  1. This game mainly made me feel sorry for the Cleveland fans and don't blame for planning a mass no show for their next home game. This game also made me even more insecure about the talent on this team which ultimatley shed light that the Bears have some real glaring issuess to address before becoming a contender. Order of my biggest concerns: 1) OL 2) FB 3) Offensive Play Calling 4) Turnovers 5) DL 6) Corner opposite Tillman
  2. I don't have a problem with the running up the middle except for that we do not have a FB that can lead block nor an OL that can control the LOS. You would think that with all the film sessions that Turner would have learned this by now. Yes, Turner has to be accountable for not knowing his personell's weakness and getting creative to solve these issues and I not talking about the attempted wildcat. Also, if he had a say who makes the team than that is another area he needs to be accountable for. We had Polite here for plenty of time to evakuate him to know that he wass better than Mckie and Polite was cut. Since we are on the FB tangent I am still ticked that they did not draft PEyton Hillis two years ago when the Broncos got him in the 7th rd. He would be a stud lead blocking for Forte.
  3. Right on! If anyone thought we had a real chance going back to the SB while having a snowball chance in hell of actually winning it without an elite QB simply does not know what it takes to win in the NFL. Look at New England and Indy for recent examples (NY was a fluke and don't care for Eli at all but they had luck anf a great D last year). Here is my point as we look at the Carolina Panthers. Not that long ago the Panthers were a perenial NFC favorite and were a force to be reckoned with while having a very good Def, ST, Running attack and WR's but nothing special at QB. Now they are getting old, need a QB and to rebuild on Def. One could also say that this describes the Eagles as well except McNabb is a real good QB not great. This is the direction the Bears have been heading down since before we lost in the SB 3 years ago. I truly believe the reason why Rex became so hated, not for the mistakes and inconsistent play but rather the false hope and let down at QB he provided especially when the rest of the team was Championship ready (D and ST). Sure, I was very pissed at how the team played in Cincy especially with the way Benson tore us up. Bear fans I promise you it is not all doom and gloom either. This is the year to develp our young palyers on both sides of the ball. Like it or not it is very much needed in order for this team to get where we all want them to be sooner than later - elite. Along with my foam brick and tums I will choose to embrace this transformation process. As rough as it maybe at times I much rather sacrifice this year and maybe next for a chance to have a team 3 years from now that could be a major contender for several years to come. If you don't believe this than name 6 teams who have a real chance of winning the SB right now and then tell me who their QB's are? Please think about that for a moment......An even closer example in our own Division is the Vikings, who with an aging former elite star QB is night and day from last year and now a true contender from pretender. After this season I expect management to cut the fat (Tommie Boy et al and ala Mike Brown) and begin building the one area we know this team is competent in is drafting defensive players and signing OL. We had a great off season this year and don't allow the Cincy game to spoil that. Instead let's enjoy the fact that a franchise stuck in 1950 offensively has entered into the new Millenium from an offensive stand point the day we acquired Cutler. You have all seen the long list of former Bear QB's and what that has meant - losing and mediocracy. I am tired of the latter and very optomistic moving forward and excited to watch this team to rebuild around Jay Cutler. This team is far from perfect but much further from Oakland, KC, Cleveland and Detroit. The OL play asside I really like the direction of our offensive unit as we have as good of a young talented group here ever. Believe it or not we also have some very good but raw talent on DEF as well. But another question may be wether our current coaching and schemes are good enough to takes us to the next level?
  4. What else were they going to do but admit they played like crap? They played on national brodcast!
  5. I was thinking the excact same thing while trying to displace my disgust from wathing a complete manhanding by the Bengals. I can not stand the Cover-2 scheme and was actually thinking there maybe something to the 3-4 which the Steelers and now the Broncos use very effectively. As far as the offfense goes I am tired of the same old act. Time to bring in someone with a fresh plan.
  6. I too was really impressed with Miami and it was really cool to finally see the wildcat that everyone was talking about. Very, very entertaining but probably becasue i don't care if the Dolphins win or loos unless htey play the Pakers or Vikings. The wildcat would never ever work in Chicago with our current personell nor would I want to try running it here, especially since we now have a real QB! It would have been interesting to see back when we had Kordell Stewart and A-Train et al.
  7. This is where Urlacher would be calling plays on the field in these instances so credit the Falcons for exploiting the young inexperienced MIKE; Nick Roach. Lovie should have been prepared for this scenario..
  8. Becasue we don't have the personel to run the wildcat and if we used it more we are only going to get a player hurt on a gadget play i.e. Hester etc. I agree that Turner is not very imagitive and thought Alanta had some very creative plays against us. But the wildcat works well in MIAMA because they a have the personel with 2 legit nfl RB quality starters with a FB and OL that can block. By the way how did the Bears let Polite go?
  9. I said that last year! What a waste of salary space!
  10. What about Gaines? He was supposed to be able to line up at FB and I can not recall seeing him there yet?
  11. You can thank the 1985 Bears for the ranking! I was at a wedding last weekend here in Colorado and at our table was a Chiropractor ands his wife from Texas. We were talking football and he told me the Bears were his second favorite team and that alot guys his age began following the Bears after hearing the SB shuffle as a kid.
  12. In that case I wish you had more vikings and pakers especially the real AP and Aaron Rodgers!
  13. I agree with Jason on this one. You have to let these kids play to be developed and will make the Bears a much better team for the long term. Not sure anyone on the street will help at this point as they are way behind on learning the plays as well as cheminstry needed to be a difference maker.
  14. We should have drafted Peyton Hillis last year who the Broncos selected in the 7th round I believe! What a mistake by the Bears. But I would love for Melton to successfully contribute to this team in any capacity DL or FB or short yardtage back!
  15. Here is the deal; none of us including the bears know for sure what they have in this kid. He very well may never amount to anything in the NFL. I simply said I have no problem keeping a raw athletic athlete around to develop. I agree and do know what a great back is and although I love Forte I would not yet call him an elite back until he proves capable of duplicating his rookie season over the next few years. One of Forte best assets inlcude work ethic, heart and the ability toi catch the ball really well for a big back. What is wrong with stating "what if Melton becomes our version of BJ" whom I view better served sharing the load with a faster back that compliments his power bruising style. I don't think it is that far fetched to believe that maybe Melton could be used as a short yardage back, heck the Fridge has proven a DL can do that. I would be willing to bet Melton would be a great improvement over Mckie in a short yardage situation. Tell me that Jamal Lewis is faster than HM right now and I would say that is hard to believe? Last point is why do you think BJ ended up at SIU in the first place? Could it be that he was never going to see the field as a starting rb behind Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown while at Auburn?
  16. I have no problem over exagerating an injury inorder to stash a very raw and athletic player for a year. Who knows what position he will end up at but what if he could be our version of Brandon Jacobs?
  17. How about Ben Pollard S; cut Mcbride? The Chiefs surprisingly released Pollard on Saturday, the Kansas City Star reports.
  18. I would rather grab this guy and drop McBride. The Chiefs surprisingly released Ben Pollard on Saturday, the Kansas City Star reports.Spin: Pollard spent nearly all of training camp with the first-team defense and had started 31 games since being selected in the second round of the 2006 draft. However, rumors began swirling this week that the Chiefs were trying to trade him to allow veteran Mike Brown to move into the starting lineup. Pollard will certainly catch on elsewhere, but his IDP value has suffered a crushing blow.Sat
  19. I did not realize it was for the 1st week of practice, I also really liked how they had several plays in a row from certian players.
  20. This video will pump you up and has a good overview of an intense practice session. Take note that this team is on a mission as they bring it in after practice with the familiar chant from 2006 1..2..3.."MIAMI"! I think we are in for a special season and should be able to match up with anyone in the NFC. Reaching the Superbowl in Miami is not out of the realm of possibilites. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/mul...lip=Y&rn=11
  21. http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/mul...amp;play_clip=Y Check out this video of bears rookie cb DJ Moore dunking a basketball!
  22. I agree that he is a little bigger than we all thought and is really ripped. He definatley is no Airese Curry!
  23. You may be right but without even evaluating these players I think it is very premature to say who who be cut and who will not since training camp has not even started yet.
  24. Turner has studied how the Broncos used Cutler, and he plans on picking the brain of former Denver coach Mike Shanahan. I thought this was a really interesting tidbit especially for all of us whom have been calling for an offensive consultant maybe this could facilitate into something with Shanny.
  25. I wish we had both Haas and Rideau last year over Booker / Davis. Rideau showed some promise last preseason and Haas made one of the best non-cacthes ever when he made that amazing catch going out of the corner of the endzone in preseason action.
