... Explosive initial pop. ... Flashes upper-body strength to lift and pancake defenders. ... Flashes an effective initial punch and has the body control to recoil and ease into his set. ... Good lateral quickness in pass protection. ... Good balance. ... Ascending talent despite starting four years. ... Characterized by UConn staff as having greatly matured as a senior. ... Could be just scratching the surface of his potential. Negatives: Doesn't always sustain his blocks long enough. ... Good straight-line speed, but loses his feet in the trash. ... Potential one-year wonder. ... Really stepped up his level of play as a senior, sparking some debate whether his level of play will diminish once he's cashed an NFL paycheck. ... Earned no postseason accolades over his first three seasons, but earned first-team All-Big East honors as a senior. ... Broken leg that ended his sophomore season after only seven games requires a medical check at the Combine. Our OL just has too many questions marks right now to not address in RD 1 and then WR becomes the focus of RD 2 and go after Nicks or Robinskie both should complement Hester. I would even consider drafting 2 WR this year if Robinskie fell to the Rd 3.

Part of the low rep may be to his extradonary long arm length. Long arm guys typically do less reps. OT tackels need great footwork and technique over brut strength and little agility. Just a few factual comments and we really do not know his commitment to weight lifting anyway.
-
Warrick Dunn who had a similar build lasted a few years and was very productive in the role his teams have used him in. So until Wolfe has a larger body of work and used more efficiently than I will not say he can't play!
-
I would say that neither of these players would help us win the superbowl! Pac-man can't even help hims self stay out of trouble and Vick is not all that impressive body of work if you were to not look at his rushing ability.has I would rather have Caleb Hanie start than bring Vick to the team. I think these guys should be blackballed from the leaguea and think of the PR image and message it would send to fans. I am all for second chances but this is not one I would provide.
-
The only QB worth taken in the first will most likely go number 1 overall. So NO on any QB at 18 and YES to OL / WR in rounds 1, 2, 3 Pick DE / S / CB in round 4 - 5 FB/LB rd 6 - 7
-
Rethinking my last post a little -- I agree Taylor would be a great mentor to Forte as well and always like how hard Freddie runs.
-
I would be very pleased if the Bears were able to address OL and WR in the 1st 2 rounds especially if we got one of the top five OT's either one of these WR Heward-Bey, Britt or Robinski (really like how this kid plucks the ball out of the air with his hands).
-
I would pass on all but McAllister for the right price. Look for the Bears to wait and see what is avaiable in the draft. I would even consider signing a S like Landry from the Ravens to come and start. Don't get me wrong I think Tillman would be great at FS and will probably happen sooner than later. Tillman has always paly CB really physical like a S and think it is in his blood!
-
Many state the Bears have a need for a compliment or a change of pace back to Forte? Which is it and what is the difference? Why doed Kevin Jones (if he comes back) and Wolfe not both of these needs? I really think we just need to focus on OL and WR for offensive to be improved greatly as well as bring in more talent to compete at QB. Taylor, K. Jones and Duece are all similar so I would go with the younger and currently most healthy and keep Jones. Wolfe has some good attributes and would like to see him utilized more and not in obvious 3rd and long situations. We need more of a mix like what the Panthers and Jaguars usually have.
-
This is also my opinion -- no to JP.
-
I am not say that this is what the Bears should do but just fits their pattern of operation. I think they should look at Dawan Landry from Baltimore.
-
The Bears draft Safties and typically do not acquire them via trade or free agency. Arch is the only one in recent years that I remember bringing from outside the organization. This area will be addressed during the draft and will cost less. WR, OL and RB have been where the bears have made moves to improve the team outside of the draft.
-
NFO, I could not agree more. St. Clair is a versatile player but over as a starting LT he was average at best. Like him back for quality depth and possible starter at OG. Clearly we need to infuse more young talent into this group via draft or FA.

The only comment I have is this seems to happen alot in baseball where a good college SS will project better as a 2b or CF at the MLB level because of various attributes that fit the MLB prototype for specific positions. Funny thing is you do not hear of too many other teams that will draft players at one position only to hope they can make a transition to another position of need except for the bears. I do not count taking a LB/DE hybrid who fits the 3-4 scheme better than the 4-3. Bears examples (college Pos/ Pro Pos): Lyman LB/TE, Hester: KR/WR/RB/FB/Nickle/CB/WR, Jason Mckie HB/FB, Urlacher: SS/MLB, Daniel MAnning: CB/S/Nickle, Israel Idonije: DE/DT, Lance Brigs: FB/MLB/OLB, Kevin Payne: R/KR/P/SS, Rod Wilson: S/LB, Charles Tillman: CB/FS/CB John St Claire TE/C/G/OT

Yeah it is a simulation draft based on Draftek's player rankings. I do find your mock very interesting though. Tradedown with CLE assuming the player we were looking for at 18 was no longer there thus providing some additional picks to get add more talent on OL, WR, FB while getting more depth for LB, FS, D, CB as well as adding a QB to the mix. Very good strategy. Chase Daniels could develop into Drew Brees type QB or Rex but we need to always add a QB with upside each year in order for the drought to cease! I also would not mind getting Rhett Bomar 4-7 round range.

` Hass? He is long gone!

I liked what I saw in Cassel enough to trade for him but noway for a first round pick. A conditional pick in 2010 based on performance plus Dusty or Mark Anderson.

David Carr, New York Giants -- seems to have the physical tools but lacks the mental toughness (pass) Matt Cassel, New England Patriots -- could be a one year wonder or next Brady ( i am willing to gamble on the latter)beside he has already been developed for 4 yrs we would just need to add a new OC, #1 WR and improved OL to complement him? Kerry Collins, Tennessee Titans -- old not interested (I predict the titans will lose this weekend)Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cincinnati Bengals -- no thanks Charlie Frye, Seattle Seahawks -- the epitomey of inconsistent -- throws too many picks Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- can't stay healthy -- would rather stick with Orton than over pay for this guy Rex Grossman, Bears -- see frye and carr and add shorter qb Joey Harrington, New Orleans Saints -- Make Jonathan Quinn look like a servicable vet Byron Leftwich, Pittsburgh Steelers -- has a long hitch no mobility, not a better option than Orton J.P. Losman, Buffalo Bills -- see rex, plus injury history. Jamie Martin, San Francisco 49ers -- who? Luke McCown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- no thanks Dan Orlovsky, Detroit Lions -- has nice attributes but unproven can not say is a better than Orton J.T. O'Sullivan, San Francisco 49ers -- nothing special Patrick Ramsey, Denver Broncos -- pass Chris Simms, Tennessee Titans -- did have 1 good season with the bucs but not very strong and injury prone Brian St. Pierre, Arizona Cardinals -pass Marques Tuaisosopo, Oakland Raiders -- pass Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals -- Afraid that we would vastly overpay and not get what he is in AZ for lack of WR on this team Anthony Wright, New York Giants -- no way Out of this group I would take a gamble on Cassel and Anderson and maybe draft a prospect.

Because the Bears live in 1985! They historically overbuild the foundation with DEF and base their offense on the running game thus having an unbalanced team. Another problem is while the 85 Bears arguably had one of the most talented (athletically and fast) def of that era the modern game has made continued to advance to the point DEF players today who could put those players to shame. So until this organization understand you need to be able to have a QB who can take over a game when needed we will be stuck watching a mediorce offenses / team. Additonally, it is because of this philosphy the team has no idea how to evaluate this position nor do they make it a priorty. Infact they seem to allocate a lot more resources to the DEF vs. the OFF which also plays a major factor.
