  1. This is not an I told you so, but the O-Line is really weak now outside of long. I full heatedly feel they got rid of Slauson and probably Bushrod too, way too soon. The secondary is weak imho. Last year the teams ran over the Bears because of weak linebackers. I think they will pass over the weak secondary now. The weakness of the line will make the team pass more, teams will be passin and scoring more will also, but they will combine to expose cutler, along with the loss of Bennett and Forte this year.
  2. Not to be negative, but I really wasn't impressed with the Oline and especially the depth in what I watched. There were some major some major changes, so maybe time will help.
  3. My ass, a scuffle in with the D is not a representation of a bad team mate. He never had locker room scuffles, all he has done is get fired up and wants his team to win which lead to locker room arguments and this on the field now. I'm willing to be that if Fitzgerald is on the team next year, he will remain, and the Jets will make the play offs this year. He is a leader not a disrupter, just was openly critical of people that deserved it.
  4. I like it honestly, gives me a RB to fall back on in the drafts this year. Speaking of which, its TalkBears2 going to have our league again this year?
  5. I think it was the talent on D not Gase. Fox was trying to keep games close and limit him. I don't buy into Gase's offensive genius, even though he might be. But I won't fault him for last years offense. The D was so porous, they needed to find a way to cut down the time other offenses could be out there.
  6. I think they screwed up with Marshall and Bennett and Jeffery will play out the tag and move on next year. Sucks but it's been pretty predictable for a long time.
  7. It's possible but based of last year I think it won't be. Last year, the team leaned on the run on offense and were ate up with the run on D. I think this year, teams will have to pass more as the Bears improved at linebacker. The Bears let up a 99 or better QBrating or better against the pass from memory. I think the improvement on the front 7 will expose the secondary and allow more points and yards for a defense. Teams just didn't need to pass last year, in a passing league. I will go top 5 on the run next year, but failed in the pass, and at best 15 in d in yards allowed, and 20th in points allowed.
  8. I blame offense for 14th in the league in yards given up on D. The Bears were 22 in yards against and 22nd against the run(4th against the pass). It's indicative of the offense being 23rd in points scored, while the deffense allowing the 13th most points. When a team gets up on you, they run more and the Bears were actively trying to keep the games close by dominating the time of possession which they did (over 31 minutes) by running (11th in attempts) and not passing (23rd in attempts). That's why I think the Bears were 14th in yards given up. Edit: I incorrectly said they gave up 20th most points, they gave up the 13th most, or were 20th worst in giving up points.
  9. They completed 20 of those targets, and only chancellor was the only worse of the "top 38" safeties they picked in that category.
  10. When thrown at him, they also completed 80% of the passes against him. Edit: We can agree do disagree on his talent if you want, but I felt the whole secondary needed replaced from last year. Hopefully, the Bears D can step up next year. The defense was in the top 10 of hurries(so pressure wasn't the biggest problem imho), but 26th in QB rating against. He is alright as a filler player, but an upgrade is needed.
  11. I think allowing a 117 quarterback rating against you isn't good. Maybe he would start on some teams, but that speaks more about the other teams then the quality of his play.
  12. The starters will be because of past regime failures and players lost to this current regime changes that has been massive. It's not a vindication of the players until it is shown what they can do on the field. Amos is a perfect example of someone that is not good by NFL standards, but started by need.

    Slauson released

Good luck to Slauson, he was obviously loved by his teammates and fans of Chicago. He brought a nastiness, leadership, and knowledge of every position of the line and reading defenses that you rarely hear about. I wish him great success in San Diego with a team that could desperately use his help.
  14. This got me thinking about slotting rookie money. Did it really help out the way the players association wanted? The money saved from paying rookies a set amount based when they have picked, hasn't really lead to retention of older players and the upping of salary for veterans. Instead, the inflated contracts just moved from rookies, to second contract players getting overpaid. Players that still got nice checks before, but not the inflated numbers that they get now.
  15. Last person I was a big fan of got cut this week lol. Watch what you say.

    Slauson released

To be fair to Trestman, Emery hired Mel Tucker and the special teams coordinator on his own.
  17. I deleted the rest of your message, because I'm not going to bring negativity. I have a solid argument against Pace in my head. The points of it can't be changed by what happens in the future. The choices for GMs and the QBs the Bears dedicated to are not something I have supported for a wide number of years, since Orton and went prior with Grossman. It's an organization wide frustration that a trip to the playoffs would have me recant. I am not saying I wouldn't root for them to win, I just won't change my opinion on the situation so easily.

    One draft problem

On offense maybe, I think one of the DB starters will have him beat. A revamped front 7 may help that.
  20. I hope he ends up staying at Guard and with the team. He is a nasty player, he's pretty darn great as a LG, he's so dang smart about all positions and reading a defense, and he's a solid leader. I've watched many videos and read many interviews with him. He's legitimately my favorite player on the Bears and one of my favorites in the league.
  21. I'd throw WR in there. The Bears struggled at WR with injuries last year. Jeffery may not sign a long term contract and White's injury could be devastating to his speed. A return specialist could also be a target. In later rounds, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't bring in a kicker to compete with Gould. His contract is rather large for a kicker and he has had his struggles.
  22. And that's good. Like I said, I wasn't downgrading the picks. I wasn't trying to be negative about the picks. I was just expressing my opinion of that site.
  23. Like I said, I'm not downgrading the picks. There could be moves on the OL to make it interesting for Whitehair and they do need a DE. I just really hate PFF. I question the quality of their graders and the bias, plus the lack of intangibles like who they are going up against, the situation and so on. There is so much left out out of the grades and how qualified are the guys that give the grades and their personal interpretation of the rules of how they grade.
  24. In no way am I downgrading the Bears picks with this comment, but PFF is crap.
