DFG let me qualify this by saying that I argue with my 22yr old son regularly that Wolfe isn't an every down back but, neither is AP and also Wolfe has contributed more on special teams last year than AP did. He led the team in special teams tackles and scored 2 TDs on special teams.If the choice is between Wolfe and AP I think the Bears may go with the cheaper option in Wolfe. Also I can remember when AP got his chance to show that he was an NFL back and Brock Forsey wound up rushing for 134 yards because AP got hurt when he became a featured back. If the work load for Forte and Jones is what I think its going to be neither of these two guys is going to matter. So in this age of salary cap management who do you think is going to be a better option? I also think that some of the so called money the Bears have under the cap will be devoted to Forte getting an extension.

I would say that 90% of college QBs play in the shotgun or now the term commonly used is "Spread" offense and the first thing that ALL NFL teams and scouts want to see is how these QBs look taking snaps from under center.This is one of the main reasons it is so hard for NFL teams to develop a QB. One of the main reasons that Stafford and Sanchez were held in high regard is because of the so called "Pro Style" offenses both played in which simply means they were under center and project an easier transition to the NFL game. While watching Senior Bowl practice the coaches on both sides said the first thing that they were having the most trouble with were the center exchanges because of all the players lake of practice being under center.

The Bears re-sign LB Darryl McClover a special teams demon. That doesn't bode well for some one on the LB crew.

Judging by comments made by Smith and Daryl Drake the last spot may come down to Davis and Rideau since the staff likes to see reserves that can contribute via special teams. All other WRs have special teams ability.Davis also has special teams ability also so Rideau needs to step up in these preseason games.

I am a retro jersey guy and usually I will have to pay the full price because of my rule of no names on a jersey of a player thats younger than I am. So since I am 10 plus years older than Favre that limits me to what I can purchase. Then there is the authenticity factor I have to look at. Example: any Gayle Sayers and Dick Butkus or Mike Ditka jerseys that have GSH on the sleeve are not authentic because they didn't wear jerseys like that when they played because George Halas was still alive when they played and all they had were plain stripes. Also one of the last jerseys Sayers and Butkus wore were without stripes when the Bears moved to Soldier"s Field and they had a long sleeve version that mostly skill position players wore to protect them from astro turf burns. The linemen you couldn't tell what they wore because they had pads or tape all over their arms. Since Denver plays a 3-4 I would like to see how our O-line stacks up against their front. I also would like to see how Ron Turner makes halftime adjustments since this is also the game that the first team should come out after halftime and play a couple of series. I want to see all these things because our first two games are against 3-4 teams and I am still not 100% sold on Turner knowing what to do with such a talented QB.

First and foremost Iam not in a fantasy league so my opinion is kinda' skewed but I think a guy you can keep an eye on as a sleeper is Darren McFadden who this year has Lorenzo Neal at FB in front of him.There will also be a renewed committment to run the ball by the Raiders so he may get more scoring opportunities.

If Tommie Harris is not on the field automatically the Bears are vanilla. Unfortunately he is key to this defense's success. As for your bye-bye Lovie routine thats daily not yearly.

Jason unfortunately Edwards is in his element right now. Last year at the beginning of the season the Bills started off like a house off fire and then fizzled at the end of the season. I hate to say it but we may be looking at a defense that is a tad overrated.

What spectacular plays has Matt Jones made? Hester has at least made some spectacular plays on kick returns. Matt Jones has done nothing spectacular which is why he was expendable to the Jaguars. Why not go after Charles Rogers he is trying to get back to the NFL and wants a second chance since we are mentioning dope fiend loser WRs?

So your solution to this is go out and get Matt Jones who nobody seems to want? Keep in mind that not only was this our first preseason game but it was Buffalo's second. They did play in the HOF game against the Titans. If you are going to get this keyed up after the first preseason game then you are going to drive yourself crazy. The secondary with Tillman out and Manning out coupled with Bowman who has been raved about this season and you didn't see a glimpse of what the Bears will put on the field in GB.

Tillman Is on the PUP list if you look at the full roster and not the depth chart. Also they only have 4th string listed and by my account Mines would be the 5th TE.

Nfo what I meant was closing speed. You know this scheme allows for recievers to catch the ball then yoiu quickly come up and close on the play.That is what Vasher isn't doing anymore and Tillman can close quickly but often wiffs on the tackle. According to a lot of the beat writers Vasher is lacking in confidence which leads to hesitancy and takes away from your speed also. David Haugh(Tribune) wrote an article about Vasher where the new DB coach had to remind him that he was in full pads and he needed to use them. I understand your assessment and the so called stereotype of cover 2 CBs but the Bears haven't been drafting slow pokes but what they have been drafting is guys that may have been injured but had good speed prior to getting injured.See Alphonso Marshall, Corey Graham and Zack Bowman in college. Now lets talk about 2 guys that were drafted to play in the Bears secondary that can fly. Devin Hester and Daniel Manning drafted in tha same round in the same year were both expected to make an impact in the secondary. Regardless of what the so called impression is about Cover 2 DBs the Bears have been going after guys that can run on the field. There is a reason for Lovie liking guys to be lighter in the front seven its for quickness and speed.

Im not quite sure about the practice squad rules but this would have been his 3rd year on the PS. So he has actually been around this team as long as Brandon Rideau.

I wonder who screwded up this depth chart. Where is the guy who has been one of the darlings of TC? Zack Bowman is he not ahead of McBride and Graham? Looks like this depth chart is not too accurate.

There is nothing to this story according to Lovie and all the beat writers who are following the Bears at TC everyday. Lovie said "Michael Vick deserves another chance but its not gonna happen here." For the record he was in town for a Humane Society event which obviously is a part of his community service obligations that have been set up by the US Humane Society. When I go looking for a jersey for one of the sports teams I pull for I generally have one rule.If I am older than the player I will not wear his name on my back so most of my t-shirts or jerseys have been blank except for my retro ABA Julius Irving All-Star jersey and my Harlem Globe Trotters jersey with Lemon on the back(for obvious reasons). From watching practice Knox may be able to see the field on returns. Don't sleep on the fact that Lovie has said that Hester will not return kickoffs so that leaves a spot open for someone and I'm guessing its Garrett Wolfe. Here is where Knox comes in, when DM gets gased in a game from a long opponents drive who goes back there with Wolfe? I think Knox will be the guy.

AZ54 I don't know if you noticed or not but it seems that the teams that run this defense go through a lot of DBs. Tampa has only one long time DB that has been playing in this scheme and that is Ronde Barber. They even let John Lynch go FA. I would say Tillman and Vasher are starting to reach their expiration dates in this D because as with most positions in this zone type scheme speed is very important and it is obvious that both have lost a step or two. Since JA has been here he has drafted DBs and DLs.

Unfortunately for Rashied I was making jokes with other fans about being the guy who would volunteer to drive him to the airport. My whole thought process is that he is as good as he is going to be and there is no improvement since the first year he switched to offense. You saw dramatic improvement in Hester from year to year and he seems to be even more polished than last season. I just don't see that with Davis. The other thing not in his favor is his height. In previous years the Bears have tried to bring in taller WRs with speed since JA has been the GM and the shorter guys they have had have been cut if they were not sure handed or versatile. Translation: Bobby Wade( who has a hard on for the Bears) and Bobby Engram are similar body and skill styles and both were sent packing by JA. Guys like Moose, Brandon Lloyd and Marty Booker were all considered Big WRs and these are the guys that JA has targeted. Now you see the likes of Brandon Rideau and Aromahado that have nice height plus the size of their TEs and you can see that the Bears may be trying to get more physical at the WR spot like when the Bears drafted guys like Booker and Marcus Robinson who we have been trying to replace every since he left.

Marshall actually came out of Central Fla as a raw WR prospect who in his last year switched from safety to WR to help the team. When he was at the Combine he worked out at WR and when he played in the East West Shrine game he played WR.

B Bear I was at TC on Aug 3rd and he was on the field going through all the drills.His practice participation on that day was in full pads which is what the Bears have been practicing in for 9 or 10 days straight days.You see where I'm going with this? Lovie is trying to limit his participation in contact drills. He even admitted as much in an interview, saying quote"Its more me than than it is Tommie." JA today on the SCORE said we want him fresh in the second half of games and we want him to play all season. So now there are quotes from the coach and GM that pretty much say they are treating Harris special so why are you so bent out of shape about him having fun with guys that are his teammates and friends? If the coaches are holding him out why is he the object of your ire?
